Great video as always. I checked the Atari Lynx Carts with the Taito Super Pocket and it doesn't have the issue with the inbuilt games not playing when the cart is inserted. For me the Taito with all 5 Atari Carts is the perfect combination but the standard Atari Super Pocket looks great and is perfect for anyone new to the Evercade ecosystem. Keep up the awesome work!
This version is still available at a few retailers too. I think it’s one of the best implementations of a portable Atari console, except the Atari 50 on Nintendo switch. And at £50 it’s quite a deal for Atari fans or people curious about the Atari consoles.
This is a great looking Super Pocket and let me put my Limited Edition on display 😊 I love the Lynx collections and have both carts. The on system has some good Lynx games like Warbirds, Turbo Sub, Robo Squash & Checkered Flag 😊
@16:21 Cruelty to Legacy carts is not advised as that one is worth more than a Super Pocket, or will be soon... 😂😂 Great review as always Crazy! I wish the Woodgrain had that red for the back buttons, I'm not keen on pumpkin. 😉
Your subconscious didn't like that cart as it stopped the built-in games from working lol. Was fun to see, no harm was done. Cart Welfare will not be notified! 😉👍
I have the R&B one as the second nicest looking standard unit after the Taito, which I also bought, though I must admit I think the woodgrain is nicer still. That said I like the toy aesthetic the bubblegum green delivers, it's still the one I would prefer to be seen playing in public the most even if I had every version. It screams Taito without being as loud as the Capcom.
Handsome little unit. BTW Burger, the VCS 2600 was black with woodgrain (I still have mine in the loft), I think the colour language is black for the console and red for the fire button on the classic Atari controller. Or it's just coded as the controller alone, either way I have both Atari's in my top 3 best looking Super Pockets so far. A question: What about a Jeff Minter Llamasoft SP? The colour scheme would have to be wacky with one of those.
@@darthwiizius lol so it was. I'm forgetting. I think it's more possible we could see a Jeff Minter cart.. but jeez that's not going to appeal to everyone.
It’s amazing that there still appears to be limited availability of the super pockets. It really would be interesting to know if demand was massive, or if supply was limited. Or just a combination of the two. And will these issues plague the EXP-R? I hope it has a better availability at release. I’m waiting on in depth reviews on it before I buy but I’m so tempted to dive in. The larger screen and landscape controls will be a bit more comfortable for longer play and it would be more of a general day to day device for me. It’s just a pity there doesn’t seem to be any more information from Blaze about what exactly the issue was that delayed launch so much.
@@Stephen-2097 It would be nice to get more info.. but its not something Blaze have provided. Apart from the odd titbit like they've surpassed 1 million cart sales. They did say that the Super Pockets were good sellers last year and in turn sold a ton more carts which then led to stock shortages. I suspect we might experience more of this through the coming months. As for the EXPR.. its all too quiet for me. Hopefully we will hear more in the coming week.
@ What worried me about pre ordering is that it’s sold out for pre ordering on Funstock and Argos (I couldn’t actually see a listing for it last time I checked today), but Amazon are still taking pre orders. I just don’t want to have another disappointment so soon after the Super Pocket pre ordering situation 😆
@ I suspect we will never know what component was discovered to be bad in those 20 percent of units they mentioned. Was it something on the circuit board, the screen, the battery even. And from their blog it was disclosed they found it quite late, on production run 😬 I just hope they really have resolved and fixed it and none of the affected units go to customers. Maybe that’s why it’s delayed sooo long. It sounds like it was a significant issue. I really hope it wasn’t a safety issue.
@@MarquisDeSang Sure, definitely. More a casual device than a constant everyday use. Though I'm sure someone will have it as their main device. Maybe even their only gaming device.
@@CrazyBurgercan confirm I prefer to play the legacy of Kain kart on this.. my oled tv seems to make the evercade vs ps1/32 bit games far too dark. Whereas on this device it looks great
@@rmb1 I’ll admit they could have actually added a larger screen in this device and had ultra slim bezels whilst maintaining the pocketable size. I just wish the D pad was a bit better implemented as the VS and EXP varieties actually have great D pads.
I might enjoy this now but back when we were in TRAINING to be alcoholics ATARI was AWFUL garbage Japanese America rip off of my generation And intellivision SUCKED And in the early 70s game systems SUCKED
It's about time Blaze sent you stuff for review

Got all the super pockets, my Atari one is the wood grain but this is the next best colour after that.

I get that the wood grain is more nostalgic, but I like the red and black more. Still not gonna replace my taito with it though.
I got both!

There are enough Super Pockets now to make some fun custom ones. Capcom one with White back for Ryu, or Red back for Ken. 😉
...also plays Evercade carts (if you are lucky at trying to get the legacy ones and having all working).

It'd confuse the hell out of the Americans. Just put Tempest 2000 on it and I'd 100% buy one on launch, it's a perfect headphone game.

Total running time 18:38 😂
@@OptiVids lol I did laugh at my stupid comment as well. I had good intentions at the start.
To be fair though..my woodgrain vid was 45 mins long.
Ah yes. It’s about 58% Less details… 🤪
The woody one should have been the standard version...
Why they decided to go with the anonymous black and red version as a standard one? Meh...
They need to sort out that 500+ games claim because at any time there is about 8 carts available for purchase
More a gadget to put on a shelf than actually play.

I play the Supos a lot because they are cheap knockaround devices I don’t need to worry much about
Screen too small
retro gamers are not getting younger. I don't get the push for these small screens. Who is it for? Kids?
At least it actually fits in a normal pocket. Larger screens need larger pockets or a purse.

want a bigger screen
