    Thank you so much for continuing to help people recover from these horrible pills. I went cold turkey from 8 MGs of Alprazolam a day for years. It has been pure hell but there are windows of hope. I am on day 96 now. I am to the point where I can go to the gym and I feel so much better after workouts. Even if I don't feel like going, if I force myself to go I am thankful afterwards every time. The worst symptom I have left is my brain hurts. Not like a headache but like brain damage. Almost like severe brain damage. Well, I'm sure it is brain damage. Does this go away over time? Once I get my brain power back I believe I will be able to work again. The other symptom that's bad is that I am almost never happy anymore. Hopefully the gaba builds back up and I can feel happy again. Anyway, thank you for giving me hope. This is a horrible disease that I wish on nobody. God bless.

      tried going cold turkey off the same dose. Had a seizure and almost died. Currently on a taper and it sucks so bad. I can't imagine how I'll be once I'm off. I already can't function in society. The only relief I get is from my workouts.

      I had a rare succulent collection of about 50 plants that helped me also! Unfortunately one if my biggest side effects was sensitivity to light and migraines which the sensitivity to light didn't help. I was able to go outside at night and it would look as bright as an overcast day, that's when I did my gardening, my partner would sit outside at night with me in the dark while I just worked on my plants.

    So great that you are offering all of these coping strategies. I would add that I am learning things to avoid that set me off. I recently discovered that MSG (and hidden MSG!) sets off my insomnia in a horrible way since it's an excitotoxin. It can have many names so it's helpful to research the sources of this additive and the different names it goes by in (mainly) processed food. I thought I was eating healthy by buying frozen organic dinners but I ate some butternut squash ravioli and was up all night likely because of the "yeast extract" in the dish. Yeast extract is another name for MSG. Yesterday I read many labels and avoided this additive and slept through the night. FYI, 7 weeks off - dizziness, fatigue (getting better), insomnia, brain fog, memory challenges and mood swings. But I am hopeful and like you said, I talk to my symptoms as if they are outside of me and invite them to leave. It helps! Thanks again for your videos. You are an incredibly articulate person. :)

    Agreed, "the most important thing is indeed, acceptance!" I'm so grateful to be able to state that. As a survivor of decades of benzo, opiate, alcohol addiction and protracted withdrawal, I can say that my biggest obstacle was always this inexplicable need to "understand" everything associated with every minute aspect of a process that is as ever-changing and dynamic as life itself! I want people to know there will be times when you are convinced that you've "got this" or, "will never be able to do this," and that is OK! I experienced both extremes sometimes at the same time! LOL! For me, acceptance of the simple fact that "life goes on while we struggle to understand it's complexities" is what finally allowed me to move on, to live....yep, John Lennon was right. I will never again allow myself to be held captive by doing "autopsies" on my mistakes, I will make them, try to learn from them, forgive myself, and move on to the best of my ability. It is so easy to get lost in the details of addiction and yes, withdrawal! Looking back, I should have looked forward a bit more! Best wishes to all who struggle with drug abuse and withdrawal, BTW, yes you CAN do this! Dennis R.

      I just started the Ashton Manual, I’m so scared of my panic attacks and having withdrawals. I started this Monday, I’m trying not to think of how long the symptoms will be. I need and want off benzos. Has anyone done the Ashton Manual will minimal symptoms? I need to stop googling and the support groups are freaking me out. I have not read that one person didn’t suffer serious symptoms. Could anyone please tell me if you have withdrawal symptoms 24/7 for years, or does it come and go in spurts? (I pray) I’m looking for more success stories, and I realize that everyone suffers and all of are bodies are different. I’m just so afraid. I realized benzos are causing my panic attacks worse then ever which is why I need and want off these. I wish I could hear someone tell me their withdrawal symptoms are not every second of the day. I really need a support group for all of us going thru this who understands. Sorry I keep repeating myself. Looking to hear someone doesn’t have these symptoms every second of the day for years. Much love support prayers and positivity for all of us. I wouldn’t wish this in my worst enemy. Thinking of you all many prayers 🤗❤️💞

I got more info out of your videos than I ever did with any doctor. I have subscribed to your channel. I am 30 months into my taper now and I've had to slow it right down as the sx get pretty intense and weird at times. Insomnia, muscle aches,de personalization, everything is REALLY loud, food and drinks taste like chemicals, my skin feels like it's burning. I even get hot flashes and chills. Hold your breath until you can't hold it no longer and repeat, your mind will have no choice but to only concentrate on that and only that. Repeat mantra's of wonderful words about yourself even when you don't feel like it, especially when you don't feel like it. Cardio at least twenty minutes can calm panic, the longer the better for sustained calm. Reading a book that keeps your focus and completely focuses you so that you are not thinking of what you don't want to think about. Remove sugar 100 percent if you add it back anxiety will rise. Laugh, comedians, friends, family and smile even when you don't feel like it. Change the song, change the book, change the movie change whatever it is to change your train of thought into something better. Love and peace to all...

    So many people in recovery seem to focus on the negatives which is actually healing from medication addiction. If we stay stuck in the past it keeps us from moving forward. What a terrible way to waste your life. I CHOOSE to see coming off of my benzo meds as a plus & a way to regain my true feelings instead of the drugged version of me. Crying, whining & talking about hating doctors is self defeating. It never helps a person cross the river & get to the other side.

I can go to the gym again and i can follow My diet plan most of the time, My sleep is better, alot of the withdrawal symptoms gets easier as time go on, i can feel like life is worth living again! some days sucks but it's part of the recovery process, you have to accept when these "bad days" sneak Up on you. I oftn think for My self when i have bad withdrawal that " i have never healed, im never going to heal, the symptoms are as bad as during taper" and so om, BUT these exact throughts are being stimulated by Benzo withdrawal. Im here to say that dont give your hope Up, TIME WILL HEAL every single symptom you experience, Accept that its going to suck and be painfull sometimes, it's not permanent and you WILL HEAL!

I switched from alprazolam (10 mg a day, plus 150 oxycodone daily as well) to Rivotril (clonazepam in Europe at high doses cos it is longer acting).I also tapered oxycodone SR to 100 mg daily(I'm an ex H junkie, so, you know). Then I switched from clonazepam to Diazepam (Valium) 30 mg twice a day: it didn't work, I switched back to clonazepam, now only 3 or 6 drops daily. Still tapering with Oxycontin. One battle at a time. Best wishes, cheers!

      Ed Dobrzeniecki nobody can answer that,because some people don’t have any symptoms and for others could be hell.That depends in many factors:diet,lifestyle,if you exercise...My advice:look here for some advice knowing that you are a different person and,ready or not,you will get through this.But don’t read too much about it because everyone is different;some people has to stop taking 8 or more mg.Try to take your time,and think about this if things getting hard:ask to your self if you have a bad day:in 1 month or year,where I’m going to be?,this bad moment it’s going to be a bad dream?....be positive and remember that is ok research information here,but only for research purposes.and if you can afford it,go to see a therapist.I wish you success 🌟🌟🌟🌟

    I started using daily about a year ago. Got up to 7mg a few months ago. Been tapering off 0.5mg every week. At 1mg now. Hardest part is timing when to take my dose so that I can get enough sleep for work but also be very productive for work , I work as a farmer on a construction site. I have been getting more than usual back pain and even new hip pain, pain in my joints more than usual all together actually. Is this due to withdrawals ? Have also been getting migraines randomly. I can barely remember ever having a headache before this even. It is getting more difficult. I chose to lower my dose on a Friday so I can adjust somewhat over the weekend those first few days. I’ll barely get any sleep Friday night and Saturday night, and then Sunday I’ll wait til 8pm for my dose , mix it with some edibles and get some good sleep. I use Epsom salts, chamomile tea , lavender oils in my bath and diffuser, marijuana edibles, lots of marijuana works for me , lots of people advise against it though.

      Accept that insomnia is a part of the journey and let go of any expectations you have. There are things I learned post taper that helped me immensely with insomnia, whether they would have worked as well during my taper is hard to say. The first is a gut reset diet my doctor had me do along with the protocol discussed in my "Why am I getting worse?" video. I suggest watching this. I also started doing meditative yoga and breath work that works like magic for me now. It takes time to work consistently but it's totally worth it. Please consider watching my "yoga for anxiety" video as well as the brain exercise video. Give yourself time and grace. You'll heal from this.

      @@BenzoBrains I went from a measurement jar to a cup I had measured out and was shaking the jar to mix and when I switched to the cup I used a straw. Went from basically no symptoms to bad ones. I believe I also down dosed myself badly

    So a lot of people say NOT to take supplements such as magnesium during tapering. So I am just wanting to know if taking magnesium during taper is ok to do?

    • @BenzoBrains
      @BenzoBrains  4 года назад +1

      Like any treatment It's highly individual. Taking magnesium in combination with potassium and sodium may work better than alone to keep electrolytes in balance. You'd have to do your research though on safe doses of potassium. Then You'd just have to experiment and see, or not try at all

    You mentioned not taking too many warm baths. What do you think about saunas and hot tubs?

    • @BenzoBrains
      @BenzoBrains  7 лет назад +1

      I couldn't do anything like that during withdrawal. Even being outside in the hot sun could set off symptoms

    It has been 3 months since I am free of benzo, but I don't feel like emotionally connect to any thing, I don't feel anything, it's all so mechanical whatever I do. I feel like my head is stuffed and has no feelings.
    Will this go away with time? Is it common when most of the other symptoms are fading or less, why I don't feel connected?

    • @BenzoBrains
      @BenzoBrains  Год назад

      Yes this is one of the most persistent symptoms after withdrawal but it does eventually go away

      What can be done to cope up with this?

    Thanks for confirming some things I already knew, I just doubt myself when I'm in "a moment". I was taking 6mg of clonazepam a day, I'm down to 0.5mg a day. After 1 year.Can't wait to be off for good.

      Florida Boy - You were on a lot of clonazepam. That sounds like a fast taper. Come back and tell us how you are doing!

    Two years ago when I went to rehab I was taken off of lorazepam and lamictal. I had been in them for 10 years.
    I’m still in the fog because I’ve been through so much since rehab, there hasn’t been any healing. I feel like I’m waiting away. So sad.
