why is YT only just now recomending this to me?! Bravo sir Edit: imagine playing bass on one hand, guitar on one hand and occationally throwing in some drum or vocal parts in there just for fun...?! The amazing part: this guys only has 2 hands!!
Your videos make me sad because there aren't enough people listening to your works man. You covered pretty much all of their discography with amazing skill. It is rare so find such dedication. Amazing
Lateralus was their masterpiece for so long; but, the wisdom from time/age of Fear Inoculum sets such a stage for Descending being their Magnum Opus. It is such a channeled peak of talent all coming together in an orchestral experience.
Listening to this I thought of the apostle Paul writing that the greatest things were Love, Hope, and Faith... Then I thought that Inspiration should be added to that list. Exceptional.
The complexity of the music is really emphasized by this performance. It’s chaotic beauty is a layer that you really brought to life. Your brilliant talent is very much appreciated by a long time TOOL fan.
You've a true gift . How you executed the complexity of this album on the piano is not something many people could do . Really enjoyed this . Well done man !
Bruh I legit stopped everything I was doing, and just closed my eyes for the entirety of this Fear Inoculum Suite. Gently rocking back and forth as I slipped in and out of a meditative state. I.....I mean I'm sure its all been said by now but you nailed the entire freakin' album...and 7empest...I mean.....DUDE. Flippin' unbelievable man. Bravo.
I literally just found Mr. Everall, a year after he gifted us his awesome take on the great FI and I also just finished my meditative trance with the whole album- lights low, head back, un-disturbed… Holy F’in Hell- you can literally lose yourself in his melody- well their melody but you know- I’m still a CD guy so I need to burn this or pay homage to Colin and buy direct- prefer the direct route: so Mr. Everall how do we get this on CD?🤘🏽🔥🌀
@@m.w.7882 Sorry for missing this comment! I've got all the .WAVs downloadable from my website, and then you could download and burn them from there: colineverall.com/audio/
Dude? You're a madman. And to not only have the sheet music on your website for the VERY FAIR price of $100, but to have transcribed it in the first place? You're a legend. Congrats.
Fuuuuck... You have 4?! Four full albums of tool transcribed to piano? Damn how is this video not at the top!! you should change the price for Fear Inoculum to $100 man, you are truly a legend
Thanks so much, man! I really appreciate this! Makes it all worth it. 🎹🤘 And thanks, I'll consider it. I do like to keep the prices affordable though, as it's more about sharing the love for the music.
Ooh, are we starting a cover list? Right in two - Beard of Harmony ft. Yann Phayphet Killer set, Colin. I also appreciate that you make your transcriptions available; if I ever get to this level, I'll hit you up!
I rarely like solo instrument covers because usually the vocals are not well merged with the rest, but you made everything sound amazing and nicely combined together. Congrats! I loved it!
only 40 seconds in, i am already fascinated with your rendition of a work i've myself studied endlessly since the release. Too much time indoors, perhaps, LOL
Your version of ‘Invincible’ is totally amazing and captivating. I play it on guitar and understand the complex rhythms and you nail. I still can’t get my head round how your left hand is doing one melody in perfect timing while the right hand is doing 2 completely different melodies with different time signature 🫡
@@ColinEverall Well, I'm no Danny Carey, but it sounds amazing to me. I've shared your piano version with friends that don't like Tool, and they thought it was beautiful.
Really well done it's very intesting to hear the music raw like this. I very much enjoyed Tempest I was curious how you would convey the atmosphere. Im always amazed how you guys do two separate things with both hands it's like to split you ur brain in two haha. Good job man

Lastly, as other listeners have said, I am listening to this in its entirety at once, it's a work of art, you deserve it for what must have been a monumental amount of work! I may even listen to this as much as I listen to the original album.
@@ColinEverall Hi Colin, just purchased your sheet music for "Pneuma" - you have inspired me to dig out my old piano skills. I notice you seem to use a tablet in front of you while playing, are you using an app for the sheet music, or is it just a cheat sheet? Thanks
@@chrismichaelides9921 Hey, thanks so much for the support! Really appreciate it! Yes, the app is called Next Page and I use a bluetooth foot pedal for changing pages.
This is so amazing! There was a post on the Tool subreddit about your work a few days ago, so I ran over here, and your cover of FI has been playing nonstop. What an amazing work of art and what an amazing amount of work it must have taken to translate the very essence of the album into a piano piece! I used to play the clarinet as a teen and would translate songs I loved into clarinet pieces, and I remember it was frustrating when I didn't get it right, but so rewarding when I was happy with the result. So, in a way, I can imagine the process and the satisfaction with your absolute beast of a FI piano cover! Congratulations, it really rocks ❤🤘🏼
As a lifelong piano player and massive fan of Tool, this is absolutely incredible. I'm so curious about how you approach practicing some of the more complex parts.
Thanks so much! I did have to devise almost new techniques to play certain parts, then I just drill the sections out separately until muscle memory takes over; then bring the parts together. I’m happy to answer any questions, so fire away! 😊
For Invincible, how do you approach the 3 ascending notes that repeat over the part in 7 before the vocal comes in? Do you just brute force the synchronization 1 measure at a time and then do it again with the next until it starts to sound fluid? Or do you recommend a more fluid approach and trust your right hand doing those 3 notes for a long time and letting it emerge by itself against the left hand? Would I be correct in saying practicing the intro riff with just the left hand until it's automatic is the most important thing to get going on this?
@@SaschaAntropov-i2o Great question! Funnily enough, as I was worrying how I was going to approach that part as well, I found the easiest way was just to keep your eye on the main melody and, because you know that it’s only just those 3 notes in ascending order, just recognize which note of the main melody the next one comes in on, and play it accordingly. Does that make sense?
While this sounds really good, it gives me more appreciation for how good the heavy guitar drops are. Pneuma doesn't have the same punch in those drops as with the guitars.
Look, I'm going to go out on the edge here, and say maybe "melodically" this is more enjoyable than the original? Don't hate me. Obviously Danny Carey takes it to the next level ... As other commenters have mentioned, it's the blending of the vocals into the piece that makes this so awesome. SUBSCRIBED. BTW big time Tool fan.
Well Sir that was the best $20 bucks spent( would’ve paid you more if asked) for your TOOL library thru your website/Souncloud-a tip of the 🎩 for your tremendous skills and obvious hard work- you’ve have enriched my life, my commute and my meditations….🤘🏽🔥🌀

hearing these covers reminds me of Westworld season 1, where they had all those modern songs played by the piano player in the saloon
the intro to pneuma is literally a drum intro, how you managed to perfectly do it on piano is mind blowing
As a Tool maniac, thank you for this. Absolutely beautiful.

Unpopular opinion: The album version of Culling Voices is an amazing track. This rendition is epic.
Probably because it lends itself to a piano cover more than the others
