The US doesn’t have enough culture for this to be a yearly thing. It’ll either get repetitive or we’ll see cultural appropriation
I agree with your observations. United States is so politically correct lately and they don’t want to make people uncomfortable.
White Americans cannot showcase the achievements of their community because they will be accused of white supremacy and dominance.
Black Americans will not showcase the history of their community because it will remind people of their slavery period.
Non-indigenous cannot wear Native American attire because they will be accused of cultural appropriation.
Immigrants will not showcase their heritage because it is foreign and exists in another country.
So instead, they will just go with neutral symbols like state bird, state flowers and state flags.
Other countries are doing a much better job in preparing for costumes.

No hay cultura en Estados Unidos!! En verdad esos son sus trajes típicos!! Trajes de baño y botas, pantalones cortos y un balón!!

¿Qué esperas? Si los estadounidenses cometieron genocidio contra los indígenas. Además, a través de la esclavitud y separación de sus antepasados, las mujeres afrodescendientes olvidaron sus tradiciones africanas. A los estadounidenses de ascendencia europea no les importa conservar sus raíces europeas. Como consecuencia, el país no tiene cultura. Dakota del Norte es la única con cultura que portó su traje típico.

Why did she relinquished her crown as Ms. U.S.A? The crown is for her. That's the reason why she represented U.S.A in the Ms. UNIVERSE Pageant.
It was an automatic turn over when the reigning Miss USA happens to win the Miss Universe title. Since her focus would be in her new title which is Miss Universe.
