  • In this video, I show you how I have been growing a key lime tree in a pot for the past 3 years. This tree is a loner in my backyard tropical oasis in the fact that it is the only key lime currently. This is the first year it has produced so many key limes and it seems to be accelerating.

Thank you! It is going on 3 years old now. I purchased it in May 2022 in a 2" pot. In May of 2023, it had grown to not even 1 foot tall. So, in the last year, it has grown multiple feet by keeping it inside my indoor greenhouse during the winter and outside during late spring through early fall.

That's so cool! I planted one from seed two years ago. It is about a foot high now. Maybe it will start fruit next year.😊

Thanks! I will post a video for the next batch of key limes produced. I will try to document how many flowers it drops also.

@@craigweinzapfel what growing zone are you in?
I haven't had the time to check through all your videos but how are you winterizing your citrus

I am in 6b. We bring all of these plants inside over the winter. Plants that require high humidity, such as the cacao, are put inside of a large plant grow box that mimics a tropical environment. The others are place in our utilty room. There are no windows in there so we added an abundance of grow lights. They do well enough to keep flowering and add new growth, but they are ready for outdoors by the time spring gets here.

I am glad you brought this to my attention as it is very interesting to watch. This round of flowers has had about half of them aborted so far. At the same time, the tree is flowering more on other limbs.
