I don’t mind this figure, it’s as close to a G1 Nightbeat as we’re probably ever gonna get. I wish they’d have at least made the chest more like the animation model, but otherwise it’s not too bad. At least we don’t get the over complexity of an Xtransbots figure with this company. Fans Hobby is a pretty decent company, not all of their figures are for me but most are.

Good review. Maybe because there was so much paint used on this retool they used a different plastic type that they didnt use with Minerva because of her all white color scheme? 🤷🏻♂️ Maybe you did influence them from your Minerva review. That review stands out to me because you said it was the worst figure you had seen…which is a pretty deep cut. I think the Minerva was rushed a little at final production. They are supposedly doing all the Headmaster Juniors…I know Cab is there next new mold…hopefully they get through them all. Glad to hear you like it..was actually surprised. 👍

I didn't believe Nightbeat was going to be that different from Minerva. I also wanted to defend Minerva at one point, but your review of her was exactly right: she feels cheap, especially compared to their Kap.
I guess I have to give this figure a fair shot now.
Fanshobby makes good figures but they always lack paint. Hopefully this figure will change that trend.

Their Wheelbalde (Windblade) version actually is better than the Athena mold, but still has some QC issues, but it has better plastic and quality to it.
Oof, it looks like you made hard work of that - If you go back to last year's Athena video it seems like you can rotate the thighs to provide clearance when transforming the legs.
Night Beat is a little better built than Minerva. The leg transformation is annoying. These are not quite right for a toon look, but they are close enough for me.
Despite the issues I do like these. I love the headmaster gimmic.

It's possible that it feels and looks better than Minerva because they haven't had to make a completely new mold. The transformation and basic parts were already available, so they would have been able to put more effort into the overall appearance of the figure, rather than designing it from scratch.
I'm not trying to say that Bobby is wrong on any of his points, but despite how good it might look, it just doesn't look like Nightbeat to me. I am not sure of all the iterations of the character, I can just recall him in the Matrix Quest from the comics, and the original G1 toy I had. Oh, and the IDW stuff. This doesn't evoke any of that. To me, this is more ninja, than P.I., more anime than film noir. I want a Nightbeat that looks like he could throw a trenchcoat on in the rain (though I'd rather he didn't actually do it...).
My attitude with MP is 'time to settle'. I can't imagine there being a better Nightbeat on the horizon. Of course, my attitude is what stuck me with an X-Trans Savant just before the MP Skids announcement!!!
I have two main problems with this release. The biggest being, beyond colours and alt. mode, I'd have to squint really hard to see how this is a Nightbeat figure. Their Minerva was clearly designed to be Go-Shooter from the get-go and this is just a repaint of that. The second being that I don't think they've nailed the aesthetic of any of their Masterforce inspired figures.

Man I am so surprised to hear you say he fits right in alongside that Lambor mold -- is he not chuggish ruggish to the bone??? He doesn't suit next to those Make Headmasters neither. Honestly surprised! But I mean, not that it matters hargh.
I've removed all my FH figures from display, 2/3 of the monster bots and my v1 pmop can no longer stand properly as the joints are just garbage. The headmaster juniors are not characters I want thankfully so this is an easy pass.
Glad they fixed Minerva issues.
However this does not feel like Nightbeat.
The mold is way to feminine for the character.
I will hold out for a better mp rep for the character.
I hate how much I don't like this Nightbeat. I love the Nightbeat character, this spray painted Minerva looks too womanly and thin to be a proper Nightbeat. Give me an IDW inspired bot with more manly proportions and I am all in.
