- I receive a lot of questions about upgrading the firmware on the 5000P series Hantek oscilloscope such as this 5072P that U have upgraded to 200 MHZ in a previous video to demonstrate that there are no issues with a firmware update to the latest firmware if the procedure is followed correctly.

For anyoone interested, as of Jan 2019 there is a new firmware available for the 5000P series on the Hantek site. I can confirm it is working.
Thanks, total scope newb, have a genuine 5202P and this worked fine. Sure I could have figured it out, but it's comforting to watch someone else do anything firmware related first. As Tom Lake below says, newest is 1/25/19 and no need to create account like you did.
Funny, I was just on there checking and It still required a login to download.

@Randon Loeb You are correct, removing the cookie allowed for a download without logging in.....Still no changelog file in the zip.

Hi. I notice your physical model is the DSO5072P, but the model in your firmware screen is DSO5202B. The B model means it has a lot more memory than the P model. Does the hack also increase the memory?
do you make hack?
For the dso 5104c it will work too?
Hi ! Thank you for all your videos, good entertainment. Now, (I wonder how I dare to ask you, but I need to ask) Q1) had you the chance to test the scope -after the "conversion" (aka hack)- with a 200MHz signal ? I bet you did, but I did not see it on the video. I have a 5102P, I bought it from a local store here in buenos aires, argentina, it has the sw version 200929.0 (that seems to be 2020 sep 29th), that version is not anymore on hantek web, there is one from february 2021, so my second question is Q2) if you know where can I find this "old" version of the software. Having said that, I believe I can revert the hack -if something goes wrong for my particular scope- just by moving the file to its original name. I guess that based on the fact these scopes are Linux devices, hence the behaviour should be, like any Unix/Linux computer (but I can be wrong) so I ask you Q3) what do you think, if something goes wrong, I revert (to "factory state" so to speak) by changing the filename, right ? Again, Thank you !
I dont upgrade the firmware too often as they do not provide a changelog, so I dont know exactly what Im getting out of it.
Das Firmen Update ist ohne Fehler durchgelaufen. Aber in der System Information steht immer noch DSO5102P und nicht wie im Video DSO5202P.
Thanks for the tip! I was wondering if I could upgrade the firmware to the latest 5202P after doing the hack (thanks for the video on that, too!) Now I know. It worked flawlessly. BTW, the current version is dated 1/25/2019. My 5102P doesn't show its name in the startup logo, Only the Hantek name shows so I don't have any problem with the logo.
Yes i belive the logo still has no effect on the hack, i will see if there is a changelog for the latest release, thanks,
I just updated the firmware on my new 5072P and then I updated the new 5072P firmware to the 5202P firmware (I think). I ran the self calibration and it worked so I guess I'll have to look under the hood to see if the caps are removed or not.

Hi, I watched carefully your movies about upgrading the firmware and the front end modification of the DSO5072 to 200MHz version. As far I can tell, is that you know for sure that your system works ok if you watch to the rising (or falling) edge of a 100MHz square wave. What you show here ( 110MHz sinusoidal) it looks very bad on the scope. There is a large amplitude modulation which I suspect is not from the generator but caused by your scope front end modification. The same ugly behavior has FNIRSI 110MHz DSO. So, it's not good.

Hi can you help me, I have DSO 1062B problem is when I put I ohm measurment in auto mode show me 50.245 kohm shoud be on display E. But in manual works good.What to do.Thank you

but now,the 5070p change to " sw ver: 3.40.0, hw version: 1010",your hw version:1000,so a lot people want's to know the hack p still work or not
I can confirm that the latest DSO5202P firmware works with the DSO5072P

I have a DSO5072P and did the 'hack' but the model number never changed afterwards. It does have 2.00ns time division option now. The hardware version is 1010xffff8108 and the software version is 3.40.0(2000929.0). It seems they have definitely been working to defeat the hackers who are attempting to add capabilities to their scopes. I change the file from dst1062b to dst1202b and do the reboot and it stays for a few minutes, but then it all reverts back to dst1062b. There must be a process that is watching these files and reverting them back to original. Oh well. Yup. This doesn't work anymore.
