I came here for Jon, stayed for the t shirt, enjoyed the amp very much! Killer playing and tracks. Really shows what it can do. You always do the best amp demos
My favorite sound is one of these old SLO or 5150 rigs using the line out to slave through all the time based effects into a solid state power amp for a dry/wet or dry/wet/dry rig. The best part is, if you use a rack based, stereo FX processing unit, like a Helix Pro rack or Axe FX, that can run different effects on the left and right, you can run all the time based effects on the solid state, and then run other effects on the actual amp's FX loop, and then other effects you can run on both, and simply trigger them on an off with your laptop or a digital automation program controller unit via midi. Likewise, you can use that line out through a power amp sim/IR loader direct to front of house (another great example of something like a Helix or Axe FX coming in clutch for something other than just amp sims), and do dry/wet that way. It's an expensive setup, but some of my favorite 80's and 90's bands ran their live rigs that way, and even then, some of my favorite metalcore bands would double track rhythms and reamp leads this way in studio back in the day.
Love that you often feature my favorite guitar brand, ESP. I'm wanting the Engl Ironball SE after watching your review of it, but I've always lusted after the SLO for decades lol. Great stuff!
@@SonicDriveStudio Haha. For sure. I’ve been a fan since my Dad took me and my friends to see the Conan The Barbarian movie when I was 12. We spent the next months hitting each other with sticks recreating epic Conan sword fights. 😂👍
Your production quality was really awesome before but like this is another level with the sound and video. Awesome job! High quality amp requires a high quality production??? Sounds killer
What a great demo! Thank you. For more rack gear from Marshall, Mesa Boogie, TC, Fractal, Line 6, Eventide, Strymon and everyone at music industry. Please, take rack gear back!
They really should make the tabs on the side of it detachable. That thing is basically a large lunchbox amp, and if the mounting tabs can be removed then the amp instantly becomes better suited for sitting atop a speaker cab.
Unrelated but hopefully you'll see because this is the latest video: Thank you for doing the blind tests of modelers vs real amps, they're just so perfect. Since the differences in using an amp vs. a modeler would be in the setting parameters, I wanted to ask how you do yours. Do you dial it in super close, EQ after the amp (I bet you use the same IR and input signal), or are they actually that close with the same numbers? Thanks.
Thanks! I never use post EQ in those videos. Usually it starts with the amp and then I dial in the modelers as close as I can. Sometimes extreme settings are required
If you want to buy a Soldano Amp for your own first sell your sound all your possessions then you'll be maybe halfway there. I may sell all my other amps to get one. I have wanted one since the '90s.
Hey Jon, great video and tones as always. I just ordered the Soldano X88IR Preamp and I want to use my Axe Fx 3 in the effects loop of the X88IR. The weird thing is that the Soldano had one send and 2 returns. I’m confused because the preamp is stereo and says the effects loop is stereo. Can you offer any advice? Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards, Keith
@ I’m assuming so. I’ll try going from AxeFx3 output 3 (L&R) to the L&R returns on the Soldano EFX loop. I thought that you may have done this setup before. I really do appreciate you replying back so quickly. You are 👏 awesome! Thank you, Keith
"the Astro as a more affordable option", but stil being €2300,-. Do you think, with affordable not really being a selling point for Soldano, that if you splurge, splurge big and spend the extra 900 for an SLO30? (the big guys are even double the astro)
Hey Jon, I've come to REALLY enjoy your videos and am also liking the tones coming from Laney. Do you have any thoughts on the Ironheart Foundry series solid state amps like the Leadtop and Dualtop? It'd be cool to see how they stack up (or not) to their tube brothers. I just haven't been able to find any resources comparing them tonally. If anyone could bring them to life it would be you. EDIT: Thank you for putting in the massive amount of work necessary to help people find amps they might enjoy!
@@SonicDriveStudio I hate to hear that man; hopefully there is some resolution on their behalf that makes things a bit simpler. Regardless, always looking forward to the next upload!
The new BAD versions of the SLO were tweaked to sound better with V30s. Or at least, the new OTs work much better with V30s and I agree. I think it sounds great!

SLO rack rules! The coolest thing about it is that it's magenta!
Aesthetically pleasing indeed!
Great demo! You’ve got that guy dialed in and sounding amazing!
Thanks so much man! You've been killing it too man, amazing channel!

That amp sits really well in the mix ! I enjoyed those demo songs the tone is so precise and clear sounding! The intro was rad too !
Is it the beer i had for dinner talking, or is this one of the most exquisite demo songs you have produced? ❤
I hope the latter! Or both... in any case, thanks! :)

Finally an amp that matches that sick LTD of yours!
You'd have to make a playlist of your amazing demos. I'd listen to it all the time.
Awesome heavy rock demo. Love the tune and tone Jon
An slo 100 rackmounted and a commando tshirt!!! Welcome back to the 80’s😍😍
😎
Very cool…thanks for the video. Been building a fryette rack recently. I’d say racks are the “next thing”.
The Arnold T-Shirt was icing on the cake. 😂
Glad you caught that! 😅

All the high Gain amps that he's done have sound amazing
Easily your best demo EVER! Looks amazing, sounds incredible, and WHOA, RACK MOUNT SLO! Legendary!! Superb video, my friend.
Thanks buddy!
KILlER KILLER video as always Mr Jon Symons !! Amazing riffing and tones dude !!!!
Many thanks!

Great vid, Jon! Thank you
Spectacular! Give me 14 of these!
14 Are rookie numbers. You gotta pump up those numbers. 🔥
Please use my affiliates 😅
That will be roughly 63,000$ (before tax)
That demo song kicked ASS!!!!!
Best thing about rack systems is that theyre harder to steal than quad cortex , tonemaster pro and other light floor modelers.Rack is Back!*
It's incredible how this almost 40 year old design is still the defacto standard amp for rock and metal.
It's a testament to how good the original designs are
More miced cabs please. Great video

Yes a miced cab. I enjoy listening to the I.R's and miced cabs separately.
fun intro song!!
Yep. It does the thing. 👍
Any chance of you doing captures of the amp in the future?
*Rack this with a Furman power distributer, tuner, noise gate and possibly a multi effects unit and you're ready to go!*
I see that JEL 50 lingering in the shot up there
You're the first one who has noticed! It has been in multiple videos already haha! Review coming out soon ;)
Awesome color. Lamborghini purple both in price and color.
Sounds fantastic, glad to see they brought it back!
Oeh Nice 80's vibe track, also that thing is modern and vintage at the same time, looks (and sounds) like a winner to me!
Man I would love a sds capture pack for qc
What a dream!!
Now you're only missing a snake skin SLO100 head 😂😂
All the demo song is missing is Sammy Hager singing over top!
Compare JCM 800 to This Soldano i prefer this SLO 100 BRO🔥
Hoping for an X8-IR vid
Amp also doubles as a boat anchor .
It's not light! Big transformers etc. Quality components

Pretty compact
is that a JEL 50 on the top shelf in the backround?

That's nice ! but the price is too high for me to afford $4,499.00, I'm looking at the new Soldano X88-IR Stereo that's half the price.
The definition of Tasty Tones! Insane amp and video ❤
Thank you!
Have you checked out ML sound lab free halloween IR. Would like you get your input on it

Bad ass but if you add some effects and stuff it will be heavy AF
Could very likely replace my SLO30. Same dimensions, more watts but with a real systems level master volume. My wallet is crying.
Wait what happened to the X88IR?!
They also released that!
@@SonicDriveStudio😮😮😮 how did I miss that?!?!
great sounding !!! but the price.....!!!! is far far expensive..
Straight 🔥
Why would I pay that amount of money when I bought a Peavey 6505 plus 120 watt head that sounds f****** amazing

5 fk§$§" thousand Euros 😂Keep that shit Soldano.
Amazing tone, but 7k 😅 gotta stick with this ToneX thing hahah…
It's not 7k here. 4999 in Europe
fantastic 80s song
Glad you like it!
Click video…. Checks price…. Leaves video…come back for playing.. leave again because $4500 is insane!!!!

Just a little bit ;)
If you want all tones and amps just get a fractal or a quad cortex, done
*Not sure why my previous comments posted numerous times??!*
I only saw one :)
Great product I am certain, but nearly 5k USD? No sir
👀👀👀👀
