Got a pair of the Garmont NFS and Oakley Light Assault. After having to endure the boots they give you in Basic training, these two are the most amazing things my feet have felt
Oakleys and reeboks are SO comfortble, but fir sure if your wearing these boots on rucks and doing everything putting in work related, youll be wearing them out in a few months. And oakleys for me, something bout them makes my feets extra hot. But really comfy.
I bought a pair of Bates hot weather Ranger boots. 85$ They have the drain holes in the inside. They are light weight and breathable. I wore them hiking in the Meremec National Forest in the middle of July. They are awesome 👌
I used the Gramont T8 in Iraq and the Wahiba Desert. They're comfortable, hard wearing and have few drawbacks. The leg height could be higher to reduce sand and gravel getting to your feet. I changed the laces for khaki 550 cord and had a leather oval patch inside the heels to reduce friction. Remember you're not always standing up. Sometimes you have to crawl.
My experience with tactical/combat boots is as follows: For Warmer times, Rocky S2V boots, hands (or should I say, feet) down. I have seven pairs of them, 2 RKC075, 2 FQ000102, all four in black, and I have the FQ000102 variation in tan, sage green, and mojave. Both when I was walking a beat, in a patrol car, and now in security, my favorite non-winter boots running. For the Colder times, I prefer the Matterhorn 1997 boots. With 200 grams of insulation, waterproof, and being a 10" boot instead of the standard 8", my feet stay warm and dry no matter I manage to get into. Three pairs in black, a tan, a sage green and a mojave pair I've tried others (Reebok, Altama, Haix, Irish Setter, Red Wing, Bates, Danner, Other Rocky Styles, Other Matterhorn Styles, 5.11, Ridge Belleville,) but these are to two brands and styles that I prefer. Your feet will probably tell you different. 🥾👮♂
My Oakley Assault boots were the best. Rucking and running and in the field they were great. Basic training boots are awesome if you take them to a boot shop and get the heal taken out and a new sole put on
I tried Oakley Light Assault boots in a shop. They were kinda on the snug side. Is it true that they break in nicely? Also one size bigger was really too big. So i think they are true to size, but still i feel like they'd give me some blisters until they break in. How was your first time experience with yours?
@@valarmorghulis322 they do run true to size. I have wide feet and mine were like a shoe it was great. I never had any complaints. I had the first version of them about 5-6 years ago.
@@valarmorghulis322 lite assault are ok if you like them Danner Tachyon is even better IMO. A few days and they formed to your foot. Oakley Lite Assault are trash for rucking and Field use, the regular SI Assault are definitely in Top 5-6 all time best IMO
Nice picks out your 7 i have the oakley SI Lite Assault, which my opinion the regular SI Assault are better especially for rucking. My TOP 10 for military and law enforcement 1. Haix GSG-9 2. Danner Tachyon GTX 3. Danner Tachyon Hot Weather 4. Rocky Sv2 5. Rocky C4T 6. Nike SFB 2 7. Altama Exospeed Hoplite sadly no longer made 8. Oakley SI Assault 9. 5.11 A/T 8 10. Under Armour Valsetz
Same cost as nike or any other fancy shoes 👟 but a lot more reliable on any terrain and dose fade out on rough use in one word satisfies the pocket and foot 🦶 both
My father in law is an airborne vet of 30+ yrs, and he liked some garamonts. He's been retired for 7 or 8 yrs now, but was a sgt major and spent time from like Grenada to Kosovo to Afghanistan several times and original Iraq. Still doing great helping brothers in north Carolina. Sgt mjr Wolfe
I have a question regarding the Altama Foxhounds. How is the sizing on the boot? Also does the Foxhound have a large toe box for my toes to wiggle around? Thank you!
Just did a 12 mile ruck in the Nike boots. My pinky toes are about to fall off. Way too narrow. Both Nike boots are narrow actually. I need a wide toe box, lightweight army boot
The oakleys are great for running, rucking, and everyday garrison use. They suck ass in the field though. They’re just not rugged enough. So thin and light I walked through wet grass and my socks were soaked lmao. But for garrison or rucks they are great. Comfortable too after broken in. Not nearly as narrow as the nikes
@@thirteenbanger7861 I tried Oakley Light Assault boots in a shop. They were kinda on the snug side. Is it true that they break in nicely? Also one size bigger was really too big. @@valarmorghulis322 Yes being that they are so thin they break in fairly quickly and the snug fit actually reduces your foot from rubbing inside the boot which will help with avoiding blisters. The wide bottom on them also help in reducing the chance of twisting your ankle. That’s why I mainly use them for rucking or running
Not the biggest fan of the Garmont T8. Doing crane ops on a Hemtt i ripped a big hole in the side. Also where your anckle is, the material starts freying. Yes theyre very comfy, but only having them for 5 weeks almost and they already have holes in them. Yeah no. But theyre a good boot
Thanks to the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war. All of that sudden back in 2001, desert boots become the crown Jewell of military boots. My humble opinion
Nice boots !! ... now donate them to charity and go get yourself a pair of German paratrooper boots. If you can not get them get the Swiss ones (perfect for mountains!).
fiendslegacy is go for the Garmot bifidas. Although I’m sure garment also do not offer resolves anymore, at least the sole cup is an item available for cobblers to order from Vibram unlike the S2V sole that is exclusive only to Rocky. So at that point it’s all a matter of finding a cobbler that is within that dealer network. But the main reason why I won’t get S2Vs anymore is because rebuilding was one of their original selling point for the S2V. From my experience tbh, USGI has always been adequate for me. If I wanted more comfort and lightness I’d go all the way to the Nike’s instead of something just a little more comfortable. So those two are my recommendations. If you value ruggedness and alright with just being just a little lighter than USGI then the Garmonts, if you need a good one for running or for garrison wear, Nikes.
if you're the type to buy a $200 pair of boots cause its got a brand name instead of workin with what they gave you, which honestly isnt that bad, maybe you're focusing too much on being tacticool
Rocky combat s2v boots are garbage ...serious problems with quality control , first pair of boots or shoes I've ever had to return in fifty years of wearing them

I had Garmont T8s. I loved them so much I still buy them.
The LEs I bought when I got home lasted for 4 and a half years.
the danner usmc rat boots are some of the best boots I have ever had
The best Dessert style boot , is the German Army Haix boot , paid just £55 for an unissued pair , Fantastically comfortable
I haven’t tried them but
Haix GSG-9 are the best IMO
Never ever put a zipper on a boot. Mud and sand gets in it and your fucked also it can break off.
When a boot is short, is not longer a boot, is a shoe.

How well would the Reeboks work during airborne operations?
My BiL was a Ranger and he rocked the Boks, he said they were alright, nothing too special but not the worst ones either

These are military sneakers 🎉 Boots are something else.
What about the Delta tactical boots?
I have a question regarding the Altama Foxhounds. How is the sizing on the boot? Also does the Foxhound have a large toe box for my toes to wiggle around? Thank you!
Fox Hounds run a bit small
How the heck do you get suede clean when it’s full of mud?
Hose them off then take some suede Cleaner to them
Garamonts nfs t8s or the rockys. Garamonts better for the all day imo but eitter those two last and good support

Where can i find the german paratrooper boots?
You forgot, AKU, Alt-Berg, Haix!
They’re too expensive in the US.
Alt-berg sneakers/desert boots 👍
I got haix believe me they are not that good
Do u recomend 511 boots
decent, not full shank, the atlas series have a plastic footbed, good for with moderate loads, can't vouch for them
The Rocky S2V’s are great but I’ll never buy them again because rocky doesn’t offer a resole anymore.
