    Shooting videos twice is the best. Same, same, but different. Great education as always. My Highland reservoir is all rock. And it fluctuates constantly.

    Here in the deep south, we've been in full-blown post spawn for a month now. On your local lakes, look for the mouths of creek arms that have current going across the mouth. Those bass are suspended facing into the current, waiting for an easy meal that's caught up in those eddies. Jerkbaits worked really fast are your friend. If you're on the bank, a jerkbait will also be money if you work it fast. Follow the current if you can. Look for things that stand out in that current - a lone dock or a clump of bank that protrudes out into the water, whatever is different.

    Tim, this is an amazing video. I still can’t believe how much info you pack in. You don’t waste a single word. What happens a lot with me is I have fish catches in the past that apply to your info but it happens without my realizing it(if that makes sense). Yesterday I was fishing Paradise Lake in Magalia only a few hours from your old stomping grounds. It’s a tiny highland res(yes there are tiny highland res out there🤣) and I was fishing from the bank in the back 1/3 of a very deep, very narrow creek arm that I could easily cast across. I was on a ledge 15ft above the water in the shade which was over more than half of the water and I was casting a little Karera across to a huge lay down on the far bank. On my 3rd cast I saw a LM following in the 12ft vis water about 3ft down. Every time I twitched the frog he would edge closer. He didn’t take it until it reach the shade line and then slurped it very quietly. I wasn’t even sure if he had it so I set and then there was no doubt. Good thing he was only 2 1/2lbs. I would never have gotten a bigger fish up that bank. I hadn’t thought about it until your video but he waited until being back in the shade to make his move. Thanks again for all you & Matt’s content. You’ve taught me more that I thought possible.

    Know there's way too many variables between species, North to South, etc etc but wonder if you'd ever consider doing videos like this specially for smallmouth in my case or spots assuming they act differently from largemouth. Pretty sure smallies act different than large mouth as far into and outta the spawn.
    Always enjoy your videos because my lake demands more finesse technics than power. Keep them coming brother!

    The lowland reservoirs in our area, west Texas, have no grass due to previous drought years. The only current is wind generated. What would you focus on for the deep bite?

    I feel you on the technical/camera issues Tim. I just had my video camera stolen out of my truck🤦🏼‍♂️. Set me right back and lost a lot of footage.
    8 days left in my zone 20 prespawn season here. I'm on the great lakes, the water temps are still low and they aren't as thick up shallow yet. Still wacking them on chatterbaits and 4.2 hazedongs on a flashy swimmer (this is a must try finesse swim jig)
    Cheers fellas

    I cut my teeth wading the tributaries of the Lower Coosa lakes, over 40yrs ago. You mentioned the tops of pools in creeks; here's a juicy li'l nugget I've guarded for decades. It's no secret the Gray Minnow Roostertail is the undisputed King of Summertime Creek Lures (for sheer numbers), but another deadly lure I've been using for years is the ultralight finesse swimbait. Lake Fork Tackle's Baby Boot Tail Shad, specifically in Magic Shad color, is one of those "special" bass lures. Especially thrown in the tops, or heads of creek pools. That li'l dude catches everything that swims, everywhere it swims, but is especially deadly in this situation. On a ⅛oz weedless jighead, you will be amazed at what all eats it; not only the smallest fish but the largest as well. It is as close to the perfect lure as I've found in my 5 decades of bass fishing.

    Matt and Tim I've been following y'all since before it was Matt and Tim and it was either just Matt or Matt and this other young guy. How many of y'all remember that? My point, I've used y'all's tactics and just upped my game tremendously. BUT I would pay money to see y'all come to Sml and throw them crank baits and get into these schools of fish like y'all talk about. I have no doubt y'all could catch fish. None what so ever. That's not my question.. my question is would y'all figure it out in a day? Or 2? I've fished it for 15 plus years and I don't have a damn clue. I do know that since this livescope is on 8 out of 10 boats these fish do not get a chance to relax. Day or night. And that has a huge impact. Fishing is changing in a huge way. And I'm no hater on the live scope, but I think it has made many take a step back. I don't want to have to use a damn screen to catch fish. I'd rather get in 10 foot or less and turn my electronics off. But the I would really like to see how y'all would break Smith mountain lake down. It about 6 hours from Dayton. Elite series has been there.

    I live on Lanier and I would love to see more in depth videos about fishing for that who percentage of Spots that suspend 40 ft down in the tops of the timber in 60 or 80 ft of water. It's hard to find them 20 ft down in 40 ft of water but there are some places like that. However, year round there is always a huge population that stays in that deep timber and it's very hard to go down and get them but that's the deal on clear reservoirs like Lanier and Hartwell but no one ever really covers it. They just mention it in passing or mention throwing topwater over it but that's only one aspect of it.

    • @markbuckallew4689
      @markbuckallew4689 2 года назад +1

      Hey David, my son and I are in the exact situation. My son lives close to the upper part of Lanier and I live close to the upper part of Hartwell.
      We've always been & still are "bank bangers", having no clue how to fish deep water. We sure could use a few detailed videos about the how, what & whens of fishing deep water.

    • @DavidMccallister65
      @DavidMccallister65 2 года назад

      @@markbuckallew4689 I hear ya man. I fish deep on Lanier but "Deep" is relative. When someone on Lanier says, "We caught them shallow today..."
      There's a fairly decent chance that they caught them in 15-20 ft.
      The upper two creeks fish differently than the south but they still get deep up there. Down south there is a massive population of 3-5lb Spots that spend their entire lives out over 60,80,100 feet changing the Herring and shad around and then suspending 30-40 ft down in the timber over 60-80 ft and I can't tell you how many days I've fished miles and miles of shoreline from 25 ft to 0 ft banging my head against the wall and never getting a bite or never catching a keeper but on every single one of those days, as I idled out over the ditches and deep points the screen blew up with fish in those trees but I didn't want to fish that way.
      But if there's one thing that I've figured out, it's that to be a successful Hammer on Lanier, you HAVE to be able to catch those fish.
