I did not know this music until I saw the movie the Glenn Miller story. I am a baby boomer and I am a Vietnam combat vet The bands of this era were just fantastic and only in America Could you find this type of music and a man like Glenn Miller Rest in peace it is great that these men and women keep this music alive some of the greatest music ever composed. Thank you for posting.
I’m 84, and I lost my wife to brain cancer just weeks after our 51st Wedding Anniversary in 2014. We met for her Graduation Nursing Ball , and she loved dancing to this stuff. An amusing side story. We had 6 children, but our baby (I’m now pushing 50 Dad): I’ve got to get that Degree in Theatre and Stage Production and Direction. My daily ride is a 1995 Mazda MX5 Roadster, and I told her that if she did well, I’d give it to her - this is her Graduation Semester in this November, and the WORST mark she has ever had is a Credit, which she dismisses as barely a Pass. Many students only ever do a Pass! She keeps bringing home Distinctions and High Distinctions!!! Well, I’m a man of my word, and she is so busy (two jobs to keep the Queensland bills paid) that I have to make an appointment with her to discuss borrowing my car back. The point of this little story is that she is the only musical person among the kids ( who all have their own kids and grandkids to keep them busy. One is a Grandfather of 4. During my wife’s last pregnancy, I was asked to turn this music volume down please. It was utterly fascinating to see the baby’s feet tapping and swinging to my music! Apparently it was tiring Mum. The youngest became a very accomplished Dancer with her own very successful Dancing Studio, until the morons (Senator Antic has published the Health (?) covid Mandates which governments have tried their best (???) to keep them secret. Of course, when Dad, and often Mum too, had hours cut, many losing their jobs, the kids’ Ballet Lessons suddenly took on the odour of not necessary. In the end she couldn’t change enough fees to keep the Hall lights on. So, back to school, AKA University. Her Course Moderator told her about 3 weeks ago that the Course (which Graduates this November) asks Students to achieve at least 50 out of the possible 100 points to Graduate - clever daughter has already amassed her possible 100 points, and more Submissions to go, and no more points. Hopefully a glowing Reference. Probably a bit of a Doting Daddy, but what the heck, she deserves it. Last Christmas, the Clowns Troupe of which I’m a Member (we visit the oldies in Nursing Homes, and some visit Hospitals) had our Christmas Party on a cruise boat around the canals, dancing to Swing and Rock (the real stuff, Elvis, Bill Haley, and the Stones for the youngsters), and we danced, albeit a bit cramped, but we grew up dancing cheek to cheek!😂🤡🇲🇸
