yeah it wouldn't even be that difficult to nail the tone. James in the 80's was all about a distant echo effect covering the flaws in his singing. It was all great don't get me wrong, but from Load to present time, they completely ditched the heavy echo vocals.
Their new mixes are atrocious, especially vocally... Bob Rock at least mixed them properly (with the exception of St Anger). Wish they just stayed with Flemming Rasmussen.
I like to think that Metallica was tracking Guitar Razze's every move and how he was able to learn the song and re-record them with different tones, so they released new songs every 2 hours just to fuck with him like "LET'S SEE IF YOU CAN KEEP UP WITH US NOW"
Production-wise you can't beat Black Album. Everything sounds great there, you may not like the songs but they sound great. Justice's tone is raw but the lack of bass just kills it for me.
Un4GivNX i like the high quality production sound of the new album it is perfect tuned i wish death magnetic had that sound because there the drums are too loud and plastic kinda
It would be awful if they went back to their old sound. I like that Metallica never do the same thing twice because it would be boring hearing the same thing over and over again.
"Well well well, a nigga named Negan. You look more like a Stephanie." "Them some ugly ass boots you got on there. As the white boys say on the internet, 'what are those?'"
Anthony Conejo Méndez you cant do that to a song unless you have a master tracks. Which this album does not have. This is him recording his own guitar track and using samples to make a drum track
That's life man. Just because you make something like a video game doesn't mean a bunch of 12 year olds aren't going to kick your ass in that game within a days time.
@@Linkmitch MoP also has no mids so I don't get why people bring it up like its a justice thing. James' tone was Low/Bass=5, Mids=0-1 and High/Treble was around 7 on Puppets.
Chris Rodriguez well there was bass on the demo as well, it's the mixing where they tuned out bass, but you can hear bass on some parts of One and shortest straw and frayed ends of sanity.
"...And Justice For All" is a very good album except for the fact that there's no bass. Such a pity. Such a pity they lost Cliff. He was the creative mind of the band.
Benjamin Breeg AJFA is an epic masterpiece, it's so good, I do NOT mind the lack of bass, especially when the guitars are so low and the bass is based on the rythm guitar.
I was thinking the same exact thing! I love the old tunes but done heard em over a million times. This is like hearing them all new again and having mind blown like back in the day!
Callum Chappe De Leonval It would fit better on Kill'em All. The entire album track list would. This isn't as thrashy, it is more Heavy metal. Could pass as a Megadeth song.

The production on AJFA is legendary, even though it's 'flawed' I think it's perfect. It's like a demo.. that guitar and drum tone is super unique and distinct, and it's just the epitome of Metallica at their most Metallica-ish. I love you for doing this
AJFA has a terrible production. It's not just flawed, it's awful. The distortion is great, but the drums are bad and the bass doesn't even exist. It's even worse than the typical, sterile and sibilant 90s metal production (which in most cases sucked). Man, I got the exact same vibe, but add Whiplash to the mix as well. I've been finding nearly every song on the album has a combination of previous songs. I'd say this is the closest everyone demanding for "Old Metallica" will get, and honestly, they've exceeded that expectation in my opinion. For 50+ year olds, they're still kicking some serious ass.
This song would work way better on Ride the Lightning tones. It's pretty incredible though. You even do that "cutting the riffs short" as they did in AFJA. Typically these songs would do way better by holding the riff a little while and letting it run. But this just proves just how important tones are to a song... it can literally transform great songs to masterpiece levels.
Gawd... the bass solo.... :D We're all glad this thing wasn't on Justice. However... the opening of the song screams Kill 'Em All to me. I think I'll have to try that. :D Besides that, seems like someone besides me has also been busy. I've been mapping out the drums from the album and preparing to give my backing track site an update.
Keep up the good work! You have no idea how much this means to everyone. All of these songs are turning out perfectly. If only they would release vocal tracks...

Spit Out the Bone (on steroids)...freakin' awesome man!
WOW!!!!!!! WHO IS THE MASTER MIND BEHIND THIS TRULY AMAZING RE-MIX!!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!
in my opinion it sounds like dyers eve. idk but to me it does
InsaneCoasterJunkie The start of the solo is Dyers Eve as well :)
InsaneCoasterJunkie for me the song as a whole is a mix of dyers eve and damage inc, so it works well as an album closer lol
The harmonized solo is so God damn heavy
This song would work way better on Ride the Lightning tones. It's pretty incredible though.
You even do that "cutting the riffs short" as they did in AFJA. Typically these songs would do way better by holding the riff a little while and letting it run.
But this just proves just how important tones are to a song... it can literally transform great songs to masterpiece levels.
That Intro is the most brutal and punishing thing I’ve ever heard
Gawd... the bass solo.... :D We're all glad this thing wasn't on Justice. However... the opening of the song screams Kill 'Em All to me. I think I'll have to try that. :D
Besides that, seems like someone besides me has also been busy. I've been mapping out the drums from the album and preparing to give my backing track site an update.
jerryteacup its actually Slayer's rift at the beginning.
*riff
but if put in eb tuning
Oh? Okay? Which song?
jerryteacup Angel of Death
Keep up the good work! You have no idea how much this means to everyone. All of these songs are turning out perfectly. If only they would release vocal tracks...
lol hiding the bass guitar
Mrcloc this mix wasn't supposed to have bass lines
