The great Neil Murray's bass is a massive part of this song (in whatever version). Coverdale should never have let him go. His playing is the real Whitesnake bass!

    • @limit3868

Thomas Schwarz yeah granted that line up had some great tracks. But Coverdale wanted the money, he let them go for John Sykes because he knew John Sykes was a master axeman and could help him break America! The 1987 record is my favourite of all time, I like all line ups, but that one was special. And it sold around 10 million worldwide. Obviously people think similar. Yeah it’s a different sound, but it’s phenomenal. Slip of the tongue is just best left unspoken of.

Sadly the vocals are not doing justice to the fabulous musicians.
The 'backing track' (for want of a better word) is played with sensitivity and class by the musicians. Neil Murray plays with subtlety and creates a great groove with the drummer. The keyboards add lovely texture. And Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody - ever complementing each other musically and never stepping on one another's musical toes - just fabulous.
Sadly the vocals let the side down - badly.
I almost wish they had held on to Jorn Lande, (who though during his time with these guys was a Coverdale 'clone', sang with power and in tune...)

Bwahhhh..... The original Whitesnake cover of Bobby Bland is much better. OK the singer does by moments do a good effort to come relatively close, but nullifies that quickly with odd own accents. I stopped listening to Whitesnake from 1987 onwards, and saw here on RUclips that was a very wise decision. This effort here is soso, it's a bit too slow, and the singer should have remained closer to the original, without personal frivolities. He also misses the stage pressence of a young Coverdale, before the latter ran into two agressive icehockeyplayers, and made a joke about their loud shirts. You know, since he started singing like a castrato. Coverdale isn't aging very nicely either.
