      yeah it wouldn't even be that difficult to nail the tone. James in the 80's was all about a distant echo effect covering the flaws in his singing. It was all great don't get me wrong, but from Load to present time, they completely ditched the heavy echo vocals.

  • @underscoreisnotvalid

    Thank you so much for doing this dude. I absolutely adore this. If you did Metallica's entire discography with the AJFA production, my life would be complete. Imagine hearing Master of Puppets, Battery, Ride The Lightning and Seek and Destroy, Nothing Else Matters, and basically anything off St Anger converted into AJFA style. It's effing rad, this whole concept. It's fun to imagine like a mixtape of the ultimate Metallica album, with AFJA production with all of their other best songs added in. The production on AJFA is legendary, even though it's 'flawed' I think it's perfect. It's like a demo.. that guitar and drum tone is super unique and distinct, and it's just the epitome of Metallica at their most Metallica-ish. I love you for doing this

    • @Neonmirrorblack
      @Neonmirrorblack 7 лет назад +7

      AJFA has a terrible production. It's not just flawed, it's awful. The distortion is great, but the drums are bad and the bass doesn't even exist. It's even worse than the typical, sterile and sibilant 90s metal production (which in most cases sucked). Master of Puppets is a textbook example of a stellar 80s production that still holds up today. It's the album that has their "wall of sound" and every instrument comes through clearly.
      Regardless, it was cool hearing this song played in the vein of that album.

      +TimStatic Haha no dude, I play bass, and the electric bass is actually one of my favourite musical instruments believe it or not, but magically its absence in AJFA worked really well. I don't give a shit what instruments are or aren't present in any mix, as long as it sounds good to my ears.. And I just happen to really like AJFA
      And +Neonmirrorblack I like it, you don't like it.. It's art, it's subjective, who gives a fuck

    This song would work way better on Ride the Lightning tones. It's pretty incredible though.
    You even do that "cutting the riffs short" as they did in AFJA. Typically these songs would do way better by holding the riff a little while and letting it run.
    But this just proves just how important tones are to a song... it can literally transform great songs to masterpiece levels.
