    I thought this was an astonishing fan film when I first watched it, it showed life before and after the civil war through the eyes of it’s citizens… it’s impressive how well it holds up all these years not just the quality of the film but the story as well.

    Stuff like this is what makes me adamant that Bioshock would be an amazing TV series. All the lore is right there for side characters

    I remember seeing this years and years ago when a younger me was first getting really into Bioshock. Glad to see it still holds up. I think those glimpses into the pre-fall Rapture are some of the most interesting parts of the series and yet we got so few of them beyond John Shirley's Rapture novel and the Burial At Sea DLC.

      Agreed. Given what the actors & cast had, they did extremely well with the production.

    You should play vampire masquerade bloodlines it feels a lot like bioshock with the characters and atmosphere but it takes place in the 90s and 00s after the end of a huge vampire war in Los Angeles the two main antagonists Lacroix and Ming are just like ryan and fontaine and there is even a mission with audio diaries and your sidekick Nines is very similar to Atlas

    My main issue with this is that it's more like a stage play than an actual short film.

    6:34 Free cigarettes as a gift to advertise some services and/or companies or at fairs or stores were quite common some decades ago. Even more so in Europe, I guess.

    I liked how, after they start taking ADAM, their studio is suddenly swamped with liquor bottles. Rapture is awash with alcohol, and the bottles are a great symbol of the degeneracy, despair, and addiction culture of a Rapture in social collapse.
    Would love to see you respond to JT Music's video of "Rise, Rapture, Rise"!!

      If you think about it, Levine opened up the Bioshock franchise to the multiverse and endless possibilities with the creation of Infinite but then ended it all and buried everything under the sea in the end. Levine, the creator and destroyer of Rapture and of Bioshock, burnt all bridges and never looked back and so shouldn't we. Not only Rapture is dead and destroyed, the whole Bioshock series ended there and then. Whatever comes next might use the name but it won't be Bioshock.

    • @MyShalora
      @MyShalora 9 месяцев назад +2

      Then stop watching videos about it. No need to watch them and then be snarky about them. Nobody forced you to watch it.

      @@MyShalora Calm down! As I said, it's great for what it was, 10 years ago. Everybody who is still hung up on Rapture however is lost like Charles mourning his wife in this play/short film. Take inspiration from it, learn from mistakes, keep it in good memory, have a sense of nostalgia, but leave Rapture behind and move on. Or keep living in the past, tell the same old stories of loss and heartache, make the same mistakes over and over again, like a junkie, like a splicer...

    This is the first time i see this piece of content, gotta admit everything about it is great, despite the scale being limited to one location they made sure they got every detail perfectly and i really loved the story of the two brothers and how thing developed with the introduction of adam, i like the mention of building Andrew Ryan's statue as well as its one of the controversial things people find questionable to his ideology, the fight scene in the end gave a twist to the events as well to the short film, great work by the people who made this and thanks for reviewing it again after all these years, its always good to come back to old content like this so people can remember it, great work Eric!
