      This is a recall from PSA (when it was still PSA) because the batch of belts fitted to this particular engine are known to snap. There is an improved belt material which is fitted instead to resolve the issue! That is why many other puretech engines have no issues at all because they arent part of recall!

      I have a 71 plate Crossland that has a really bad belt full of cracks it has been serviced as it should be it’s back in at dealer Friday and hopefully they will change belt under warranty , these engines are the worst design ever ridiculous the work that is needed to change these belts ,

      Sometimes the bits of timing belt also damage the vvt, oil pump and block the pick up tube

    How long would you say it takes to just replace the rocker cover gasket and if I'm going through all that trouble for an oil leak shall I go the full way and have the cambelt changed at the same time if it doesn't look to bad....

    • @maxautouk
      @maxautouk  Год назад +1

      Without videoing it I’d probably take an hour just to do the gasket… wouldn’t be a bad idea to change the Cambelt they are horrifically unreliable on these engines

    Thank you for the great video!! I have C3, 2016, 1.0 68hp bought with 7k km, now at 27k km. So far I have had no issues at all with the car. I am thinking of changing the belt just because it is old.
    Two questions: Can I figure out, if it was already done because of recall? It was a leased car, so at least the first 3 or 4 years it was at Citroen...
    2. In the comments you are saying it is a bad motor, would you advise to just get rid of it as fast as possible or would you say if I change the timing belt then the cause of error is banned and good to go again for another few years?
    Thank you for replying!❤

    • @maxautouk
      @maxautouk  5 месяцев назад

      The Puretech engines are capable of doing high mileage and being reliable, the trouble is that when they do go wrong the repair bill is extreme!
      To do what you see in this video with good quality parts from main dealer and the labour at most garages could set you back 1000 pound depending on the area

    The later Cambelt pulleys have a raised edge on the outer part of the pulley. So you don't have the clearance for the belt to fit through. I had to remove the inlet pulley as to get the old belt off and new one on.

    I'm about to buy a used Peugeot 208 e-thp 1.2 , 110 hp. 2019, 95000 km. But im really sceptical after all those negative comments that ive recently read about this engine. My mechanic is going to check everything, plus check the full history service book. Should i avoid it, even if everything look good?

    • @maxautouk

    Awesome video, really really appreciate it, could I possibly run something by you? I have a Vauxhall Crossland same engine and its throwing up the low oil pressure fault, and the car is going into limp mode! So what ive done so far is remove the sump to see for blockages in the pickup and to be fair it wasnt terrible, there were some micro fibers which ive removed, i also changed the filter and oil but the fault is still there? The belt does have micro cracks all over it and i will replace it using your videos as a guide, but i fear just changing the belt will not rectify the fault? Is there something else I'm missing? When i plug it in its coming up with oil pressure solenoid valve circuit low? Any help from you would so appreciate.........
