  • In my quest to stay ahead of the Street Car Game in our camp, I have to continue to get faster or risk getting beat by (gasp) either a Mustang, or a 3rd Gen Camaro driven by Kenny Powers. So, there’s no better way to spend a night at your local track! I crank up the bottle pressure, shorten the ramp, and TURN IT LOOSE!

Kenny and Harley are always there for yous all even with all that goes on. Yous should always be there for him..... get his car back in on the ramp and all of yous muck in and go thru it front to back, sort all these gremlins and problems.. he deserves more seat time and doesn't appear to get it. Itl be done and reliable in no time if you all muck in.

In addition to the side panels behind the bumper that keep air going through the radiator, the lower valence is like an air scoop for the cooling system. The electric cooling fans worked good when the duct work out front is in tact and half ass sealed. Without the duct work the fans won't keep it cool. Most people threw that stuff away not realizing it was essential for A/C and engine cooling efficiency.

Bill keep in mind that the larger hose will hold more mass in it. Causing an even faster bottle pressure drop. The twin bottles would be the ticket with 2 -4 to a -6 feed. That will keep the line pressure as high as possible. 🤙

Hey Bill. Few things that work well in these situations.
-Add another bottle, with a Y block into the same main line.. The second bottle maintains pressure in the system on a given hit, and lasts longer before bottle changes. It is not just for "Big" hits. Smaller hits maintain pressure on the big end.
-We run an average of 1,050psi for the hit. Higher the pressure at the start, the higher at the end. Keeps the nitrous in a "gaseous" form to be most effective. Watch your timing. This is usually for hot and sticky days.. Lower pressure keeps it in a more liquid state, less power, less hit, and will tend to run a bit richer for a given hit. This is usually for good air days as it is just more of a tuning window.
-Going to the bigger main with a single bottle tends to drop pressure more, as the volume needs to recover in a bigger line. Usually needs more bottle pressure to become effective.
-A -4 line is more than enough for up to 400hp worth of pills. More important is constant, and consistent bottle pressure. Hence the second bottle.
-Shorter lines hit harder than longer lines. Regardless if from bottle to solenoid, or solenoid to plate. Even on the same size hit.
Something I do with my customers, especially with small tire grudge guys on the street, run a big kit, with a smaller plate. The amount of holes greatly effects how it hits without sacrificing much over all power.
Your suspension and converter, as tight as they seem, need that hard hit to plant the tire and get the front suspension to react. You can see how the car reacts the more aggressive you get compared to NA.
Not telling you what to do, just a few ideas. Best of luck.

@@theoldmansgarage thanks for the reply. As a dad you gotta be so proud of all your family. You are living a blessed life. I tried my damn hard to get my boy doing something. I built and finished his first ride after even being engulfed in a gas explosion. He wants to play those damn games. Any help you can give how to get kids going forward like what you have done with yours would be so greatly appreciated. I know you're a busy guy and if you don't have the time I respect that. Be safe ,from our family to yours. We send love and a big god bless. ,,, Beardmore Ontario Canada

Looks like that win in Mexico lit a fire in your need for speed! Who wants to start a pool on when the Malibu has a 408, 245cc heads, solid roller cam, a fogger system, and a Glide with a brake, running low 8's 😁😂 I'm gonna say by July of next year

Really great runs Bill. Check all your fuel filters E85 is probably cleaning the gunk in your tank, and plugging your filters

Hey Bill my brother’s John Deere GT 235 has been solid for years and he has punished that tractor lol. We had sparks flying too this year and had to replace that pulley and carriage bolt. Also this is the first time I had to clean the carburetor in all these years. I finally convinced him not to run anymore fuel with any ethanol in it. Runs great again ! You will get those 10’s pretty easy I think . I hope to see more 1/4 mile passes this year if possible. Have a great weekend buddy !

Had this same problem on a previous kit. The answer, without a doubt provided your under the flow rate max of the solenoids, is a second bottle or a larger 15lb bottle. Once I added the 2nd bottle, no more problems. Pressure at the solenoid stayed consistent through the whole 1/4 mile. Basically, more volume. I think if you stay with the same 10lb bottle and up your feed line to -6AN, and more sportsman style solenoids, you are going to have the same issues. But I am anxious to see. That 10 second pass is close! Edit: And that was with a -4 feed. If you go to a -6 Feed and larger solenoids, the second 10lbs or larger 15lb bottle will pay dividends in keeping the pressure consistent with the larger flow volume.

Hey Bill… I use the same Mainline kit as you on a 68 Camaro, very mild big block power… -4 line from trunk to solenoid which is about 16’ long with a couple loops in it in the trunk area….and from my experience , the “150” jets , on the mainline kit , out of the box, was literally a brick wall for me…sooo, I had laying around a nitrous outlet .178 nitrous solenoid versus the mainlines .078, and left the original mainlines .112 fuel solenoid as for I really thought there wasn’t an issue with the fuel side at all… after a few passes,I ended up gaining 3 tenths (11.20 to 10.90) on basically the same jetting as before and a couple mph as well… I guess it’s one of those things where every combination acts a litttle different , but that’s how mine went….so after I felt like I was doing too much mis matching and engineering…. I ended up buying a Nitrous outlet Stinger 3 plate kit and upgraded to a -6 feed line and started with the 150 jetting and picked up another 2 tenths from before.. ( 10.90s to 10.60s) and haven’t looked back yet….

Im leaning more towards a converter or trans issue, possibly even ignition.
It picked up 2 and a half tenths and no mph. Thats not a nitrous issue.

Bill are you able to watch the fuel pressure as you make your hit. You might try a bleed off on the fuel side. I always use the ones that take a nitrous jet from magna fuel. Makes keeping the fuel pressure consistent when making your hit. Anyways good luck 👍🏻
