America's Cup wing keel was 1983 and was designed by the Australians. It was the first time America lost the cup in 132 years. Love your boat. I saw a few things that you have that I want to implement on my boat. Cheers!
Yeah such a great story we watched the doc recently ! We’re curious what the features are that you liked and that you want to implement on yours, can you share? 😃🙏🏽
@@SailingAdhara I am doing a complete restoration of an Alden 44, #001, that was built in 1977. I like the idea of adding a chain stopper forward of the windlass. Does it help keep the chain off the deck? I also like the windlass controls in the cockpit as well as having rescue slings on both sides of the cockpit.
Wow cool, that’s a nice boat 😍 yeah never thought of it that way but yes the chainstopper keeps the chain off the deck! Another feature that’s great (but we don’t have) is a Dutch boom brake! 😃🤙
That’s Amazing, I’ve been watching sailing channels for years and never have I seen such a well organised Yacht. It’s taking the stress out of Blue water sailing I imagine. I honestly beginning to think sailing was to dangerous and now from what I’ve seen that’s no longer an issue. I’m Australian so I want a Wing Keel.😂All the best and enjoy 😊
Ha! That's awesome to hear thank you for that! It was actually NZ that had the wing keel :) There's a great doc on Netflix about the race worth checking out!
It's a new & unique interiorless type sailboat which improves the sailing aerhydrodynamix functionality & reduces the cleaning person-hours effort required 😂
Enjoyed the video, thanks. Was just wondering about the name of your lovely boat - is there a story to that? All the best from Perth, Western Australia. Arvind
We decided to keep the name when we bought the boat. Adhara is a star in the Canis Major constellation and during winter in the northern hemisphere we can see her every night 🤩✨
Nice! -- QUESTION -- . Flopper stopped looks so good on ytouube commercials. However, I don't see anyone sailing channels on youtube using them. What is going on? Isn't rolling the biggest downside to sailboats? Do they not work??
Good one, thanks for the question! I would say they work and our friends @seethelittlethings have used one from time to time! But the priority is always to try and anchor somewhere you DON'T roll! :)
@@SailingAdhara ..the video on youtube claims that they reduce roll to a lower amount than that achieved on a catamaran. If true it would seem like it would be mandatory equipment. The most important reason I would consider a Cat is rolling.. But if you can avoid it then it would be sailboat all the way.
