    When he says at 23:24 something like "keep as far away as you can from the places where people gather to insult each other and laugh at each other with their false gestures of friendship" , that reminds me why I haven't logged on to Facebook or Instagram for years now.

      Even youtube has the temptation to get involved or pulled in to these kinds of things. Its everywhere on social media. But channels like this are a great blessing. ❤ I have only just discovered Thomas Merton he amazes me. A Trappist Monk sounding as deep and as enlightened as any great Sage.

      The True God was pleased with His Prophet Jeremiah who wrote in Scripture that he had not sat with groups who were laughing and playing jokes. God condemned Jeremiah's neighbors, the men of Anathoth. God went through with everything He said He would do to His people at that time. He spoke to the captives about king Ahab being roasted. Jeremiah recorded their starvation, and recorded the fulfillment of prophecy of God to Moses that the eye of the woman would become evil towards her own child, and Jeremiah recorded in his Lamentations, women committing cannibalism with their own children. This was also verified in the book of Kings.

    I started following Thomas Merton a few years ago and reading his many books. He has helped me to be ok with myself and find the true, inner self that I’ve been afraid to recognize. It has helped my faith in so many ways. This man should be recognized by the Catholic Church as a Saint 🙏🏻

    Love this book so much. Great channel that I would like to emulate. Trappist monk at such a time in Mertons life that seems unfathomable To my basic perception. He just wrote a book and could do anything with his pedigree. He lived a life of solitude that I have to wait for. I have 2 young children so solitude is out of the question. But….. I will go on retreat when I have blessed my children with the most amazing childhood. Then I will go on 1 year retreat someplace in the east, Thailand maybe, India maybe.

    In the last few minutes is a meditation on accepting even having to live in a noisy City as Solitude, because it becomes the will of God for you. In the past 18yrs I have learned this as the truth. If it is not accepted it will not be understood what Fr Merton was writing about, and happiness there will not be found. Ancient prophet of God Isaiah wrote that God said He let Himself be found by people who were not even looking for Him. Perhaps this is why the Bhuddist Priest friend of Thomas Merton "Thich Nhat Hanh" has incorporated finding God into his Bhuddist prayer teachings, whereas basic information about the doctrine of Bhuddism will claim that they are not seeking God.

      Not a day goes by that I don’t listen to this great man’s thoughts.Merton ,though a Roman Catholic is for all times all peoples and all religions.He experiences the Divine the way all homosapiens do ,by the path of the mystic.This is the only one true way- always leads you to Him. Being a r.c. myself ,I always ask him in heaven to pray for me.😇

    Awesome reading! Every sentence was full of glorious wisdom. However, how do you remember every single bit of spiritual sentiment? This is something I struggle to remember at every moment. I usually draw from certain pieces of wisdom like faith, hope, courage charity, for whatever the moment calls for, but could you tell me how to remember every mystical sentiment, so I am able to recall, apply, practice, and maybe teach? “Solitude does not mean separateness” Love it!

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  4 года назад +13

      Hi William, I have no idea how to "remember" every single idea at every moment as I don't think it is in anyone's capacity to do so. All I can suggest is to simply surrender to this idea that there is "someone" here doing something, getting or attaining something, or controlling anything. The delusion that there is a person here in the first place who can make the call has to be seen through, then perhaps the Divine Will can take charge properly and direct us in our lives. All the best

    If the natural purpose of ignorance is to help us feel confident in our environment, is it not then a function of ignorance in our modern age to reflect only a cheap plastic consumable in the mirror?
    A love of confidence is a lesson of Irony unlearned.
    Intuition flows eternal from the fountain of our innocence; innocence is literally consumed by our confidence …Irony fills the cup equally for friend or foe.

  • @cherylmburton5577
    @cherylmburton5577 2 года назад +1

    St Edith Stein wrote very similar regarding there always be places or Churches where people (she made no distinction of race), could take refuge. Unfortunately for the Jews and others, this became impossible in Nazi Europe where she was writing from. | In the OT of the Holy Scriptures whenever the people of God became this way, equaling or surpassing the other nations in hate crimes against humanity through harassment etc.... God was not slow in executing judgement against them. St Peter wrote of the perception of humans regarding the timing of the True God of Christianity, and just because we do not understand it does not mean that God who is all Dynamic Energy is not moving full steam ahead. (2 Peter 3:).

      I’m guessing a secret is a special and deeply personal thing that only the secret holder knows about. That personal place of solitude is a space no one else can enter but you. Where we each experience our own spiritual journey. A place of solitude so special, so personal, so sacred. Like a secret. I may be wrong. I’d like to know too. 🙏
