I Fixed The Most Cursed Keyboard On Amazon...

- I tried the Acer Predator Aethon 700 - the "coolest" Keyboard on Amazon... It can change from clicky to linear with the press of a knob - but there's one problem... IT SUCKS.

this keyboard is so cool and so bad that you have to subscribe and leave a comment of what I should look at next
I think I will
And then I did
And I have no regrets
Lol
Thats not linear, thaats just less clicky. Everyone could hear that except you. It doesnt acrually switch anything.
Oof, that’s maybe the worst final sound test I can recall hearing on the channel.
That was going to be my comment but you said it before me and I agree 100%. BIG OOF on this one.
It's out there something worst? Even the rubber keyboards should feel better
The clickiness of those switches, while in clicky mode, seems rather understated.
Is it me or it really goes from clicky to clicky?
Kinda
agreed, might be the actual video just being bad tho
Do I have really bad ears, or does the sound of the switches not change from one setting to the other? They both sound virtually the same to me, maybe like two different clicky sound profiles.
Same
I was about to say the same thing! I can hear a slight extra click (or something that sounds like really bad spring ping?) on the clicky setting. These clickies sound so linear, but like shitty linears. It's weird.
I thought the same - It's likely that my speakers aren't so good.. I'll try with headphones.
It changes, but unless you have good headphones/speakers you won't notice.
I guess this thing changes tactility more than sound
Ngl, kinda surprised this video isnt age restricted in the UK... I mean, hecc, it's just 10 mins straight of this cute guy playing with his knob.
CUTE BOY PLAYS WITH HIS KNOB GONE WRONG

1:48 "It even has a numpad, who uses those?"
Me. Everyday. 💀
A keyboard without a numpad is super weird to me.
Numpad users of the world UNITE!!
I only use mine to make the é in Pokémon, but I still find a keyboard without one to feel weird and look kind of midget-y.
Numpad, and please real full-size and none of those 96% or 1800. Just leave my keys in the usual place, thank you!
a separate tenkey is a modular numpad
@@fungalgrowth You're not wrong, but most keyboards nowadays appear to be in the 60-75% range. Even then, a lot of group-buy only TKL boards only get their numpad counterpart way later, or not both of them are available at the same time. Plus they are often larger together than a simple full-size.
Anyway, the whole point of this hobby is customization, but somehow for people who like full-size boards the options are somehow more limited in this space. Feels sad.
“It even has a numpad. Who uses those?”
Me. All the time, it’s so much faster with just the one hand typing.

Gotta love the anti-adobe gang
That knob allows the keyboard to switch from just vomit inducing to oh my ears are bleeding too!
I don't think those are even double shot keycaps, they just look like translucent keycaps sprayed with a layer of paint that eventually wears off with usage and you can no longer see the legends. Its similar to the keys on laptops with keyboard lighting. The legends on actual double shot keycaps will virtually never wear off as they have 2 layers of plastic to separate between the keycaps and the legends on them.
Anyone else hear basically no difference between the linear and clicky modes before his mods?
It was REALLY tough to record the difference because of how chattery the switches were
I'd love tech that lets you switch between your preferred switches and silent switches. That would be awesome. This just looks a bit useless but I'm down for innovation
Could you please do a video on ISO keyboards? The struggle is real for us up in the nordics.
Hipyo: "Who even uses numpads anymore?"
Accountants: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
actually, there is a sw that can go from cliclky to linear, the kailh box white. But u have to take them out of the keyboard and change them so this is still a cool tech
Keyboards that click are love they are life, the louder the better... Include a solenoid or a beeper, yes please!!!
disgusting
From a teenager to now something has changed in me and I can’t stand clicky keys for more than a keyboard sound video lol they make me feel like I’m typing on a toy because of the click. Now if I can get a typewriter sound just by changing switches that would be life
@@jlong390 think people have made typewriter mods that turn them into actual keyboards.
@@TheObsesedAnimeFreaks that sounds a little too expensive for me but I like the idea haha
@@jlong390 actually it shouldn't be that expensive, you just need to know how to DIY, also... linus made a video on it... 7 years ago. but there are options out there.
Also, you should do a review of the Zeal Clickiez.
The underside of the original keycaps appear to be one homogeneous plastic, indicating it's most likely painted on, and the legends etched off the paint, instead of double-shot printing. These caps are not well known for durability, and over time the paint can wear off essentially leaving splotches of clear plastic underneath the paint.
Hipyo Keychron Q Max series review when :(
what heycaps are those? I'm a sucker for spherical caps and centered legends.
I'd want to know it too. I love the shape
Am I the only one that doesn’t hear any difference in sound between clicky and linear?
The union jack knob joke got me.
I like those key caps, they are very 80’s inspired.
looking handsome hipyo (commenting before 5:26)
I got 2 cheap but good sounding Keyboards for you to try:
- ISY IGK 5500 WT
- ISY IGK 6500
I personally have modded the IGK 5500 WT to Perfektion.
We need to send this over to keybored for further analysis.
what would you recommend for the best feeling 100% full-size keyboard ? I have a gaming keyboard and I'd like a tactile thocky keyboard for my work.
3:13 at this point in the vid, the two modes sound exactly the same to me lmao
If I owned that keyboard, I'd be worried that people might try touching my knob without permission
Final sound test reminds of topre switches but certainly the initial sound is rather similar. Someone needs to type on it to tell the difference. Overall, no, seems like one redundant exaggeration.
Please test the Logi Mx Mechanical!!! I really wanna see a video on it :)
That Spacebar even after the Mods is obnoxious...
As for the Numpad, I mean... I use one, But it's external now. After discovering your channel, I came to love 75% and TKL Keyboards now. And the Mods? Hoo Boy...
what's with the hate for a numpad? they're really useful try doing literally anything involving numbers and you'll learn
No replies imma fix that
They are only useful for taxes, weird games that use numpad buttons out of the gate, simulator games and heavily modded games
tbf must of ppl use numpad.Thats why must of big company release full size keyboard first. i only see custom keyboard community said numpad is trash . Btw 98% is must popular layout in asia. Just saying.
For real. I haven't bought a new keyboard because everything interesting is made for children sized hands
So it's a clickbar restrictor that works with literally one design of clicky switches, honestly to me it feels like a gimmick. Who OEMs/ODMs these boxes anyways? What I find more interesting is that they're a linear clicky and not a tactile clicky. I'm surprised these aren't more common.
sounds good imo. outside this niche community most kbs are plastic, thats what you'd expect it to sound like
6:30 Davinci resolve user detected. Opinion accepted
that knob thing look like a shower lever where you adjust the temperature omfg ahahaaaaaa
i just got the keychron v1 max and im loving it
Finally a keyboard for indecisive people
Seems like it might be a better deal to just buy 2 prebuilt $100 keyboards and and get one with red switches and one with blue switches. Still the technology to make it switch between the two modes is ingenious.
mod 2 $50 keyboards with red/blue switches and you'll have an even better time. you could also mod the $100 keyboards but for people on a budget $50 + mods would be better
As someone who games with Box Jades, I don't get the whole thing of "clicky is bad for gaming" thing stuff like this seems like its supposed to resolve.
I also use a numpad. The muscle memory of keypadding in numbers is way nicer IMO than a top row. Especially for my job.
its not bad for gaming, its bad for discord hahaha
@@HipyoTech Ha, that's why I use Push to Talk!
@@galvanizeddreamer2051 Or just use the noise supression Discord offers you, people will not hear your clicky keyboard anymore
I feel like big brands nowadays dont make products like these with passion anymore, it feels like a cash grab, you could get a really nice ones by getting custom keyboards instead
Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though - it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.
Wow, crazy how acer went from the KB101-A to this
You know it's cool when Hipyo doesn't use his automatic screwdriver 🗣🔥🔥😎
This guy cares more about keyboards than most people care about anything else in their lives. It rules.
Please show a switch disassembled
Hmm yes
The CLICKNEAR
But actually, what if there was a keyboard that could actively switch between switch sets? Like, instead of just doing something to the switches, you could pull a lever or something to swap to a different set of switches inside the keyboard?
Hey, I use numpads. When I started my keyboarding journey, tenkeyless boards weren't a thing and after two decades I refuse to give them up. Ever. Fight me.
"Hey bro, cool features. Too bad your keyboard sucks."
Do you bother to charge all the keyboards you don't use to keep the batteries healthy? Is there some kind of round robin of charging you do?
Nope 😅 most of my backlog just kinda sits there and it would take days to rotate and charge everything
@@HipyoTech I see. Thanks for the reply.
I cant believe he sawed that keyboard in half.
If a keyboard doesn't have a numpad, I'm out.
If not clicky, Im not interested. Thock, clack, creamy are a no go for me. The odd one out I like to be. Shine through is not high quality? Explain please? Call me stupid but aren't key caps that don't shine through kind of useless despite backlit when it's dark and you don't use a desk lamp or monitor light?
This knob is so cool. You know what knob means in British English don't you?
Would really love a review of two epomaker models the TH80 Pro v2 and the Shadow-S Via.
I tried the Epomaker x Aula F75 which says it's gasket mounted and 5 layers of foam, but the switches couldn't even be mounted properly because of those layers. The shadow via s has a similar design, I think?
I currently have your keycaps and ice latte switches in the th80 pro and it is very smooth, but it has the knob and I don't really care about it. The th80 pro v2 did away with the knob but included a lcd screen. I just don't know if the v2 works as well as the 80 (v1) or if the Shadow s via is the better choice.
I love you reviews. Are you planning to take a look on Keychron Q1 HE? I am looking to buy this keyboard but I want to see some thoughts from reliable source
Man I was thinking about buying those keycaps. At least now I know the keycaps are probably worth it hahaha
Hipyo can you make a cyberpunk looking keyboard?!
I live in spreadsheets for work, I use num pads. A lot

hey hipyo! i need help! My Function key and left arrow key on my GMK67 stopped working! pls i tried everything! it aint working!

Everyone watch the video a few times so he can make back the money he spent on this piece of junk lol
it is a very cool keyboard because of its rgb modes
2:22 Cmon, I expected more from man who "owns 200 keyboards". Those are not even doubleshot, they're coated and laser etched.
I don't comment on how handsome Hipyo is today because he's handsome everyday
Hipyo: why haven’t you commented on how handsome I am yet?
Since no one has said yet, you’re looking good. 😎
3:58 Wooting? Didn’t they make an *analogue* keyboard? As in, *analogue control?*
Can you try the aula f75, all the reviews say that this is the best cheap keyboard, but I still want to see your review
Haha, using those keycaps on my NEO70 i love them even if the regular space bar make it a little weird.
That's not the only knob that's cool
I love your videos and i'm asking could u review the moondrop dash 75 please ?
Please tell me you have a Keychron Q1 HE video in the queue. The Wooting killer of all Wooting killers. I'm on day 5 of my Keychron and my Wooting is... actually I don't know where my Wooting is. My 9 year old asked why a keyboard was on the floor and I haven't seen it since.
Hipyo, you are the most handsome blue hippo man in the world
Oh no Acer predator!!! I have the Acer predator helios laptop from a few years back and it's actually been really really good to me. Don't stare directly into the rgb kids!!
Hello HipyoTech & community,
I could use a little bit of help. Well a lot actually...
After a long while, the Razer Cyanosa Chroma that I currently use, is slowly starting to show its age and I started thinking about replacing it.
I'm slightly leaning towards the budget side of things and was thinking about getting the Akko 5075s ( barebones) as the foundation.
For switches, since i dislike clicky sounding switches, after a lot of searching I stumbled upon WS Morandi linear switches. Apparently they are good?
As for keycaps I have literally zero idea. Preferably plain black or monochrome (pudding?) so they fit with the blackout theme of my Lian Li Dan case A4-H20.
I have literally zero experience with building keyboards and I don't even know if the switches and the board are compatible. I can only hope for some pointers and recommendations.
Best regards
George
It´s obvious that it´s intended for the non-enthusiast market. People who just want to buy a pre-built gaming keyboard, with RGB and a gimmick like that knob and switches. Those people have no idea the kind of quality keyboard they could buy or even build for $200 bucks. Another example of ¨ignorance is bliss¨ I guess.
HipyoTech has the best beard ever, so handsome
Agree?
👇
Also Hipyo pls review coolermaster sk650
I literally won't buy a keyboard that lacks the numpad, I use it daily lol
jack of none, master of none
i don't even hear a difference between "clicky" and linear
it's just a slightly different pitch of bad
i'm sure the sound doesn't fully convey through the youtube upload and any compression that happens there. but i can't imagine a big change in person either. just a shit keyboard all around
Hey Hipyo, this keyboard sounds... Uh... Not good. As for what you should try next, try the Azio Cascade 98 or 75
I love the way Renata Sorrah (Brazilian actress) became an international meme
Hey hipyo, can you review the Magegee Star75 yo?
Oh my god, there is literally NO difference, regardless of what you did to it. Not a single thing sounds different, between modded and unmodded, and between the switch changes with the knob. Yikes.
Thoughts on the Akko 7th Anniversary MOD 007 ???
Am I taking crazy knobs or waht becasue those clickity clacks sounded the same... and it's Acer, who knew they'd make lousy expensive keyboard.
What are those keycaps? They look like AFSA profile but slightly different.
I wonder what a keyboard would sound like if you used dollar bills as a switch pad. And then lined the back of the pcb with cash. And filled the case with wrinkled cash. Or lined the bottom of the case with cash. Can money make your keyboard sound better... literally?
Hipyo the keyboard professional 😮😮😮hippoooooo
You should check out the rk s98
can you try and review aura f75 ? i realy wanna buy it and it would be amazing to get such a review from you because i now if you say its good i can trust that
TIFO its hard to tell the differenfe between linear and clicky on 2x speed
can you test the Fnatic Streak65? It is a keyboard I have but it is the first one I have ever had. I modded it by adding foam and it sounds great to me and most people online agree. I just wanna know if it is good to a person who does this for a living (dont mean it in an asshole way)
why would i want to switch between linear and clicky switches for 220 dollars?
Thank you for bringing back the original oOOoO yEeeaH 😂
