Un morceau d'une entrevue que mon amie Sarah Wood a fait avec mes grands-parents en 2008 pour le cours de français cadien à Madame Amanda LaFleur à LSU. Dans cette vidéo, ma grand-mère raconte une p'tite histoire du jour de leur mariage.
Un gros 'MERCI' à Erin Segura et son équipe pour avoir commencé le projet "Louisiana French Oral Histories: témoignages du passé, tremplins vers l'avenir" (Suivez le projet icitte: lib.lsu.edu/si...) qui l'a fait possible pour eusse de trouver ces entrevues qu'ont été fait avec mes grands-parents 14 ans passés! On croyait qu'eusse était perdu pour toujours, ça fait, ça m'a fait tellement émotionnelle quand j'ai lu le message de Erin qu'a dit qu'eusse a finalement trouvé les vidéos de mes grands-parents!

Part of an interview that my friend, Sarah Wood, did with my grandparents back in 2008 for Madame Amanda LaFleur's Cajun French class at LSU. In this video, my grandma tells a little story about her and my grandpa's wedding day.
A huge 'MERCI' to Erin Segura and her team for having started a project called "Louisiana French Oral Histories: témoignages du passé, tremplins vers l'avenir" (Follow the project here: lib.lsu.edu/si...) which made it possible for them to find these interviews that were done with my grandparents 14 years ago! We thought they had been lost forever, so I was completely overcome with emotion when I read the message that Erin sent me saying that they had finally found the videos of my grandparents!

It’s amazing seeing people like this still live here in our state.
Many of them are still alive and well, especially in places like South Lafourche. Sadly, my grandma passed away in 2010, and my grandpa passed away in 2016. We’re very grateful to have videos of them speaking French. They’re our family’s greatest treasure now that they’re gone. 💙

@@hershellumiere No. Chauvin is in Terrebonne Parish. It's the same as South Lafourche when it comes to French speakers, though. No, so South Lafourche is like Larose, Cut Off, Galliano, and Golden Meadow. :)

Have you experienced French speakers from further up the bayou say like Napoleonville or Donaldsonville...if there still are any?
@@whoahna8438 Yeah, so there are definitely still old French speakers up there. They just don’t always speak it in public. Like I say, Tout commence avec "Bonjour!" (It all starts with "Bonjour!") You just gotta greet older people with "Bonjour" and see how they react. You’d be surprised who speaks French there.
