Oh, man. When one listen to AJFA you realize that Lars can/could do some badass stuff! AJFA has the best guitar- and drumsound of all the Metallica albums IMO.

In my opinion Ride the Lighting has the worst drumming of all the albums. I t sounds like everything is re-used. Like he just played an average take of one song, then they used everything from that song for all the others too.
Black album is definitely the best guitar sound, AJFA has best drums, Master of Puppets best sound.
I really like the Kill em All guitar sound.

For what I've heard, this album is kind of...really good riffs and sections mashed together, hell, even Lars couldn't play many of the songs from AJFA to the last detail, and this right here is accurate as fuck
If something's different it's because Josh wanted it to be that way

The best drum cover ever of this song and Lars still is drumming on the current Metallica Album 72 seasons
the 0-1-2 fill that goes across the whole song and ends at 5.46 is pure genius. 1st time = no fill, 2nd time half fill and 3rd time full filll. masterpiece.
This is why And Justice for All is Metallica best album, the drumming alone on this album puts it on #1, including James's voice was at its peak, and there sound was perfected, the only bad thing about this album is the lack of the bass lol
Ive heard it with the bass remastered and TBH I prefer it without. It gives the album that gritty, raw sound it needs to be what it is.
I think the snare sounded like ass as well, but the playing was spectacular.
Lars is genious after all leaving bass out…
but enhanced bass is a cool stuff in ajfa

I was about 11 years old when One showed up on MTV. It was my first exposure to heavy metal. My mom took me to the store to get And Justice...on cassette 😁 when I heard the first three chords of this song DAH DAH DAH, it was all over for me. Still amazing to this day and I can't say that about a lot of music from the 80's.

As a drummer since almost 15 years now, AJFA is my favorite Metallica album regarding the complexity & technical difficulty of the drums.
I think you should check out Quo Vadis maybe Josh. Especially their song Dream is a very technical & progressive drum composition.
Thank you so much for being a continuous inspiration in my life when it comes to drums.
Your precision & your aspiration for perfection & your hard work ethics are very admireable.
