Heavy equipment getting the job done and no talking…. What more can a man ask for?
How peaceful.
No one would ever know the struggles you guys went through building this road after watching this video, yet for us who fallowed the build week after week we can look back and say what a great accomplishment you made. Your self built million dollar road deserves a commemorative detication sign. Its truely a phenomenal job, many thanks to all that lent a helping hand in its construction.😊
good job everyone!....that was a big job!
This project was incredible. That was A LOT of work to get it done and you both still kept smiling. Whewww!!
You two are the best team ever
We’ve loved watching you kiddos from day one. We will certainly continue!!
Thanks for this I never completely understood the scope of the road build. This put me more in the picture. Pictures (video) don't do it justice.
I could sit and watch a couple hours of this
I hope you still have this beast. If yes, put some really heavy beams in your new work area and have fun.
Nice to see that in a compilation - without all the technical breakdowns while building.
Nice job. Amazing!
Great job! That road looks awsome. It now looks like a senic fun and safer place to enjoy.
I wanted to mention this before, but forgot. Get ahold of your local horticulture organization and see about native wildflower seeds and scatter them alongside the beautiful new driveway. Also there are some places who give away or sell fairly cheaply wildflower seeds and plants for polinators (bees & flutterbys). And scatter those alongside the road as well. Think of the gorgeous drive in and out once they are established. Grass is nice, flowers and plants are better.
So much work involved in editing this. Cool to watch. Thank you!
Such a MASSIVE undertaking! Good work yall
So just watching this I can smell the fresh earth; the diesel smoke; that warm, oily, greasy, earthy smell of running equipment; and that acrid, almost electric smell of rock breaking...
That D8 is going to be a good thing to have around. If you haven't already, start planning fire breaks around the property. That thing will literally be a lifesaver!
I really hope you decide to repair the dozer transmission so that Courtney can operate it next spring. The expression on Oliver's face will be priceless when you can give him a ride. Fixing the transmission and how it works would be some interesting videos.
That look like a lot of fun thank you for sharing.Don and Donna
Someone on vacation!
These shots bring home just how HUGE the project was, and how STEEP that grade had been. You guys are amazing
We are relieved the project is over, but Riley is already scheming up the next one!
@@AmbitionStrikes there is a whole mountain to move 🤣
@@AmbitionStrikes I'm betting it's a water slide from the deck down to the bottom of the road.
Awesome project!
I'd be interested in knowing a ballpark figure on the cost of that project with fuel costs and equipment rental and repair included.
I'm excited to see how the road holds up next spring! Amazing work, you guys just DOVE right into that with the big equipment. Our young population need to see all the work you have done to inspire them.
You both have done wonderful! Thanks for sharing your life and stories with us. In my opinion, this video collection was great and helped consolidate a few videos that help us "city slickers" get a better appreciation of that massive road project.
Something very hypnotic about watching this😊
Great job guys! A lot of hard work, a lot of hardships (all those breakdowns!), but you got your road in the end.
Honest comment. I only made it 2 minutes into the video. I hope ya'll are doing well this week. I've watched enough to realize you're likely busy IRL with Oliver or traveling when you put out a quick video like this one. I hope we get to see some more hijinks with the vanwives soon. Maybe another video about your boat. Anyway, I hope fortune continues to shine on you both. I'll look forward to next weeks video.
That bigger excavator is quite the beast. Time to trade up? "Well" now what is next? Great job all of you.
There is no way we could have done this project without renting that large excavator!
Gee, what did you guys do with your Sumer?🤣 Awesome road guys!😊
Awesome 👏 job. Those are big bulldozers.
All you need now is a rock crusher machine and you can make your own gravel for that driveway!
Beautiful job of sculpting the best road in the west hills.
Sweet road
Cool road building content it was a lot of work made me tired ha ha
A small road project that was going to get us by for a few years took a serious turn as soon as the concrete truck got stuck. But we are so thankful we dove in and did it right!
Sweet video of all the hard work you two put in on that road build ! I watch all your videos and keep thinking to myself, that material coming off that mountain, would be nice if you to had a rock crusher, wow you could make your own road gravel ! Keep up the hard work and great videos!
Let's go!
you guys going to keep the dozer?
I thought the road was done.
Wow. How DID this come about? I/ve watched every vid. If the 'city' was doing this it would have taken fifteen engineers a year to decide how to do this and it would have cost a lot of money (a million isn't what it used to be).
If y’all need help next summer next spring.
Long month to get the road the way it is ( what pitch or degree your road end at 15º or 12º?)
We ended up taking the steepest section from 26% grade to 16%. That is only a small portion and the rest of the hill is closer to 14%.
what happened to the Bulldozer i haven't seen it in any videos at all... did you sell it
We still have the dozer! We think the transmission is going out and haven't decided if we're going to repair it or not.
No new video today. 😢
Nov 5: old stuff
Oh same road not another road 🤷🏼♀️
I guess if you have nothing to do you can always put up old video
👍
Not my style. Hope its a one-off and the regular lifestyl-i videos will continue next week.
Great job with that old dozer. If you’re finished with the road it might not be practical to invest in repairing the transmission in it, but I’m sure many viewers (myself included) would be very curious what’s inside it. A repair would make fascinating content.
We are still very torn on whether or not to fix the dozer. Riley is equally as curious as what's going on inside the transmission.
@@AmbitionStrikesgo for it as a nice winter project in your workshop … will be able to do nothing else when it’s parked in there 🤣
@@grahameida7163 When you live in a shouse (Shed/House), you need to be careful of the smells that you bring into the shop.
@@AmbitionStrikesMaybe a collaboration video series with RUclipsr Iron King? I think we'd all like to see the inside of that transmission
Or any of the big diesel or heavy equipment channels. Fond memories of our cable blade D8H.
Best video ever! Been doing this for almost 40 years, never gets old.
Music to my ears!
You have what it takes to easily do this every day.
Someone is on vacation.
So the massive road construction is now completed? Wow! That’s really quite an accomplishment! Congrats on a job well done! 👍
Thanks Steve! There is more long term road work we will be doing, but for now our primary road is complete.
Disappointment was looking forward to new progress on workshop
Thank you for the compilation video on the road building. I don’t think one gets the scope of a project until you can see the compilation. Every big project needs a compilation video for your own library but also for your viewers. These videos do not come together in 5 minutes. It must take hours to do this. We are so used to you building some big project and making a mini movie every week that the viewers have become a little greedy for content. In a way it is a huge compliment that you are that good. I have watched your camper video and your tiny house video a few times marveling at what you accomplish. ❤️
Sometimes it's fun to mix things up and try something new. This certainly won't be our content every week, but it was a fun editing challenge!
You two rock (literally).
Like watching Bob The Builder!
The massive scale of that project is overwhelming! What a feat of accomplishment!! It looks amazing!! What an amazing transformation!! So incredibly impressive that you were able to power thru, keep plugging away regardless of the setbacks, and git ‘er done!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Sometimes we forget how far we've come with this road. It's fun to watch out videos and see just how much work it took to get to this point!
RUclips only has one like button ? You exposed that deficiency !
Hope you show us in spring how your road held up
Spring is going to be the real test of the road!
You 2 Amaze me!!, Riley never driven a Dozer before, now driving like a Pro!!, Courtney, you have the knack of getting into Any Construction machine, no matter what size and just drive it like a Pro too.!! Good job guys!!
Just old footage😮
I was going to be negative and say something about old content, but really after watching this I think it was one of the better videos y’all have posted. Well done!
This really puts the enormity of the project into perspective! Thanks guys. Hope the container shop is going well!
Had already watched all the previous episodes of the road building. I’d prefer seeing how the new storage area is coming along.
So what are your plans for the D8, as I think when it was in your last video it needed a transmission rebuild?
Sorry to be a downer, but I’ve seen all this footage. Remarkable, but a re-run!
Was looking at the new shop, IDEA___ remove one of the double doors and pt a garage door on i. Make it easier to get inside
I guess u didn't have much to say.
This is a video for Oliver, when he's 4-5yrs old just play this on loop and it'll keep him busy for hours 😁 That's how my mom kept me busy, she just played bill dance fishing shows on loop and I was 'hooked' lol
I was hoping you had some new stuff about your storage garage containers. I’m curious what are you gonna do with that? Hope you put electric out there. That way you can plug your vehicles in well. I look forward to next Sunday’s video. Have a great week.😮
Another awesome video brother stay strong and God bless you 😂😂😂
While I appreciate the effort of your weekly posts...This one just wasn't your usual uplifting project stuff with your smiles and fun. It was informative... but just cutting and pasting of old material. I hope all is ok and you have nothing going on wrong that would stop you from making your usual great content. It is the only one I've ever clicked the thumb down on... sorry.
and I may have fast forwarded through most of it and in total maybe watched 30 seconds oit.
You have come a long way Pilgrims :-)
trying to make a fast dollar on youtube i see (at lest say something )
Looking back at it like this, what a massive project. End result looks great, well done! Definitely looking forward to seeing how it holds up this winter and what spring looks like.
The road will never be "done" but I think Riley is actually happy about that (it means more equipment in his future). We'll circle back next spring to address any drainage/grading issues.
@@AmbitionStrikeswe found that sections of our road held up fine , but some areas took years to settle and needed more material , the neighbor with his Cat-14 Roadgrader was a amazing help , not only maintaining the road surface but ditching and sloping cuts , he did it all . 👍🇨🇦
All that rock would be fantastic if you could filter it all out and sort it by size
A rock sorter would be awesome up here
Wow, that dozer is massive! I enjoyed today’s video. Thanks for all of your great content!
Isn't it incredible - what you can achieve - and what you can learn to do?? Of course, one (or two) have to have Immense Balls of Steel - and you (both) do!!
What you have accomplished at your homestead - and on your channel - and of course - achieved the pinnacle with bringing Oliver into the world - is truly inspiring. Congratulations to you both!
Is it physically demanding to operate the big dozer?
That was like an instrumental version.
It was nice to see you hydro seed your roadway cuts in previous video. It will reduce the erosion and decrease the amount of future work you will need to do on your road. I really enjoy your channel and your content.
It's unbelievable the amount of work that was put into building your road. The final test is winter, and snow. Shoukd it withstand it, of which I know it will, you guys must be certified, road constructors, period!
We are eager to see what happens this winter!
too much talking. 🤣
🤣
The title is wrong, the equipment sound is music to my ears.
Well that sucked. Come on!
Little by little, bits by bits. Really sums it up. That song will always remind me of you guys when I hear it. Extremely well put together video. Gives a very good perspective of the work that was done to build that road and with no experience to top it off. Congratulation, this was not an easy task. And you got to spend the summer with your friends. You guys rock.
Impressive and more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
This is a repeat , why are watching this?
Enjoyed this great big project. Would like to know how many feet of roadway you built and what it what you think it cost you?
Took 'a season' to work out how to match machine size to the job size. WOW!!!!
Results.
What has been done speaks for itself.
What about the D8 becoming part of the channel legacy.
Yeah. Fixing the D8 for your immediate purpose is a huge ??.
Fixing the D8 as part of the channel legacy makes huge sense. Kinda part of a pay forward/back legacy.
Kinda like Van Wives xover. This time based on the D8.
The camera work is excellent, very professional kinda like the Subway commercial PRO- FESSIONAL.
That old dozer is a caterpillar model 68A, it was my first machine back in 1977. Even in minus 40 that thing would always start because of the pup motor. By the way guys, when you’re dealing with rock, half throttle at best. Otherwise you’ll wreck everything. Never let your tracks spin, push as much as you can without spinning. Enjoy.
Psalm 75:2
King James Version
2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. Gods blessings are over you .
Wow I can’t believe the negative remarks. They have the power to fast forward or click off. It’s your channel not theirs. Great to see a summary of such a large project
I’m 62 years old and still love to watch big machines move big stuff. Blessings, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊🇺🇸
I’m pretty sure you posted a video of you guys finishing the road 2 months ago 🤷🏻♂️. I always watch your content anyways though. Will be waiting on some NEW stuff soon. Lol
never realized just how much i needed one of these quiet, heavy equipment, roadbuilding, ASMR videos. Man that was so relaxing and enjoyable. What I think is really cool, is the pride you guys must have in knowing that you guys did everything yourselves. with how well the road turned out. And even if there is something that's not perfect down the road (pun intended) when muddy season comes around, you guys have the equipment, and skills necessary to fix it. SUPER awesome.
That D8 is a great running machine and most of all you will do your iwn maintenance!!! So i say look for super deals on a newer trans, final drives, rails, sprocket segments , lift cylinders Etc etc. Fix it up good. You are good enough now to actually be a contractor Riley with your operator skills, wife being a decent operator as well as super helper/assistant and her full support !! You can jump up!!!
Courtney, what excavator were you in while the three of you were working on that driveway? Was it the CATERPILLAR or Hitachi?
Wow nice job, congratulations 🍾🎉
Should be able to sell that set up for a couple million easy !!! Lots of road building brings value way up along with solar systemS now! House/shop and equipment shed/building … a pile of value there !!!
