  • In this video we have a very dusty / dirty NAD 3020 Stereo amplifier, Which is in need of a general maintenance cleaning.
We will open up the unit, Clean inside and apply de-Oxit to all of the potentiometer controls.
This should be done as a periodic service to the amplifier or any other
Hi-Fi stereo units. It will keep the systems in better overall condition and will allow visual checks of the components whilst inside.
Obviously it goes without saying that this applies to all amplifiers and not just this make or model.

My balance knob cuts out randomly either side . If I push on it it helps . Sometimes.
Where can I get a new one ?

I would try to clean it first, as it sounds like this could be the issue. Using the deoxit will hopefully rectify it.

I be extremely careful touching any circuitry with a brush as it can cause short outs which can takes to isolate.
Put it on its side and let compressed air and gravity to do its job.
You want to avoid touching anything if possible.
Repairs are expensive and you can end up writing off the amplifier.

I do not clean with any electrical currents going through the machine. They are all isolated from the mains and discharged. So no risk of any shorts etc.
