Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another ABBA reaction made possible by PATREON. Frida and Agnetha both share explosive legs, there I said it...lol But they take me on wild fun ride with "So Long." Don't mess with these girls they want you out!

Frida was always the energetic one out of the two she just loved being on stage.
It's just a matter of time before Dereck starts wearing a cat shirt when reacting to more ABBA tunes hehe
Yep, straight after his pants have fallen.
I love ABBA...all of them, however, Frida's energy is the best!
of all ABBA reactions on you tube i enjoy yours the most. you´re so into their music, i love it !
Yes, I agree !!
Wow Frida 😍💜
A truly amazing, electric performance from the ABBAs! I've heard many gay guys say this one could turn them straight. LOL. But, since you mentioned 'I've Been Waiting For You', you really should check that one out too. It's very different to this one....a sublime, beautiful ballad with a great Agnetha lead vocal which I think you will adore.
Yep, I'm one of those gay guys! But then Frida is phenomenal, and not just her legs 🤩
It's still baffles me why this single flopped so hard, it's one of the most exciting early recordings from the band. Very glam rock indeed. And can we talk about Frida's legs? Omg could rival that of jLos! These two ladies were Goddesses of Pop, bow down peeps
Why only Frida's legs? Agnethas are just as great🥲😍
Why? It's called institutional racism and inbuilt societal prejudice. ABBA were deemed a novelty act who did Eurovision and, worse, they're not from the UK or the bleeding US. Therefore they had no chance to make it anywhere, it was termed laughable for anyone to even think of making it outside their 'little shores' and Eurovision was their only chance for a tiny bit of universal fame with one song if they got it right. Well they did and they had their moment. It passed-supposedly. In a real world with normal rules, 'So Long' has No.1 written all over it, and did hit big around Europe, continuing their climb, but any single following a Eurovision win by an act that's not a UK or US one is not gonna be deemed playable-no one will "waste their time" with it back then. It's not gonna get plays-so how's it gonna chart. Result: It got no plays! So of course it didn't chart! the follow-up only got in there by sheer luck and chance thanks to a publicity stunt surrounding a sham-wedding between 2 radio stations in the miserable UK that afforded it a few more radio plays, enough to get it into the Top 40, but elsewhere, including the US, 'I Do' was a massive hit, and began their No.1 stream of singles in Australia.
Finally So-long!! When I re-discovered ABBA for about 10 years ago this one was my absolute favorite. So fun, such energy and such legs!! And now I'm totally sold and an ABBA-fan for rest of my life.
Benny does stand from time to time when Frida lets loose he gets so excited.
Omg yes lol
Its soo fun Dereck to se your reactions I always look after new ABBA reactions,,,,,,,,,,,,,LOVE FROM SWEDEN🤣😂
Frida was always energetic, and loved to dance, but she had to talk agnetha into loosening up.
And some idiots believe that ABBA do not deserve to be in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME! Proof right here that they could rock!
My favourite Abba rock/energy songs are:
1. Hole In Your Soul
2. So Long
3. Summer Night City
4. Waterloo
5. The Visitors
6. Tiger
7. Does Your Mother Know
8. Bang!-A Boomerang
9. Watch Out
10. He Is Your Brother
Knowing Me, Knowing You is a rock power ballad. And there are more...
Well of course they don't. I mean, the shite Tone Deaf Rock Roll Hall Of Pain is for the desperate, pointless, talent-free likes of slagdonna, pariah carey, bon jovi, all the shite boyband, girlband crap, country bullshit. ABBA are NOT American, of course they shouldn't be in there. Nothing good should be. I quite agree they shouldn't be in there. Nothing of any worth is in there, why should ABBA be any different.
So long is such a fun uplifting song, which I think is one of there best early songs. I would also recommend you Arrival and Intermezzo Nr 1. They are both super interesting und in some way unique ABBA songs
Agnetha always gets the choreography wrong. She was definitely not a dancer. Frida on the other hand got it right
Can't recommend instrumentals-they're not songs. 'Rikky'Rock'N'Roller' is a song anyway, it's just cos they wouldn't use it, B&B took the instrumentation from it. At least 'Arrival' has voices on it, even if no words, though Frida did it with words in 1983 as a single.
@@resireg Yet she often mimes Frida's parts in songs too. What's that about? Frida's far better performer, dancer.
Thanks for reacting to this classic performance, D. Frida's epic 'leg on piano' moment is priceless. She really gave it her all in performances. The song was only released as a single in limited territories and wasn't wildly successful, except for a few countries. Perhaps its B-side "I've Been Waiting For You" would have stood a better chance in the charts. It was one of the stand-out tracks on the 'ABBA' album and the single that never was.
It likely wouldn't-the inbuilt prejudice against record-makers from any country not the US or UK would not have any chance and no radio station played it outside Europe, but IN Europe, it carried on their climb, getting higher than a few others in Germany, and Top 3 in Austria, and Top 10 in Sweden and Denmark.
One of my favourite tracks! Sublime glam rock from their 3rd album in 1975.
My favourite from 'old' Abba era. For me better than Waterloo. According their recording session The intro 'screaming' guitar was recorded by the pool, one of many innovating experiments they have on their records!
I prefer the slightly funkjazzy songs from that era, like "My mama said".
Ha ha, Del boy been hitting the happy juice...really enjoyable reaction, had me chuckling away...the girls as always had me remembering halcyon younger days when lust was pretty much on my mind on minute by minute basis, Fridas legs are up there with the best... cracking tune, great reaction...if only Mr Derek would react to 'My Love, My Life', then I can lose myself into Agnethas eyes whilst Del Boy wipes his own.
Such a great example of power pop - probably the best ABBA ever did. Bjorn said Agnetha's moves were incredibly sexy; it's just that she didn't know it!
So much fun to watch you react to music I grew up with... In this sad times you're giving (me) so many good vibes with all your reactions, analysis and comments! So: thumbs up for Dereck! (Big ABBA and Mylène fan here :)) )
Fab track... such an underrated song 🎵
Love watching your ABBA reactions matey!
I Love this song!!! ABBA songs are so special and FUN!!!!
Holy Bananas! Another great reaction! Intermezzo No 1 and I’ve Been Waiting for You (from the same album) next please.
Keep the ABBA reactions coming Dereck, there are plenty of really good ABBA songs out there still yet to be reacted to...and yes..I would love the timemachine as well....
Well, Abba is good, but we are here because of the diversity. Sometimes we get Madonna, sometimes Journey, it is nice to have so many surprises
Many people thought Agnetha, the shy, reserved 'cool' blonde was hot, but I never understood why people slept on Frida, who was a real firecracker. Granted I'm gay, but if I was straight I think I'd want a woman who brought the heat and had the moves.
‘Tiger’ and ‘Gonna sing you my love song’ please. Keep up the great work 💫
lots of energy. and a great dance routine at the end. hot swedish chicks from 1975.
Hey Derek- Abba recorded this in 1974. - was an A side single - I think the B side was ‘I’ve been waiting for you’ - Abba were experimenting with a glam rock sound - they weren’t comfortable and then focussed more on their comfort zone - pop - and from that songs like SOS, Mama Mia happened - always love your reactions / stay safe 😷😎 - kindness from Australia
Australia was in love with ABBA and they seemed to be in love with Australia too. Seemed like a happy time in all their lives.
Bang-A-Boomerang. No regrets! Thank you!
This is awesome live with Frida and Agnetha's choreographed dance routine on stage for it It is really awesome It's featured in ABBA the movie
Love watching reactions to songs I was listening to over 45 years ago. Timeless.
Bang-a-boomerang is another wall-of-sound stomper!
Another incredible song, amazing it didn't chart better, so powerfull, love it!!!!! One of their best from the early years for me
I think......I love you, Dereck!! ❤️ Your reactions are THE BEST on YT!
I´m Swede & this is one of their coolest songs ! Just LOOVE the high tempo !
And,YES, I love the ending too.when Frida &Agneta start doing dance-steps syncronised.
Yes. Abba could rock!
Just sounds like a happy feeling 70’s classic song!
I have always loved this song, so fast paced and the video is the bomb. Frida has always been more animated than Agnetha. Glad you liked it.
One of my faves also. The energy is off the charts. I love when Dereck says, my pants are down...lol
You will lnock up hitting that buzzer when these dazzling beauties perform
Been waiting for this one 👍🏼
Please react to I wonder (departure) it’s such a good Frida song!
I love watching your reactions, especially the ABBA ones. So cool to know that after all these years, you have become a fan. The music we grew up with was really all we had, so for me, it so trumps all of today's music which is why I still listen to it. ABBA is in my CD player at all times, great workout music.
So long" has many interesting things to analyze
How well you say, its rhythm is in the similar glam rock style of Waterloo, it was recorded in 1974, months after ABBA's triumph at Eurovision
And since the reissue of “Ring Ring” after “Waterloo” barely made it into the UK Top 40, ABBA's search for a second hit to reinforce “Waterloo” focused on “So long” precisely because of its rhythm and style in the vein of "Waterloo"
But it didn't even make it onto the UK charts
The following year ABBA would try "I do I do I do I do I do" another Top 40, until finally it was "S.O.S." that broke the ‘one hit’ curse to #6 in the UK and #15 in the US, and from then on ABBA was the hit-after-hit machine.
"So long" I think is more aggressive than "Waterloo", and at the same time more fun
Agnetha and Frida do one of their most memorable choreographies
And the live performance on the 1977 Australia Tour is spectacular.
"So long" is a very good song that unfortunately did not have commercial success
But ABBA always included it in their first TV specials until 1976 included.
Dereck, if you want so much to see ABBA live, and we fans to see you enjoy them, look for:
He is your brother (Australia 77)
Hole in your soul (London 1979)
See you in another video
A cordial greeting from my country Argentina
at least a decent number 11 on the charts in Germany and me too, always like this better than Waterloo actually. It was released by the end of 1974 and was the pre/lead single of the upcoming ABBA album which would include I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do, SOS and Mamma Mia as further singles during 1975. So Long is catchy and sexy as hell. The third voice is really strong on that one. What a contrast to the next single: I Do I Do.... PS. from the more recent stuff you're still missing out on Our Last Summer, another could have been single hit song from 1980's Super Trouper.
Great job on this one Dereck!
Someone replied on another channel that Frida could melt the polar ice caps on this. One of my fave ABBA vids. BTW, have you pulled up your shorts?
Pure Glam-rock from the 1970´s!!!!!
react to "Our Last Summer" next please!
Has he not reacted to Our Last Summer yet?? Oh, STAT!
@@JCWiley2300 No dont think so Our last Summer and The way old friends do he seems to have missed from the Super Trouper album
I recently discovered this song,it's such a great Dance song and a power house
It was probably more comfortable for Benny to stand, especially so after Frida put her leg up on his piano in such a manner 😁 Great reaction, thanks Dereck and thanks to your Patreon subscriber 👍 So Long has been performed many times over the years, mainly to playback, but a 1974 (I think? was before my time) at Top of The Pops and AꓭBA The Movie versions were live
Ach das waren noch Zeiten!!!
Schön,dass Dereck sich Mal wieder einen alten Titel raus gesucht hat!!!
Gibt noch soviel ältere Songs, wo die vier schon gezeigt haben, was alles in ihnen steckt!!!
Z.B. My Love My Life, Dance (While The Music Still Goes On), Arrival, Happy Hawaii, Suzy Hang
Around, Lovelight usw.
I Love it ‼️👏👏👏✌️🙋‼️
😂 your pants have been around your knees a lot lately in your reaction videos. Not one of my favorite ABBA songs, but, I did appreciate that you chose to give it a listen and react to it. There are a couple of other tracks around this period that are in a similar style (more rock oriented). “Bang a Boomerang” and “Hey Hey Helen”. I actually saw ABBA live in 1979 in Boston and they did not perform this song (thankfully! 😂)
I know I said this before in another comment but,..... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REACT TO THIS FROM ABBA THE MOVIE!!! Frida snd Agnetha absolutely slay slay slay this on stage during the performance of it, and while you're at it you really check out the performance of Tiger from Abba the Movie as well
You're literally ONE TRACK away from "I've Been Waiting For You." Don't say you haven't been alerted to this song. I have posted this in every reaction video. :)
On of my favorites!!
probably the best lovesong by ABBA
I love this song and this dance version so much!! The girls are absolutely ADORABLE with their end dance and hopping! Who does that?? And makes it so cool??? Only ABBA!
Love the lyric part "You can´t buy me with your money"..
‘So Long’ is one of my absolute faves 💗
I’m a huge Abba fan, I was born the year this came out (I’m so olllllllddddddd!!! 😂) this is one of my favs of theirs. Like you said, it’s a great fun pop song! You can’t beat that.
I love how bonkers you get lol, you outta check out a song called Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal. Call it your theme tune lol 😉
i was 13 then, what a wonderful time
You are possessed I would put you in a time machine to watch a few of their concerts. It will happen in the future.
Note how the space between Agneta's front teeth is gone here😪
Watch "ABBA the movie" (soft scripted) and you'll see their energy on stage, it was through the roof! They enjoyed themselves on stage and you can tell, that's why their live performances were great✌
Hi Derek ive been waiting for you live in Australia is something special. Another must see
And don't overlook Gonna Sing You My Love Song.
Just love you at 6.54..🤣🤣🤣
I think we were all waiting for the reaction of this song with that presentacion specifically haha.
Also from "Made in Sweden" you need to react to I do, I do, I do, I do, I do.
Also some recommendations: Our Last Summer, That's Me, I've Been Waiting For you, Eagle (the full album version), The Way Old Friends Do, Ring Ring (the original 1973 version :) )
Thanks for the ABBA. Was wondering when you'd get to this one. It's like Frida had just had enough on the camera guys always focusing on Agnetha.
One of my favorites.
OK, this was the first pop song I fell in love with. Many many years after its release, in the 80s. So about 15 years later! But I was about 4 years old and I don't know why but this song just dragged me screaming into enjoying pop music. Hearing it again now, its a very dense, thick and heavy sound for Abba. Doesn't sound much like anything else they did. And those trumpets at the end, amazing. I guess its from the same album and era as Waterloo.
If you like female empowerment sort of songs then there's more to shake a stick at with Eurovision 2021. Eurovision is what rocketed Abba's career in the 70s.
Thx for the nice reaction again
Wasn't it fun and catchy, loved the song always very much
Another great song "that's me"
It was the b-side from "dancing queen" ........also very very nice to hear
Frida - hottest of all pop stars
You're right as you mentioned it, absolute a 'cousin' to Waterloo.
Not a ordinary word to describe ABBA but - asskick! (Rumpspark in swe)
= 8 )
Hi Derek have you seen Abba the movie. Loads of live concert stuff. A must see. 👍
this song would go very well on a film soundtrack
Good reaction Dereck. So Long was one of the first new tracks recorded after ABBA had won the Eurovision Song Contest in April 1974, this was an A-side single in the UK in November as the record company thought it would be successful due to some similarities to Waterloo. It wasn't, it didnt even chart in the UK though I belive it went Top 20 in Sweden, Germany and a couple of other places. Bjorn and Benny these days shrug it off as not being one of their best and that it shouldn't have been a single. Its very much of its time, ABBA experimenting with Glam rock and the Spector-esque 'wall of sound'. Apparently when they recorded it they were in a private swimming pool hall trying out guitar sounds with amplifiers and the wall tiles were coming off due to the volume. Theres some nice footage of the track in ABBA-The Movie and a whole heap of performances on youtube for this one. It may not have been a huge hit but, ABBA certainly spent a long of time promoting it throughout Europe.
Please!! Review all of the songs featured in ABBA the movie. Those songs sung live are beyond delightful.
This is one of their good Waterloo era songs. It also featured on the set list for their tour of Australia as shown during the "ABBA The Movie" film.
Yes, also react to "Intermezzo No 1"
My top 15 ABBA songs - you've probably done most of them now.
Dancing Queen
The Winner Takes It All
When I Kissed the Teacher
Lay All Your Love On Me
SOS
So Long
Mamma Mia
Gimme Gimme Gimme
Hasta Manana
Lovelight
Elaine
Knowing Me, Knowing You
One of Us
Kisses of Fire
My Love My Life
Cool reaction to a cool song!
One of my favorite tracks on their self titled album. Please react to: Hey Hey Helen and Tropical Loveland.
This is from a tv special called Made In Sweden For Export
I've never heard a song good enough to make my pant's fall off (although they once DID fall down whilst dancing to Tina Charles - "I Love To Love" but that's another story) However, if it's gonna happen it may as well be to an ABBA song.
It is the mother of "That don't impressing me much"!
Oups. I wrote it before the video was finished. I am happy that you see the same. I always taught that "The winner takes it all" was the mother of "You outtha know".
I love your channel. However, some important aspects of the euro 80's are missing. Like 'Italo' music, such as gazebo's 'i like chopin', matia bazar - ti sento or fun fun - baila bolero, which was essentially europe's summer holiday music. Desireless, voyage voyage that you covered was in that segment too.
Also talk talk is something that is missed and deserves more. They contain beautiful analogue synths and nice arrangements/compositions.
“HOLY BANANAS” 🍌 🍌🍌 Luv it! ❤️
Please react to ‘Tropical Loveland’ & ‘Intermezzo No1’ from the same album
you will like "RING RING "
I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOOOVE THE ENERGY OF THIS MUCH UNDERRATED TRACK. U GOTTA REACT TO: GET ON THE CARROUSEL FROM ABBA THE MOVIE. 🤗
Freda sure had energy in this one. Of course Agnetha didnt have to do anything different she is Alwats Goid. And dances wonderful and natural
4:18 Ahhh... the Countess!!!
I think you liked So Long a bit. I also think you will like Frida's solo piece Slowly, written by Benny & Bjorn.
So long is rocky!
Agnetha is always a good performer, doesnt even have to try ever
There is another version of this video where you can see what's going on in the background with the other people there. It's called "ABBA- Made in Sweden for Export" and it includes " Intermezzo No. 1", "Mamma Mia", "I do Id o I do I do I do, and of course "So Long". It's about 13 minutes. It's really great and would be great for you too Dereck.
You definetly choose their best songs. Not the most popular. Great!
A guitar solo you have to see to believe.
Jose Feliciano who was blind at birth.
Malaguena
Truly a gift from God. Also
Light my fire
Somewhere over the rainbow
Why are your pants half way down your legs? I hope you were not meaning anything naughty, as my grandmother follows my guidance on what to watch. I'm pleased you enjoyed this song as I think it is very splendid. My grandmother, whom I mentioned earlier, was an early Abba impersonator way back in the early 80s. She played the part of Frida in a tribute band. I have seen videos and she was very good. "Tracy, Daisy" THEY may be crazy. So, Tracy and Daisy were two people, not just one called Tracy-Daisy. "They say that money's got the magic touch, but not to me, it doesn't mean that much". This is a rejection of the kind of sleazy 'businessman' kind of guy who thinks that money can buy anything. Compare this to "Man in the Middle" which is about a 50 year old man with a 17 year old woman. That song is another powerful critique of society.
React to hey hey helen from the same album please.
Yes...please do,think you will love it,can't believe it wasn't one of their big hits!!
So glad that someone has finally mentioned Hey Hey Helen....the ultimate female empowerment track!
React to "I Know Him So Well" from Chess!
