- Chris and his buddy Mike discovered a new hotspot on one of his Civil War campsite fields. They were finding relics and coins everywhere! Chris invited Jeff, Missouri Mike, and I back out and we figured there had to be more! Boy were we right! Everyone made great finds and Jeff and I both found a bucket lister.
Thanks for watching and enjoy!

11:54 XYZ examine your zipper. Your fly is down on the right. 😂

Thanks Mark! Glad you enjoyed. This was one of the most thrilling hunts I've been able to be a part of since I started detecting. HH man!
Wow what a great place of history you guys are in awesome
Thanks Robert!
Very nice hunt Zach! And big congrats on your beautiful 1856 Seated Half Dime!! Awesome job on all the bullets and camp lead. Great hunt for everyone! Take care and HH!
You guys might want to occasionally call the round ball what they really are, so younger guys can know the difference in those and mini balls. Round ones are musket balls, fired from smooth bore long arms called muskets, while the conical shaped bullets are mini balls fired from rifled bore long arms, known as rifles. The South carried far more muskets than the North did, so I’m guessing that might be a Confederate camped field what with so many round balls found.
This campsite was right near one of the largest union camps in Missouri so I’m thinking it was a satellite union camp. It is interesting how many round balls were there though
Amazing hunting for sure ,thanks for sharing to us all
Thanks for stopping by! HH, Zach
Great hunt Zach you guys were killing it. I saw Mike and Jeffs videos too. Congratulations on your firsts. Thanks for sharing. Until next time HH&GL *Chris*

Great video Zach!
Thanks Bob!
Congrats on the seated half dime, awesome find. x
Thanks Sue!
I newto detecting and find that camp lead all the time never knew what it was until now this is awesome
Cool! Do you live in an area with Civil War history?
Not sure how I missed this one but great finds Zach! Congrats on the half dime. Happy digging, Dave.
Thanks Dave! This was one of my favorite hunts of all time. There’s nothing like being the first to touch a relic or coin lost by a soldier in the Civil War. In a few days I am actually going back out to this area of Central MO to hunt fields like this and some pre Civil War farmhouses
Great video and music choice
Thanks Allen, glad you enjoyed
WOW! Such impressive finds - you sure know where to hit the sweet spots! COuld help if you could wait for the focus a little longer, but glad to see the finds cleaned up a bit afterwards as they are VERY worth SEEING! Good job! 👍
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
@ 3:58 haa haaa !
Great silver 1st, many more to you.
Haha, didn't mean for it to come out that way! Thanks for watching
Great video congratulations on the half dime!
Thank you!!
Nice hunt.. Plug master and mike. Looks like they had a great hunt as well👍
Thanks Jeff! This hunt was definitely one of the highlights of last year
My house was built in 1856 I still have the owners hitching post in my front yard as well as a well pump so if anyone wants to ride their horse you can tie him off. My property is pretty spectacular as far as history I wouldn’t mind getting a detector and trying my hand. I’m not over confident that anything is here other than trash I can imagine somebody may have detected in the past that’s my biggest hang up investing in a machine everyone is doing it now, and back in the 70’s 80’s there were a lot of hounds too how you keep finding anything is amazing though.
That was a stellar hunt. Congratulations on the holed silver. Wondering if researching the site a person could find out the owner of the nipple protector by the initials. That is such a cool personalized item. Looking forward to your next adventure. Thanks for sharing, take care and be safe.
Thanks man! Yeah, I wish I could know who that was that carved it and more of what went on at the camp. There were thousands of soldiers in the area, and this camp seemed to be a less documented one that was near the main one
I did a quick check on why old coins have holes in them. Apparently people used to wear them as jewelry on either a necklace or bracelet. So the one in this video was likely worn by soldier and lost on the battle field.
Unfortunately you have a way more battle sites to check for metal things. What do you do with the round balls? You get excited when you say awesome and you find lead items from a war. Are they from a musket firing? Sorry I’m from Canada not used to finding round balls that my metal detecting friends find.
JH? thats mine lol.
Hahaha, you must be pretty old by now!
Have you tried the Minelab Equinox 800 to compare with the E Track just curious if so please let us know your thoughts thanks appreciate the video
Nice finds ! I’m up in Weatherford, y’all should come up sometime and make a vid in my hometown. Lots of culture and history around the square area.
Thanks! Kyle and I almost hit Weatherford back in May when I was out there. Lots of awesome old victorians there. We ended up mostly hitting Cleburne and Sherman on that trip
Love your anticipation and excitement. Good clean fun (work). One thing...Could we have at least one less "AWSOME!"? Please? There are more words than that to describe those finds. And the word "awsome" holds much more weight if not uttered every fourth sentence.
Man nice stuff guys the South is where it's at I want detect farm fields around here but the folks round here are hesitant to let someone detect...imagine what could be found.
Thanks man! Hopefully you can get onto some of those old farm fields by you. They are a blast to hunt
@OUTTA TIME BwahahHaaa!!!!
Where are you guys..I think there is sight near Carthage Mo
But I haven't tried it yet?
What are roundball and what was it used for?
What is it you’re spraying the coins down with? Is it safe for the coins? Thanks.
We're just spraying them with water
Great video it Rocks,We are hitting a place like this next wknd hope to find stuff like this.We are from Bama where are yall at.
Nice! I am in the Kansas City area
That’s cool , I’m going to upload a new video tomorrow.I found a nice silver ring in a river
On thx...I didn't hear a comment about it was all.....I did some checking and was told that they would see them into their uniform so they could just pull them out when needed also not lose them.. thx
I wonder if a spray bottle of olive oil would be better to clean finds you don't want scratched?
ironic. my dad found a 1856 seated at a old southern alabama civil war salt works. there is supposedly a legend of buried gold there where they hid it when they heard that the north was coming close.
That sounds like an awesome site. I can't even imagine how epic it would be to find a civil war gold cache.
Down South Detecting well, he quit before we got the chance. that place was spooky though. my dad accidentally found a massive native American burial mound with a backhoe, and a skull and finger bones rolled out. not to mention the creepy stuff that happened in the camp house after That happened.
Down South Detecting it's called the Alabama upper salt works in case you were wondering.
Cool! Ill have to look it up
👍🏽😎😀...☀️🔥
👍👊😀
Why call them round balls, we just call them musket balls as that is what they shot them from
Awesome finds! How in the hell do people find these civil war sites? I would love to get into relic hunting but wouldn’t know where to start.
That's the issue, is finding where to go. A lot of the times you will need to get permission from farmers or at the very least the land owner. so not only do you have to look at old maps, articles, etc to find where to go, you then have to find out who even owns the land. Not everyone will be okay with you metal detecting there too. I'd love to metal detect, but it seems like a whole lot of hassle just to get to a good area.
Where is this place
Why isn't a "half dime" called a nickel?
Where is this what County!!
Guys I think we have another round ball...
Where was this? My great great great uncle was James Headley(JH) fought for union West Virginia 14th regiment. I have his honorably discharged medal ribbon attatched.
Correction 11th regiment
Thats awesome. This was near a large campsite in central Missouri
Also, I’d be creeped out because just think of how many people lay there dying, bleeding out during the war
Thanks for watching! This was a campsite, so there were likely no people that died here
What battle was fought on this site?
dennis jamieson I don’t mean to be rude but did you read the title?
3:04- 3:33. Just dig it already!!!!
I agree,too much noise,dig it...
OK, why is there so much melted lead around CW sites?
Because the soldiers used lead to cast bullets and other things. Whatever scrap lead they had they just tossed
Do you ever plot the location of the bullet finds on a map of the field?
I don’t but Chris Heimsoth does, he’s the one that got us onto this permission.
Over time plotting them, it may be easier to figure out where everything/body was and what happened there. I've seen maps others have made that allowed them to figure out the battle lines based on drops and fired rounds.
What is a nipple protector?
I have a 1863 three cent nickel myself.
Awesome! Would love to find one of those
Why were there coins with holes in them for back in the day?
Jim Schrom they holed coins to put on a necklace so they wouldn’t lose them. Coins were a lot more valuable back then than they are now
since it is a camp ground/battle field, can't imagine why you would find anything but war related item! after all there would have been 00000 general stores out there so 000 uses for silver coins or pennies!
Ya never know what soldiers might've carried or lost! Optimism over pessimism! It's all diggin' History!
What is cap but? I found capped bust dimes online...is that it?
Sound like music
I know in Gettysburg it's illegal to go metal detecting
that's because it's a national park
Is that a gpz 5000?
Do you guys ever get a lot of tics on you doing this?
Yup, and chiggers too, but if you put on bug spray it makes a world of difference
That poor dog
Was it a Carson city
It ended up having no mint mark
You need a chest cam so your videos don't shake so bad.
We can hear your tone, stop wanding over it 100 times
Hooow fucking long do you have to let it beep?
What is a nipple protector?
From what I understand it was a piece that soldiers put in the barrel of their gun to plug it so that unwanted objects couldn't get in it while it is not in use.
The nipple is where the percussion cap goes on a muzzle loading rife. The homemade protector would keep junk out when not being used.
