This should go without saying, but this video is in no way meant to hate on the Kirby anime series.
The anime was how I first got into Kirby and was my main source for Kirby for the longest time. My Kirby's Adventures in Dream Land series is mainly an innocent, silly comedy which tends to make satirical jabs at certain subjects in question. Some humor can be rather crude at times, perhaps. But nothing with malice behind it!
If current years are anything to go by, the world of the Kirby video games is here to stay and the anime has long since ended. This video is more or less meant to reminisce on the anime, looking at all the points that made it unique. Both good and....less than stellar.
Again, all of this is coming from someone who really likes the anime series! I suppose even I'm not above pointing out or taking jabs at the miscomings of things I like..
If you were genuinely displeased or felt hateful bias towards the anime in this video, I of all the people in production sincerely apologize.
At the end of the day, this is all made for harmless fun and for the purpose of celebrating our love of the Kirby franchise. No matter which series you're into.💙
I felt no malice in this. I actually liked how the character flaws in the anime were pointed out. In production, or if they were made that way on purpose, I liked it! I also agree with most of the dialogue. It's agreeable and accurate. There were some moments that didn't make sense and plot holes, but I really liked it! I also want to know if I can redraw this video as a comic and post it on tumblr(this feels so weird to ask lol (it would be done on paper) I will give full credit and I will fill in gaps in the dialogue (creating more scenes), change it up alittle to fit my style! I would love to share it with you if I'd finish it. All with permission, of course. I loved this so much, lol
Both the anime and Return to Dreamland are how I first got into the Kirby media in the first place!
The anime was how I got into the series as well! This video felt like a love letter to fans of the anime and loved the interactions between the game and anime counter parts especially with the meta knights! I also loved the details with the game versions having brighter colors while the anime versions have darker colors
(One think i kinda wish you did use "Puyo" since kirby is a silent protagonist... ..i-i ..honestly perfer him saying that.. O
H i kinda wish you used text boxes. Yes, i know "anime" voices and all...
(I love the anime too! But at the same time it ALMOST does everything well to kirby.
Like for example, there are no humans in Right Back At Ya.
But the anime sadly was airing before kirby would go and... fight... demons regular and have complex lore.
But sadly I kinda perfer the text boxes so viewers can imagine how the characters sound like.. but i do wish it had 8-bit sprites.

(Also sadly doesn't have a consistent timeline. ..and im guessing the time this video is out dreamland deluxe info isn't out yet.)

The whole reason void fights kirby in star allies is its experencing "Feelings" or something like that for the first time...
Or it kinda is scared.. maybe upset..?
But in story mode void was kinda.. just manifested so it plays like a child almost..
I saw it as a decent self parody, on par of the best of the Abridged series.
Now imagine if the right back at ya characters visited the canon universe

I love how in the end Escargon was begging the other Dedede to stay because of the differences between him and the anime version of him. Which I don’t blame him because of the fact he’s constantly abused- the man just wants a stable relationship and king that can love him the way he always dreamed of being loved 💀💀💀

This was great, tho, everything was damn accurate (especially Magolor lol) and the clear affection for the anime did shine through. Happy Belated Birthday, Kirby!

This feels like a Kirbified version of that "Spongebob Meets His Past Self" video, but stretched out to match the full length of an actual episode of Right Back At Ya, love that little detail. And I love how you didn't try to cram as much lore from the games into this as possible to prove how much you know, just sticking to one modern character to drive the storyline and focusing more on the differences between the tropes and personalities between the anime and game universe.
But even I won't lie, a Sonic Generations-type game that crosses both timelines over would be amazing.

I do hope we get to see the animal buddies reacting to their counterparts. With the exception of Chuchu, Nago, and Pitch who found out there were no versions of themselves.

Gotta say, I quite liked this! The interactions between the game cast and their KRBaY counterparts were quite fun, and there were some good jokes here and there, such as Magolor really only bringing the game cast to the animeverse for a blog post and the running gag of Meta Knight being continually unimpressed by his counterpart from the show. Not that I personally dislike that version of the character or anything, but he does raise some good points.
I'm moreso a fan of the main game series than I am of Kirby Right Back At Ya myself as the show doesn't really do it for me as a longtime fan (though it's cool it has its fans even today), so I'd understand if the little lighthearted jabs at the show aren't everyone's cup of oddly-specific-beverage, but I didn't really find them too mean-spirited. I dunno, I guess this is simply a result of comedy being perhaps one of the most subjective things in the world. Either way, this was a pretty swell crossover animatic. Great work to everyone involved!
...oh, and I can't help but wonder if Magolor's last line could be alluding to him potentially bringing the game cast into the worlds of the other not as well known Kirby adaptations, like the various manga adaptations and the light novels. I imagine those escapades will most definitely take place off-screen though, since who am I to pressure someone into making something? Again, nice work all around!

As someone who grew up with both the anime and games, this is a joy to watch! Everyone who worked on this deserves a kudos for the work they've done!
This makes me want more Kirby right back at ya.
What if they did another 100 episodes of Kirby: Right Back at Ya? But it'll have modern enemies like Magolor, Sectonia, etc., and new Copy Abilities like Beetle, Spear, ESP, Poison, Archer, Sand, etc. while also continuing from the first 100 episodes?

The fact that game Nightmare has been reduced to such a non-threat that kirby forgot they fought him is pretty on point. In terms of final bosses he really only stands above dedede from game 1. Pretty sure any interation of dark matter trumps him, heck even crowned magalor was a greater threat.
Missed opportunity to not make fun of lololo and lalala being called Fololo & Falala in the anime for some reason

I loved how they pointed out the character flaws and the logic of their continuities! As someone who was introduced to Kirby through the games(like super star ultra) and the anime, this was a delight.
Not only that but you captured the essence of the show and I love you went out of your way to point characterize according to their content. You even went out of your way to get different voice actors of each character. As a long time Kirby fan of the anime and games; you can tell this was made with such time and care...this whole thing is a love letter to both franchises as a whole, well done. 🥰👏🥰👏

This was so amazing, the art looks so awesome and the voice acting was very accurate to the characters. I’ve always wondered what it would be like for characters from the Kirby games to interact with the characters from the Kirby anime and here it was done perfectly, personally I like the game universe a lot more but the anime one is still cool too. Everyone did such a great job on this. Anyways great video as always, I’m excited to see what adventures come next 👍
For the most part, interactions were done really well, except for Game Meta Knight imo. He sounded to arrogant and a jerk to me, nothing like the honorable warrior he's made out to be. But that's just me, I still think this was a great watch.
@@22kingdomheartsfan I disagree. Anime Meta Knight is a trained warrior, and it's not unreasonable to expect him to help in a fight, especially when his student is getting hurt.

He basically said "I'm awesome, you all suck" to everyone and that's not something he would say to anyone, its seriously OOC. More over, Anime Meta Knight is training Kirby yeah, but he's got that case of "how will he learn if I always step in to help", which Anime did help a few times.

I really like the dynamics between the Game Dimension & Anime Dimension characters, especially between the Meta Knight's. XD
This Captures the feeling of an Episode of Right Back At' Ya' really well, and honestly feels like it could fit in really well as a 102nd episode of the show.
Lank Lunchadore was a really creative and well designed Monster and I could totally see fitting into the show or even the GBA era games, and I really like how you used it as a means of working Wrestler Kirby into the climax. (Also the Hat you designed for Anime Wrestler Kirby is perfect!)
The little nods at things like Anime Meta Knight's more Lackadaisical methods were really well handled, poking a bit of fun and addressing some of Right Back At Ya's less than perfect characterization choices without feeling mean spirited.
In terms of Art Direction I think you did a great job illustrating this entire animatic & you really captured the style of Right Back At' Ya'!
Little details are a big deal to me and things like the colors Anime Kirby uses or even the attention to how his poses were handled (Like when trying to suck up the Chair for example) are spot on!
I'm sure this project was no easy feat but I think the effort you put into it really shines through.
Everyone did such a great job with the voices, between the Impersonations of the Anime Cast to the Original Voices everyone really knocked it out of the park with their performances.
Tuff & Game Dedede were spot on, and I really liked Bandana Waddle Dee's voices too!
Also, J, I gotta' say you did a fantastic Job with the voices you did yourself!
I honestly didn't recognize any of the voices you did until I saw the credits.
Your impressions of Sword & Blade are right on the money & your Meta Knight voice is really good too!

I was working on the image slides since last year and they were quite time consuming.(but fun!) I did in fact try my best to make the art style of the anime world look as accurate as I could. Lank Luchadoré was actually a reconstruction of an old, old Dedede lacky OC I made for a lost KRBay fanfic! Haha
I ain't no VA, but I gave the anime Knights my all! It was kinda strenuous getting all their accents and tones right, leaving me with a sore throat.(How did Eric Stewart do it?!XD)
Everyone else did a fantastic job and I couldn't be happier!^^

This is a really nice crossover. I feel like maybe anime Meta Knight could've been given a bit more respect from everybody, but to be fair he DOES just kinda stand around until Kirby gets a new ability or Tiff is in danger. I liked it!

Wow, the quality of the voice acting boosted a lot since the last episode! Kirby still doesn't sound like a child, but not completely like a grown man either, Bandee isn't a girl anymore, I can finally understand Dedede and Meta Knight's lines, and most of the voices for the characters from the anime are nearly identical to the official ones (except Escargoon who sounded mostly bored to me).
I really like my new voice for Kirby! It's actually sort of a compromise between his typical higher, cutesy voice and my ideal normal, teen like voice. Hope Claire stays for future episodes!🤞
Even if the quality of my videos don't meet your expectations, please remember that me and all the people involved really do work hard to put our best performance forward. But even then, we're all just human.

as a former hater of the kirby anime, it actually joys my heart to see the anime's flaws exposed (joke or not) via the characters and the mean spirited humor. 11 year old me would have wanted to see this.
Well, the humor portrayed wasn't intended to be 'mean spirited' per say. More so little deconstructed jabs at the anime series since that was the focus for this special. This is a comedy, after all.

In my oppinion, Game Kirby should visit Anime Kirby sometime. It could be just him and Magolor, since the rest doesn't want to come back.
But, if Meta Knight decides to go with them, he could teach Anime Meta Knight a few tricks(maybe take The Halbird with him too?).
Anyway, this was an awesome video and I hope there will be more like that!
It's really enjoyable seeing this video of yours! It also has given me a greater appreciation for the game version of DeDeDe!
By the way, you raised a good point about the anime Meta Knight. As awesome as he was in the show, especially his voice, he barely done anything worthy of his reputation.
I'd like to think its mainly cause he wants Kirby to do it so he can get stronger. Its like he follows the logic "How's Kirby suppose to grow as a warrior if I handled all the problems?". That would make the most sense to me. But most things in Kirby don't really make sense, anime or games if you think about it. So maybe anime Meta Knight is just lazy. Who knows?

Won't lie... *would totally watch another crossover episode of this.* Maybe they arrive AFTER the events of episode 100?
Overall loved it! Seeing the main cast put up with the absurdity of the anime world was a blast. The voice work for the anime cast was on point too. Liked that Kirby couldn't even understand his counter part. The fact that Kirby himself talks is a welcomed change in how often I see Kirby represented in fan stuff. The anime caused people to believe "Poyo" is how Kirby has always talked but that is simply not true lol. And Dedede having respect for those beneath him and getting annoyed of his counter parts attitude was comedy gold. My only nitpick would be how arrogant Meta Knight is to his Anime self. Don't get me wrong, he deserves every bit of criticism. (I really felt that "pity" remark at AMK sitting the boss fight out) But I feel like he was being unjustly judgey of his other self before he actually saw how disappointing he truly was. Would have worked better if all the smack talk came afterwards in my opinion. Other then that, I really like how you nailed MKs other character aspect, like seeing Dedede as an equal. Keep up the good work.

The western voice of King DeDeDe from Kirby Right Back At Ya, it's an ideal voice for DeDeDe which fit his personality in both anime and game. Same goes for Meta Knight.

Admittedly an awkward edit. It's supposed to transition to where the star portal was when it vanished. The two bgs do look very similar.
The Dedede in the anime is 3 Kirbys tall while the one in the games is only 2 Kirbys tall.

I absolutely love this, haha. I adore fan stuff like this where two different canons in the same franchise end up meeting. I’m very disappointed we only got one episode, lol. Cause I swear I can binge a whole series of this (as unrealistic as that is)
I think my only criticism would be that Escargoon seems a bit… TOO loving of Game Dedede. I get where the ideas coming from. Anime Dedede is such a prick while Game Dedede is lazy and ignorant at worst, so obviously he’d like the game version better. But idk. Escargoon always seems to be just as much of a jerk as his highness. And I feel like because of that, he’d just find Game Dedede too disgustingly soft and cheesy. Especially given his size and general appearance in comparison to anime triple D. (Nice touch with that by the way, lol.)
But then again, this is the first time anyone’s truly stood up for him when he got hurt, so perhaps it’s a bit more realistic then I’m giving credit for. Regardless it’s not a big deal, haha. It didn’t really harm my enjoyment at all.
