Weak engine. I like the look as GMC did nail the design! I have a 2011 with the I4 and it can tow 1500lbs. the V6 it used to have can do 3500lbs. They need to be around the 3500lb mark. It's why I never upgraded to the newer Terrains. That and the cost for less didn't make sense.

    • @carlostavaresjr958

@@ATH_Berkshire Not really. They can get the MPG when matching the power to weight ratio and proper gearing. 250HP would be the ideal power for this car. By the time you spec the Terrain out to a higher trim or options your in 4Runner territory and it can tow more.

175hp 1.5 turbo is incredibly weak across the entire lineup. CR-V has 190hp 1.5 turbo and the 204hp hybrid options. All for what will probably be pretty close in price to what these are.
The SLE/SLT equivalent trims (Elevation or whatever) should have had the 1.5 turbo with the AT4 and Denali getting a better powertrain than that. Coming in with 175hp approaching $40k is just kind of sad. Not to mention will get much worse fuel economy than something like a similarly priced CR-V hybrid while ALSO having much less power to boot. That CR-V will also likely have way better resale down the road. Good effort on the exterior/interior for most part from GMC here, they just forgot to offer a compelling drivetrain.

There's actually a current class action suit against GM for the Terrains and Acadias that have the fuel pump module failure issue. It happens on most GM vehicles from what I've seen (Trucks, SUVs, etc.). There's even tow truck haulers on YT here that do videos where they talk about the number of GM vehicles they tow every month to the dealer for this exact issue. Until I know they've resolved the issue, I wont be buying a GM product. For them (General Motors) to let it go on for so long, stranding their customers is pretty pathetic. They could have done something different with the instrument cluster on these new GM vehicles. Along with the Canyon and Acadia, it looks like the cluster was an afterthought. You have a big hole and they just stuck a tablet in there. I would rather see the entire opening with a digital cluster integrated into the opening.

This has the weakest engine in its class. What a joke of a powertrain. Honda's own 1.5 turbo makes more power for less money. All of the Terrain's competition makes more power. The old first generation's 2.4 and 3.6 engines, made more power. Seems like GM is going backwards again.

Doesn’t seems like this can take on the Sportage, Santa Fe, future RAV4, and current CRV. It better be cheap and have a hybrid model

That engine looks tiny. They certainly have room to put in something bigger. It’s almost as if they weren’t planning on having a gas model at all so they didn’t put any thought into the powertrain.

Unfortunately the power train carryover is a non starter for many. It wasn't good before and once again GM missed the boat with the engine.

I don't mind the light over the front wheel well, but the back one is useless, and I think confusing to drivers next to them. Having it built into the rear light is better IMHO. Oh, and I'm guessing GMC went with blinking brake lights - again.
