- It's been absolutely ages since I uploaded a VHS related video. Believe it or not, I still use the format. I hope you enjoy this quick test video of a new machine I've got in. Only time will tell if it's good enough to replace my Sony machine that unfortunately stopped functioning correctly.

This has took me back a fair few years, I remember my mates dad getting a nicam stereo vhs & tv and then getting a surround sound hi-fi and we hooked it all up, we all preferred different surround sound settings as well, it had to be early to mid 90's. Gotta love the old VHS !

Oh man! That is a sweet looking VCR.And it is really good to know that those inputs and outputs are for the old Antenna systems in the UK. I have a "Worldwide" VCR hooked up to the old CRT in my room, with the same kind of input, but US style output. I guess it's for people moving here but with old tapes? I bought it half for watching older movies or Doctor Who that I can't find on dvd and the like, and half for recording older game footage. Then, when I want to get that video uploaded somewhere I have another VCR connected to my desktop via a capture card. It isn't the highest of quality ways to get gameplay footage, but it's a lot easier than stretching the capture card cord all across the room.
Loving all the new videos Tom! VHS still kicks ass. I had a great panasonic video player but it just randomly stopped working and got thrown away... Looking to find another one, got loads of tapes want to watch.

I remember watching so many shows and films on VHS back when I was about 5-10 years old.. Haha I don't miss it at all, VHS can be a real hassle sometimes.
Defo brought back some memories, when I was a kid I used to cry when a tape ended. You know when it goes all dark, fuzzy and the sound crackles sometimes at the end! How embarrassing lol

I have one but it needs to be cleaned and I like how many videos you've been putting on RUclips.
And the popping and cracking are signs that you VCR need to be cleaned
this is a similar player to the one at my mums which is a sharp. we still have it we received it free from a TV set many years ago and the VCR is still going strong! but the DVD player what came as well in the set unfortunately gave in a few years back.
I find it cool that your "new" VCR has NTSC along with PAL, and SCART is such a foreign thing for me since I am from the US, we use either A, Composite or B, RF. and SCART never caught on. But at least you can buy US movies and play on your "new" VCR because it has that NTSC compatibility
I can remember when video recorders were huge and had a remote on a wire.
The noise on the audio could just be down to the heads wanting a clean. You might still be able to get a tape cleaning kit on ebay.

What odd looking connections. Scart is what you said? Rca is common and type f or what we have is the cable wire that screws on to the stud that mates the wire to the tuner connection. But its amazing seeing it because from usa its different
Movies doesn't need to be in ultra HD quality to be enjoyed. VHS ftw.
I was VERY impressed at the quality of the Blu-ray release of The Lost Boys. It was one of the earlier releases of the formats history so I wasn't expecting great things from it (a lot were just half assed releases from a sort of HD master they had lying around for the DVD restoration editions they made before and thus rather hit and miss). It looks and sounds fantastic though! Kudos to Warner for not screwing it up on an unproven format (given it was competing with HD-DVD too).
I couldn't agree more. The Lost Boys looks and sounds breathtaking on Blu-ray... I'm really glad I bought it even though I already owned it. Like I mentioned in the video (I think), I have started buying some of my fav films on Blu-ray even if I already have it.
ItsMyNaturalColour I did the same. I went on a massive Blu-ray buying binge to rip them to the media server and play them back on the Apple TV or other computers in the house. Managed to amass around 350 so far haha. Think I have everything I want now, other than new releases of course.

I would Like mine to work. It works But i get blue screen on the TV. I have Tried cleaning the heads. Playing with the scart. But still Nothing . I would Love to know what im doing wrong as i use VHSTapes alot

Get a LG 897T DVD VHS Machine, it can dub over from VHS to DVD, and DVDs are more modern by a long shot

ItsMyNaturalColour I totally agree Tom I have not used one of those for a long time I remember having an old 6 head Daewoo VHS player need to look for it in the attic it will be a nice trip down memory lane. Keep up the good work Tom, your retro stuff is always the best
