this solution is not problem as long as you do your service at time and every oil change guys clear the filter... i am using croslland almost 200.000km, 3x chanfe time belt and no problem..
This is a recall from PSA (when it was still PSA) because the batch of belts fitted to this particular engine are known to snap. There is an improved belt material which is fitted instead to resolve the issue! That is why many other puretech engines have no issues at all because they arent part of recall!
I have a 71 plate Crossland that has a really bad belt full of cracks it has been serviced as it should be it’s back in at dealer Friday and hopefully they will change belt under warranty , these engines are the worst design ever ridiculous the work that is needed to change these belts ,
How long would you say it takes to just replace the rocker cover gasket and if I'm going through all that trouble for an oil leak shall I go the full way and have the cambelt changed at the same time if it doesn't look to bad....
Without videoing it I’d probably take an hour just to do the gasket… wouldn’t be a bad idea to change the Cambelt they are horrifically unreliable on these engines
Thank you for the great video!! I have C3, 2016, 1.0 68hp bought with 7k km, now at 27k km. So far I have had no issues at all with the car. I am thinking of changing the belt just because it is old. Two questions: Can I figure out, if it was already done because of recall? It was a leased car, so at least the first 3 or 4 years it was at Citroen... 2. In the comments you are saying it is a bad motor, would you advise to just get rid of it as fast as possible or would you say if I change the timing belt then the cause of error is banned and good to go again for another few years? Thank you for replying!❤
The Puretech engines are capable of doing high mileage and being reliable, the trouble is that when they do go wrong the repair bill is extreme! To do what you see in this video with good quality parts from main dealer and the labour at most garages could set you back 1000 pound depending on the area
The later Cambelt pulleys have a raised edge on the outer part of the pulley. So you don't have the clearance for the belt to fit through. I had to remove the inlet pulley as to get the old belt off and new one on.
It is possible to do the job without the use of timing tools but I do not recommend trying this approach because a mistake could cost you an engine - I suggest you buy the tool… it is cheaper than a new engine 🫣
I'm about to buy a used Peugeot 208 e-thp 1.2 , 110 hp. 2019, 95000 km. But im really sceptical after all those negative comments that ive recently read about this engine. My mechanic is going to check everything, plus check the full history service book. Should i avoid it, even if everything look good?
Yea definitely avoid them they are genuinely terrible engines. The one in the video had full dealer service history and three cambelts in four years!!!!
I have a late 2023 Puretech, should I be Worried🤔🤷 It's still on Warranty it has an extended Warranty Even if something was to fail prematurely it's for the Dealer to resolve it as they had enough time to resolve this 🤷🤦
Awesome video, really really appreciate it, could I possibly run something by you? I have a Vauxhall Crossland same engine and its throwing up the low oil pressure fault, and the car is going into limp mode! So what ive done so far is remove the sump to see for blockages in the pickup and to be fair it wasnt terrible, there were some micro fibers which ive removed, i also changed the filter and oil but the fault is still there? The belt does have micro cracks all over it and i will replace it using your videos as a guide, but i fear just changing the belt will not rectify the fault? Is there something else I'm missing? When i plug it in its coming up with oil pressure solenoid valve circuit low? Any help from you would so appreciate.........
Thank you so much for the reply! Really appreciate it. The pick up is slightly different on mine, My one doesn't have the black pipe/funnel thing! My one looks like this ruclips.net/user/shorts3FU03Dxo7YM?si=kmrB6MOwcr1kxKVb

Great video, thanks for taking the time to clearly explain the job along with all the tips👍
Glad it was helpful!
The level of laziness using an air ratchet to take the battery terminal off. I adore you
If a power tool fits. It gets used. 😂

En you have been doing this job for many years your hands kill anything to make it easy
Very good video. All video's should be made like this. Good job👍🏼 and thank you!
That’s very kind thank you!
Im just knew that peugeot engine timing belt should be wet and not dry after watched this video. thanks sir

@adriancarter825 youd think they would fix it somehow or manufacture a better quality part
Will also need to clean the wire screen, at the end of the engine oil pick up tube, in order to complete this job?.
Only if the belt has started to break up 👍🏽
Great video How many kilometers should the timing belt be changed?
If its the original belt then immediately they are known to cause issues
Did they fix it tho? Can I buy it from official dealer?
Yes you can buy it from main dealer
Sometimes the bits of timing belt also damage the vvt, oil pump and block the pick up tube

Im afraid without hearing it for myself in person i have no idea what to suggest sorry!

Hi great video can you please tell me where the PCV VALVE is thanks
I must admit I’m not a hundred percent where it is located sorry - this is a customer at and I don’t have access to it soo can’t check
Can you tell me how many Newton meters the screws on the pulley (crankshaft) are tightened with? Thanks in advance :)
Hello! All the torque settings are in part 2 of this video hope this helps 😄
@@maxautouk Ok, thanks :)
How many hours is that job. It looks more work than the ford ecoboost
Im not sure because of filming but id say between 5-8 hours
Hi there how much is the labour for this job ?
I could say it depends very much on where you live but in my area easily £400 on labour, maybe more

The 1.6 HDi is ok

Bu araç kaç model, kayış kaç km’de değişti?
This the 1.2L petrol puretech engine and this timing belt had only done 15,000km

GREAT VIDEO /IT WOULD BE EASIER IF YOU TOOK THE FIRE PANNEL OUT/ TWO WIPERS SOME PLASTICS AND FEW SCRUES
I think underneath the cowling is just a scuttle tray that is welded to the body so you wouldn’t actually gain any more space
thanks
No worries!
