I've always thought Regina is a nice city. I'm from N.D. originally, just across the border, but haved lived in San Diego, CA now for the past 25 years. I think the Fargo metro area has now surpassed Regina in population, but I think Regina seems much more like a real city. The downtown is more developed than Fargo and of course the Legislative building with Wascana Park are spectacular. Canadians are truly nice people too.
Fargo has 230,000 ish...reginas core alone is 275 and metro is about 300...but moosejaw would be included from a commuting standpoint and usong american metro standards bumping us up to 330-340. The regina REGION is probably 360. Censuses in Regina arent done the way most other cities are in Canada and the states, idk why, sp realistically 325-350 id say, but officially anout 300.
Great video! You’ve covered all the cities I’ve lived in Saskatchewan now. Interesting facts about Regina is that every tree you see, someone planted it there! Also, the lake in Wascana Park was dug out by hand during the Great Depression as a make work project, about 20 years ago it was deepened by machines. Some of the soil was used to build an island.
So lovely the fact that u always speak good words about ur dad and always you can u try to involve him in ur videos. That shows u are a great daughter and u give a great example.
Regina is a wonderful and underrated city in Canada. An interesting fact is that the Queen Elizabeth statue in front of the Legislature has her name and title displayed in French on the other side of it. I haven’t visited but I’ve loved seeing the city in JJ McCullough’s, Sprouht’s and now your video of the city. Wonderful as always.
Plus that is a statue of her famous black horse from the RCMP depot/training centre in Regina. The is deceased and is stuff and on display at the fancy RCMP museum.
Her father's personality as you described it is a common trait of Canadian Elder Male Culture. One of the main reasons the country developed so well and continues to function so good.
Regina is a large, well kept and beautiful city. I didn't expect it to look as cosmopolitan as it is. Your Dad seems to like the smaller town vibe, and I can't blame him. Keep up the good work, and Happy, safe travels!
I'm from Edmonton but went to the U of R for a specific program in the early 90's and I have to say it was the best time of my my life. There are no people as friendly as Sask people and I made lots of friends right away, many of whom I still have 30 + years later. I get very nostalgic when I think of those good times, it would be nice to go to the Lazy Owl for a beer and a Deadly Chedly burger.
I always thought Saskatchewan had nice cities, even if they’re comparatively small to most others in Canada! I’ve lived in Saskatchewan all of my life and the beauty here is very underrated. The Royal museum is one that I’ve been to multiple times and it is great! Really recommend! For those interested, here are some places in Saskatchewan that you should definitely visit one day- 1. The Great Saskatchewan Sand Dunes. (A desert in?? In Canada??? It’s just gorgeous as it sounds. It’s not actually classified as a desert though!) 2. The Badlands. Haven’t been to them yet, but I hear it’s beautiful! It’s on my bucket list! 3. Saskatoon Exhibition (Only available during summer months.) This place is amazing for the food, the exhibits, the tradeshow, and the entertainment that they bring every year! 4. Western Development Museum It covers the time of early Saskatchewan and features a full-size replica town! Absolutely amazing, and you can get in for free if you have a student card!
I lived in Regina from 1971 to 1979. I remember the museum and legislature building very well. Also spent many summers at Wascana lake. Certainly brings back a lot of good memories as I have not been there for many years.
Hey Alina McLeod spectacular el tour en Regina nice, company, museum ,teatro , caminata , temperatura, bonita ciudad y vos te miras bonita! con tu bebida
I have been through Regina many times, but was usually on my way to Manitoba from Calgary. Now I wish that I had of taken the time to see it. It looks beautiful. Now I will be putting it on my list.
@@AlinaMcleod --- It might be worth mentioning that former Saskatchewan Premier from 1944 - 1961 (the elected leader of the province) Tommy Douglas, who also led the moderate-Left Co-operative Commonwealth Federation Party federally from 1961 - 1971, which morphed into todays NDP Party, was voted in a widely known and popular CBC-TV National Poll some years ago as "The Greatest Canadian Ever" due to his stalwart promotion of many of the social programs that have made Canada famous world-wide, such as universal health care. I support aspects of the moderate right, left and center, and it is true that people of all political beliefs hold him in very high status. Both Saskatchewan and Manitoba Provinces are very strong in developing some of the things that make Canada famous for what it is, such as Universal Medical Care for everyone and Social Programs such as Pensions and helping people who are temporarily facing financial hardship.
Great info as always..loved the history and seeing the statue of our beloved Queen mum (as we fondly refer to her) Bang on vid 👏 love seeing you with your dad big love to you both from London ❤
Alina, nice calming views, your father is such a cool guy. You are gorgeous as usual, God also really blessed you with that. Background music was just right for this one.
Welcome to Regina! 🖐 We have lived here for the last 21 years. We are both from Saskatchewan. We are very familiar with many areas of the province as my husband's career as a Conservation Officer with the Sask Dept of Environment has taken us to many different areas of this great province, each beautiful in their own way. You missed seeing Mosaic Stadium, home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police/RCMP depot/training center and museum, as Regina is the home of the RCMP, our national police force. Perhaps you need to make another visit and stay a little longer. 😊 So happy you have been able to visit with your parents on this trip back home to Canada and to have your dad with you on this road trip. I love following your posts as you travel the world. Happy travelling! 🚙🧳✈
Just awesome, I'm a chick forest technician from Montreal! I left my career at my husband's request in '88, I majored in Sylviculture and they don't want to plant it back properly so... All places left natural are beautiful, that's just how it is!
Beautiful video with your Dad! Having worked on a farm near Montmartre many years ago,it brings back many great memories as working with a local family was one of the best experiences of my life! Have a soft spot with Regina! Beautiful city!👍😘
Hi Alina and Gordon! Thanks for the lovely tour of Regina - the first capital of Canada's Northwest Territories (until 1905)! Although I lived in Saskatchewan (Saskatoon) for 3 years, I made only one visit to Regina - to a Roughriders game. The Rolling Stones played a great and memorable show in Regina in 2006, but this was after my time. Regina is a beautiful provincial capital!!!
Yes, they did! It was a huge success. It was held in Tayler field, in October. The weather was good. People came from the western provinces, bordering states. They put on 3 or 4 shows, before they pulled out. Mick Jagger really liked the place.
Good ole Sir Paul McCartney also played Taylor Field; got my parents tickets as they are huge Beatles fans. Did you know that Paul does not read sheet music?
The Stones played two shows. One show on Oct. 6th and 8th - 2006. The weather was great for the first show that I attended and they were fantastic. Jagger seemed to like Regina, and said it "rhymes with fun".
We visited Regina about 30 years ago and all I recall is seeing the RCMP academy, which was quite interesting. They have tours and a small museum showing the history of the organization. My 2 boys still remember visiting there.
Yes I recall the smaller museum which was free admission but it has since been replaced with a much larger and more historically inclusive museum that does now charge admission but it is worth it.
In the evening as the sun is going down is the best time to see the plaza downtown as the sculptures all light up. So much fun on Market nights with free Salsa dancing on the plaza.
A lot of family and relatives trained their back in the day before being assigned to a post, I chose another avenue in the career fork in my road, go where the heart leads. Very nice video with your father Alina thanks for walk around. :)
Regina is a lovely city with some very nice Museums. Harriet and I remember Regina as having some fabulous restaurants. The Saskatch Magarita drink was tasty. A really nice video with some really cool music. Where did you get the music? Harriet wanted to mention that when we when there some years ago the parks and garden were so well maintained. As always, sending you lots of love💖💖💖 from Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond. Va.

Thanks . This video brings back a lot of memories ,. I finished my high school in Regina then moved to Ontario for the university and never back to Sask. again.......But still cheer for the Roughriders .
What a beautiful town, not too big, the perfect place to live peacefully. Regina looks very ordered and clean, like the other Canadian cities and towns. This travel with your dad, who is a very nice person, introduces us to Canada better. Thank you for sharing this awesome adventure with your wonderful dad.

Very good tour I been through Regina as a long haul trucker from America several times it is a beautiful, and well laid out city with a nice size downtown for a city so small.... And Alina your a very beautiful lady I like the Canadian accent.... Your dad seems to be a man of few words but when he does talks you need to listen... God bless you both.....
Regina seems like an amazing city! And how cool that the largest T-Rex, Scotty, was discovered in Saskatchewan, I've been a dinosaur nerd all my life and it must be awesome to see that huge skeleton in person! And the hotel and restaurant you guys were at looks gorgeous, and nice choices of lunch too! Moose Jaw - now that's a cool and unique name for a city, excited to see the upcoming video from there! Lots of love from Norway! :)
I've read a couple of posts and while they walked across the famous or infamous bridge downtown with the flags they failed to mention that it is the world's longest bridge over the shortest span of water. Little nerd fact for my fellow Saskachewanites.
Additionally, you are so blessed that your father does not drink Alcohol, which in other families, have caused more than a few problems. He has impressed many of us here who are watching this together.
Looking forward to that next video from Moose Jaw, I was born and raised there and try to get back there every once in a while. I've still got a cousin living there.
I love watching your Dad. He is so honest and straight to the point. He even likes Margaritas. Wow Regina is so beautiful. So nice to hear the biggest T-Rex was found in Saskatchewan. The Field museum in Chicago has one of the largest T-Rex skulls in the world. I think it was auctioned for 3 million dollars and donated to the museum. Great video Alina. 👍 👍 👍
I was underneath that building digging out a new basement while helping to reinforce it. Apparently tin sleeved piles built decades ago were not enough to support the 60 million lbs of granite above, it was sinking. So Dominion construction called in a company that hydraulicly puts in piles from California usually for docks. We fabricated 6" round 130 MPA reinforced concrete screw piles, cured 30 days, and that company set up plates that were grouted to the underneath of the Ledgislative building were huge hydraulic pistons were bolted to, and a massive 9000 psi pump. They pressed down those 1 meter long piles some 17- 20 meters deep using the underside of the building. That was 1st phase of the project, before digging out the lake to create an actual lake. I was underneath that left staircase for a week removing clay/soil/dirt. Afterwards, shotcreate was used to fill in voids after pouring basement concrete walls. That was my first construction project, I was 17 years old.
Too bad you aren't here this weekend. That beautiful little park downtown across from the Hotel Sask will be bustling with live music for the Regina Folk Festival. One of the oldest folk festivals in North America and one of the few that offers all the daytime programming for free.
My impressions of Regina are mostly colored by eight months in total that I spent there were in late fall, winter, and early spring. -40 with a wind that started at the rocky mountains just didn't quit. Wascana when frozen is just not as appealing. i just found it a depressing place. You made it look much more inviting.
I live very near the park in the vlog and walk or run there nearly every day. It’s a wonderful park and makes this city very pleasant to live in. You did a nice job to reflect the best sides of this city. Like most cities, Regina has its rough edges but you rightly point out that it is worth a visit for those traveling around in this country. Keep,up the good work! :)
Watch a couple of your blogs, I grew up in Chicago but was born at Gray Nuns hospital. My Mom's family are farmers in Odessa, weyburn. Visit a lot until covid hit. I am eager to see my family up there. Now it is my cousins who chose to farm. When we drive, we come through Portal driving through Estevan. Some family in Francis. I hold tight to my roots in Saskatchewan.

Lived in Regina & loved it & still miss it !
Smaller city , but has everything you need or want !
Regina very beautiful thank you for your job welcome to Istanbul Turkey 👍🌹
Too bad you aren't here this weekend. That beautiful little park downtown across from the Hotel Sask will be bustling with live music for the Regina Folk Festival. One of the oldest folk festivals in North America and one of the few that offers all the daytime programming for free.
Thank you so much.
Pretty cool city and music
Great video as always, Alina!! Your Dad is hilarious 🤣💚💚💚
Rcmp museum is something to see in Regina. In MJ, visit the tunnels and the western development museum
Love the BGM of this video~
My impressions of Regina are mostly colored by eight months in total that I spent there were in late fall, winter, and early spring. -40 with a wind that started at the rocky mountains just didn't quit. Wascana when frozen is just not as appealing. i just found it a depressing place. You made it look much more inviting.
There is some great hiking trails around regina! Wascana Trails to name one, if you're into that kind of thing.
Крутое видео!Когда планируешь снять видео в Манитобе?
Though I don’t live there anymore, Regina will always be my home 😍.
Oh that salad is to die for and I'll bet the dressing is "perfect"!
The Legislature really is one of the best in Canada
Watch a couple of your blogs, I grew up in Chicago but was born at Gray Nuns hospital. My Mom's family are farmers in Odessa, weyburn. Visit a lot until covid hit. I am eager to see my family up there. Now it is my cousins who chose to farm. When we drive, we come through Portal driving through Estevan. Some family in Francis. I hold tight to my roots in Saskatchewan.
