I with you. I have so much respect for Stallone. He IS modest and a genuine guy. Great in interviews. Allows the interviewer to ask any question. No matter how personal. Rolls with the punches. VERY rare in Hollywood where most are so full of themselves and guarded. And closed. Has respect for all athletes. Great people I've found are the most humble. They don't need attitude or vibrato to feel like men (or women). Truly wealthy people don't need to walk around in Armani suits and drive Ferrari's. Warren Buffet.
Great interview. And Sly was as usual great being interviewed. And while part of it was lucky it wasn't an accident Sly is where he is in the film business. So many others have gotten opportunities in film. Maybe to be in one good film. Then we never hear from them again. Or they're relegated to straight to DVD films. To to mega stardom. For decades. Sly has an amazing ability to "understand".how things work and what it takes. That maybe you do have to put your life at risk even for filming. As dumb as it sounds to do it. When stuntmen could have been used. Sly vs Dolph Lundgren. To go 1 minute all out. Sly is a middleweight. Dolph would be a heavy and one that was jonce an Euro kickboxing champion. Still a champion. TO think Lundgren wasn't trying to hurt Sly. He just made contact. If there was intent to damage behind the punches.. If Sly used a stuntman and camera tricks the "realism" wouldn't be there. As he explained. THe framing of the shot would need to be tighter. So all you see is arms swinging and maybe the contact. Still would have worked. But wouldn't have got the same effect. Nor could th they make Dolph Lundgren look even taller than he is at 6'4...I thought he was 7'1 after watching Rocky 4. Dolph was/is still a big man but there are so many other man bigger than him...NBA players, Strongmen who weight 350 to 400 pounds and 6'8... They are true "giants". And more important...I Sly clearly knows how to play THE GAME. The unspoken dark side behind the scenes...when celebs and pro athletes have to answer that knock on the door and talk to "bad people". Inevitable. Anywhere there's money to be made THEY will be there. If a celeb doesn't "play the game"....
No comedian or stand up guy has made me laughed this much
You're just a different kind of Legend, Sly
If you don't love this guy, you are not human
Agreed, I have always admired his humility
Met him as a kid at the forum in California and ILl never forget him telling my dad, "hey. Nice boots."
This guy is so modest, Never forgets to give credits to everyone who deserves it.
Sly Rocks :)
