You're right, definitely a performance song. Soyeon recently said a big part of writing it was that she wanted a song to open up a concert. Their first world tour, they opened with OMG. Their second one this last year, they went with Dumdi Dumdi. So definitely makes sense... You can tell they've really gotten used to performing live.. can see it in the way they interact with audiences... One of the things they've really grown on in their last few years. It's gonna be big when they go on tour: A Cube exec recently said that they want to try and get arena-sized venues.
I think Soyeon/Minnie switching up vocal/rap in the beginning was because Soyeon had all the "leader/center" frontwoman kind of verses, so her getting the opening makes sense... especially when this will almost certainly open a tour or be a big year-end performance. But Minnie's super versatile and cool that you can give her the rap lines and she'll do a good job with it.
Whoa. Minnie actually said on a recent variety that Soyeon originally wrote the opener for Miyeon, but she wasn't able to sing it. So they tried having Minnie do it, but she wasn't able to do it either. So that's why Soyeon ended up with that part... which is a major flex for Soyeon's vocals.
I don't see where anyone else mentioned, $800k+USD budget, and the members contributed half of it. When they sing, 'back it up,' they (the group, not Cube) did.
