I have a question!
I used to be a heavy indoor player until I got into outdoors heavy this summer! I’m used to that feet diagonal to net and toes square to the setter. Won’t you translate forward if you have toes to the net increasing your likelihood of hitting net??

What's the reason for not doing a sideways block step on the approach on beach? Is it because there's no solid ground to punch into and the sand would just give way? Or maybe it's because you could roll your ankles?

Why cut your lower back muscles out though? I say use everything you have. Bend forward and snap up. Anything to help get your momentum going up.
Oh my bad; not just your lower back muscles but your erector spinae also. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24102076/
The glutes and the quads won't be used as efficiently to move your body upward if your back is bent over. It needs to be aligned above your hips so your lower body can explode up. It's basically the difference between a squat and a good morning.
