Most underrated character in DBZ. Born with nothing, just a flicker of rage to destroy goku, but through that, he met his son, and everything changed. Through the son of his greatest enemy, he found love, and kindness, and was shown there was more to life than death or revenge, and upon the arrival of the sayians, this would be shown. Then Piccolo - born to kill goku, gives his life for the son of the very person he was taught and made to destroy... He then grows, he becomes more, and for a moment, just for a moment, he surpasses even the mighty saiyans. When all hope seemed loss against buu piccolo kept his head and came up with a plan, he bought the boys the time they so desperatly needed. Piccolo, you were born with nothing, but you gave everything.
Whoami691 I think Piccolo is the penultimate DBZ character. In a lot of ways, I think he's a better character than Goku. He goes through more changes, and is a loyal and wise friend, after being Goku's sworn enemy! I always liked the episodes where he played an integral part.

Pisses me off, all the people who insult the Bruce Faulconer score because they want to seem like purists. The Japanese music was great, but so was this music. (IMO, it's even better.)
I've never understood why people hate on Faulconer's music or the Japanese music. Honestly both have their really good tracks and both have their meh tracks.
Mike Smithmyer people hate on faulconer tracks for two reasons: 1- it never allows breathing room and contains a lot of filler noise in between great tracks. 2- Faucloner didn’t compose the soundtrack. His staff, who he denied credit to, composed the soundtrack... and he also blackmailed funimation (which is what got him fired before they started working on adapting DBGT). Basically he stole work and blackmailed his employers.

Various former employees of Faulconer have confirmed it (many still have active music careers, such as Scott Morgan, who was basically the entire sound of the show). Towards the end of the Kid Buu saga, Faulconer and Funimation were on bad terms, which is part of the reason why they stopped localizing soundtracks to their shows. I still prefer the Faulconer tracks, but I also don’t deny that he was a jerk.

Every time I listen to this. Gets me into an emotional wreck. One of the most relaxing and beautiful themes I've witnessed in my entire life. Long live the Namekian warrior, Piccolo. We will not forget the way you watched over Gohan and opened up his potential.

This song describes Piccolo just perfect... I mean just listen to it. It totally described Piccolo's nature. His pride, his nobleness, his loyalty. Seriously, Piccolo is probably the character with most development in the entire series. Toriyama did waste a potential character such as Piccolo in buu saga. Turning him Majin instead of Vegeta could make a huge dramatic scene. Too bad fans are bunch of fucking noobs who just want to see Goku vs Vegeta. Gohan's reactions to Piccolo turning Majin would be watchable, and way better than Vegeta's stuff.

A what if scenario, Piccolo fused with Kami before heading to Namek, as poetic as it was for Super Saiyan to defeat Frieza, It would've also been really great to see Earth's Kami/Guardian returning to his home planet, the nameless Namekian, to save his people from their oppressor
Akira Toriyama brought people all around the world together by creating this franchise. No matter how different we are in appearance, views, languages etc. we can all agree on one thing, we love Dragon Ball. That is an immortality made possible without Shenron. Piccolo fought against the winner of the tournament of power a person who even against SSJ Blue held his own and piccolo was able to become so powerful than he and Shenron became one. Truly a magnificent Z fighter.
If Goku is considered to be the Superman of DBZ then Piccolo is the Batman. He's dead serious, the smartest and most strategic of the Z-fighters, a loner, always calm and never lost his composure and a phisically towering figure. And much like how Batman has no actual superpowers, Piccolo is not a Super Saiyan but is still highly respected among his peers.
One of the reasons the Frieza and Cell sagas were I think the most interesting parts of the Dragonball series is because it hadn't yet turned into the "wait and see what Goku does" game. The moments where Piccolo really played a pivotal part in the progression of the story were amazing, alongside the legitimate back and forth of who would end up taking the "strongest character" throne next. That moment when Piccolo overcomes Android 17 and this theme comes on was phenomenal.
I love the first picture, it goes perfectly with the soundtrack. This song represents a certain calmness, but confidence and strength at the same time. Thus, the picture shows meditation and a strong glow.

The newest Dragonball movies/specials such as Battle of Gods didnt impress me. Instead of introducing a new overpowered character go back to making the fights about abilities and skills between equal foes. Why did they ever think making Goku even stronger was a good idea. To please the fanboys? Made everyone else even more useless. It would be okay if the "god form" was truly temporary but then they go and say Gokus magic body has learned how to keep the power. Stop jumping that shark. Stop it!
I wish it was like the first few sagas, where the all the z fighters had to team up and fight together to have a chance of winning, instead of one of the saiyans finding some new transformation and saving the day by themselves.

The dynamic elements of all the DBZ characters is just epic beyond all proportions. The DBZ saga can never be recaptured. These warriors redefined steel and brought their own versions of metal to the table. They simply are all badasses I their own right. Epic..

Piccolo is my fav character of all. And i'm so sad that Toriyama doesn't put him more, he was a good fighter and his development is so good! Vegeta's too but, I prefer Piccolo's. And this theme is very sad, but it describes Piccolo so much! This song gives me shivers every time I hear it.

Piccollo is my favorite cahracter in the series its really sad that in buu saga piccolo doesnt have any good fights instead they turn him into a somewhat comic relief mixed with support the last good fight he had was with 17 and that was near the mid point of the halfway point of the series he should make a big comeback in the new dragonball series akira toriyama is planning
***** well lets not forget who was wielding the chop sticks... besides, he still had a lot of screen time in the buu saga, he just didn't get to fight as much.
***** in cell saga he was an actual threat. he had ridiculous power before cell got the androids. from that point on, piccolo would never be a threat to much of anything ever again, even though he just become his complete self, you would expect him to really develop his powers after that.. but no, he's useless from that point on.
ultimategoobah He actually has a bigger role later in the series than what people think. He acted as a mentor to Goten and Trunks and actually had a lot of screen time before Vegeta was revived much later. He also managed to at least slice Babidi in half so that was pretty badass. Not to mention he put up a damn good fight against the Cell juniors, and participated in the final kamehameha against Cell, even being the first one to help Gohan out (well in the anime at least.) I wouldn't call that useless at all.
Every time I hear this, I feel such a great, deep respect for Piccolo. Sure, he's not the strongest character in the series, but he's been along for the ride ever since the beginning. And if it weren't for Piccolo, I guarantee you there wouldn't be half as many Z Warriors alive as there are today.

I miss these wonderful tracks. Z will always be the best. This is the only show I watched without religious parents knowing about it. It was so good that I couldn't miss one episode. And with Super I don't mind if it gets canceled.

I miss this piccolo he gave me a love for self discipline at a young age. I kinda related to gohan as a child, I was strong but also afraid I remember watching him help gohan find himself, which helped me. So in a way this character shaped who I am. It’s sad he’s become bit of a gag…I wish they would bring back the wise and badass piccolo that would arrive just in time to save gohan with his cape blowing in the wind like Batman lol.

One of the reasons the Frieza and Cell sagas were I think the most interesting parts of the Dragonball series is because it hadn't yet turned into the "wait and see what Goku does" game. The moments where Piccolo really played a pivotal part in the progression of the story were amazing, alongside the legitimate back and forth of who would end up taking the "strongest character" throne next. That moment when Piccolo overcomes Android 17 and this theme comes on was phenomenal.

The newest Dragonball movies/specials such as Battle of Gods didnt impress me. Instead of introducing a new overpowered character go back to making the fights about abilities and skills between equal foes. Why did they ever think making Goku even stronger was a good idea. To please the fanboys? Made everyone else even more useless. It would be okay if the "god form" was truly temporary but then they go and say Gokus magic body has learned how to keep the power. Stop jumping that shark. Stop it!
I wish it was like the first few sagas, where the all the z fighters had to team up and fight together to have a chance of winning, instead of one of the saiyans finding some new transformation and saving the day by themselves.

Zeng Vuh all the time in dragonball it was to go beyond your limits in order to defeat an overwhelmingly strong foe. there never where equal foes. the z fighters always had to go FURTHER BEYOND in order to have a chance against their opponent. if they stop improving THEN the dragonball series truly dies.

Piccolo is my fav character of all. And i'm so sad that Toriyama doesn't put him more, he was a good fighter and his development is so good! Vegeta's too but, I prefer Piccolo's. And this theme is very sad, but it describes Piccolo so much! This song gives me shivers every time I hear it.

My favorite part of Dragonball Z was when piccolo was fighting 17 in which piccolo Knocked 17 on the ground then piccolo lands on the ground glowing bright blue while His theme music kicks in , 17 is asking out loud how did he beat me? Gives me chills thinking about it!

in cell saga he was an actual threat. he had ridiculous power before cell got the androids. from that point on, piccolo would never be a threat to much of anything ever again, even though he just become his complete self, you would expect him to really develop his powers after that.. but no, he's useless from that point on.
ultimategoobah He actually has a bigger role later in the series than what people think. He acted as a mentor to Goten and Trunks and actually had a lot of screen time before Vegeta was revived much later. He also managed to at least slice Babidi in half so that was pretty badass. Not to mention he put up a damn good fight against the Cell juniors, and participated in the final kamehameha against Cell, even being the first one to help Gohan out (well in the anime at least.) I wouldn't call that useless at all.

I miss these wonderful tracks. Z will always be the best. This is the only show I watched without religious parents knowing about it. It was so good that I couldn't miss one episode. And with Super I don't mind if it gets canceled.

I miss this piccolo he gave me a love for self discipline at a young age. I kinda related to gohan as a child, I was strong but also afraid I remember watching him help gohan find himself, which helped me. So in a way this character shaped who I am. It’s sad he’s become bit of a gag…I wish they would bring back the wise and badass piccolo that would arrive just in time to save gohan with his cape blowing in the wind like Batman lol.
