When I was a kid in the late 80s, a Soldano SLO was the dream amp to have. Couldn’t afford it then but the SLO I have now isn’t going anywhere. It’s a classic design and I think you will find your Avenger will cut through the mix really well in a band situation. The EQ controls work great and Mike Soldano is one of the truly nicest guys in the business.
I managed to scoop up a Soldano Hot Rod 50+ last year and I gotta say. I love it. I usually find 50 watt amps lacking in the huevos department, and this one is sort of in that category. But what it lacks in growl and heft, it makes up with gnarly harmonic midrange girth. That creamy, creamy Soldano midrange. Great amps!
This is number one on my list of dream amps. I played one years ago and it had me giggling like a school girl the entire time. I couldn't get over how clear and punchy it was. Palm muted chugs we're knocking the wind out of my chest. I will own one someday. Thanks for the great video, it totally reaffirms what I experienced all those years ago when I jammed through one. 🤘🍻🤘
First thing I have to do is! Thanks you for doing your demos of amps with a guitar tuned to standard pitch! I'm old school and want to hear a guitar tuned to standard E or Eb that's how all my favorite bands tuned to from the `80's. I'm sick of hearing demos done with guitars tuned way down several steps! That amp sounds Killer and has that old school Thrash sound of Metallica and Anthrax, I'm going to have to invest in one. Thanks for your awesome demos of amps and keep them coming!
This Avenger sounds every bit of awesomeness that my SLO does. Without being in the room and the usual RUclips compression and blah, blah, blah, with this type of playing, they are indistinguishable. I boost my SLO with a MXR GT-OD, btw. I realy need to dig mine out of storage!
Yeah you need to keep this amp!🔥🔥🔥 I got to try the SLO module and surprisingly the synergy SLO module sounded amazing though Hasty’s Mesa 2:90 power amp. It definitely sold me on synergy modules cause I can’t afford the real deal.
Only a little. I have the Titan, and have had a couple sets of the 36th Ann. PAF pickups. Briefly, tone zone and evo. Haven't been 100% in love with any of them but I need to try some more stuff.
Man these Amps make my brain hurt. How does Soldano make distortion sound sooooo F’n CLEAN!!! God I have to have either this model or the Mac daddy SLO100 but Jesus $$$
@@kevindavid37 He’s using my Signature Alchemist pickup from Voodoo Custom Pickups, and I couldn’t be happier to see Kyle enjoy it so much! I absolutely rips!!! 💪🔥🤘
Does anything NOT sound good through that Mesa Cab? I've ordered a Mesa 4x12 Straight Cab and it should be arriving mid week. I'm gonna be using a Boss Katana Artist MKII into it. Then when the Peavey 6505 comes back in stock, its gonna be paired with that cab. 😈🤘
The only amp I have ran through a Mesa 4x12 that sounded horrible was a Splawn Nitro SS 50. Through my Bogner cab it sounded completely different. #Strange
@@belligerentamateur Nice. Then I have a question that maybe you could answer on FAQ'n Friday if you want or here, I don't mind ;) I ordered a Ceriatone Chupacabra inside the King Kong platform last month, but I've been looking into Splawn amps for a while now too, so do you think it'd be worth the money to have a Splawn also or they are too close, sound wise? I can have a pretty good deal right now on an Egnater Armageddon, but I am wondering if I should wait for a used Splawn to come around (or order a new one in the future).
I had the 50 and I got similar vibes but it definitely doesn't have the same clarity and sparkle. BUT, that not the HDM100. If I find one for a fair price, I will surely grab it!
@@nickharper8145 I can point out a lot of differences, but let's differentiate something, two amps may track identical but sound similar but different in the room very easily. Plus, the way they push air may also be different.

You should send me your SLO with the EVO. They should fit in the same package
@@belligerentamateur Hi, very good sound. Is it the loop or non loop version?
Metal Matt Damon is awesome! Keep up the great work brother.
Thrash Damon at your service
@@belligerentamateur LOL. Perfect!
"a tighter rectifier, i wonder why?" that was priceless brother!!! the avenger sounds pretty badass!!!
Hahaha. Whoops!
Best tone yet, that I’ve heard from you Kyle. Great video.
This one def has the special sauce
From all your videos, i think this the best sounding amp by far! Totally in love!
Yeah, it's sounding killer on the playback

Absolutely man! Glad you're enjoying and I can be of service. This amp is NASTY and was super fun to play.
Soldano ain’t no joke.
Sounding killer. It's always great to see the Seattle sound getting some representation.
It will be getting a lot more on my channel in the future, I love this thing
really appreciate the long form videos dialing different tones, just what most of us "chuggers" would do with a new amp. thanks
Daaaamn this sounds outstanding
Dude, it records like a damn beast

Effectively the same without bells and whistles, slightly different output
@@OTTOAUDIO Not a lot of bells and whistles on the SLO to begin with! Xfmrs are the biggest difference, depending on what and how you play.
You know I appreciate you, brother. That being said, send me your SLO
That sounds great! Much better than i thought it would. I want one of these now!😎
They're absolutely killer!
I get Madball Tones ALL day with this and an EMG 81 with or without a boost. My Avenger loves the Maxon OD-9
No doubt!
that orange schecter is FIRE
Love this guitar, it's won me over
Recent subscriber, loving how you still crush skulls with E Standard tuning! So sick of downtuned guitars. Keep it up!
Awesome amp 🤘 great demo as usual Thanks
No doubt! Thanks for checking it out!
Hahahahah “well this sucks... now I have to keep it.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 knew that was coming. Best demo of this amp ever bro (I own one)
Hahaha, I honestly fucking hate when this happens!!
THE GOAT! This amp will ruin you for all other tones, Guaranteed.
I don't know about THAT, but it's definitely made it's way high on my list of favorite tones! Haha
I’d love to see you get the Driftwood Purple Nightmare on this channel. That’s the dream amp I’m on the hunt for
My buddy that has the Granophyre he let me borrow also just got a Mini Nightmare, so........
@@belligerentamateur YES!!!! that would be awesome to do a review!
Avenger >>> all. This circuit is tidy without bells and whistles like slo100. Just pure power, snarl & tone.
IT's a nasty one man. Has me won over quick

Dude the synergy SLO module sounds insane. I love it
Soldano are legend
That they are!
That was fast! @kyle bull what tubes are in it? Preamp and power ?
Power are JJ 6L6, Preamp is an assortment, with Tung Sol being a V1
Had one of these. Had a weird dynamic thing about it and I sold it 😢. Yours sounds better
Outstanding! Really enjoyed this one ! 🤘😎
Thanks man!
New here,
Any experience with Dimarzio pick ups?Just asking since you play with all these great amps, like the approach and riffs very much.

Great video man!! Definitely on the radar now 😂🤘🏼
It's a nasty amp dude, I bought it on a whim and now I'm in love
Seems that you‘re massively in love with that Explorer lately
It's so funny because the last time I played it before I tore it apart, I wasn't feeling it. Now it's all I want to play. Haha!

I have never heard of the Soldano Avenger...is this something new or more recent? Sounds great!!
It's an old design! Supposed to be a single channel SLO circuit but they're quite different
This is the way to review amps thanks
Glad you approve! Thanks for checking it out!
Nice!!! Great riffing. Love the sound from the guitar too. What kind of pickups do you have in it?
Thanks man! This one has a Voodoo Custom Pickups Alchemist i the bridge. Small winder but he makes some great stuff at great prices!
@@belligerentamateur WOW! 18.9K ohms and an A6 magnet. That's a beast of a pickup! Definitely gets the results though.
This amp with an orange 2x12 is unreal as well.
Never tried but I bet it's cool!
Awesome amp bro.
It def is! Thanks man!
From the tones you get on RUclips I would thing that VHT Deliverance would be your favorite. Idk why buy the tones you get remind me of that amp
It's not my favorite, but it's definitely an amp I love
Would love to hear a comparison with the avenger and 5150iii.
It shall be done
Nice. What pickup is your bridge?
Voodoo Custom Pickups Alchemist
No bull. Yeah I prefered the soldano avenger 100 to the slo100 havent tried the new slo100 yet though...

Awesome amp! If you can find one the Jet City JCAHDM100 is an exact clone of this and is even a little cheaper (when you can find it)
I’ve done in room shootouts and jet city doesn’t quite get there. Prob due to OT & PT
