That's why they are entitlements. What is NOT an entitlement is welfare of any and all sort; those are not paid for, therefore recipients and not entitled.

Government should keep a firewall around the fund. It should not be used as Billions for Ukraine or any other purpose. Many other countries protect their low-income, disabled, and seniors much better than US. Trickle down economy was disproven decades ago.

Entitlement? The last time I checked, I've been paying into these programs for my whole life. Mismanagement is not my fault! Pushing dates back on benefits seems like the Fed's are hoping I expire before they need to pay up!

I have a problem with calling Social Security and Medicare “entitlements”. We do, after all, pay for them like we do insurance.
Entitlements, has two definitions
US ENGLISH:
a government program that provides benefits to any individual meeting certain eligibility requirements.
or
the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment
Please get better informed when presenting topics that you share with the public. Neither of these programs are entitlements. This are programs that we worked for and invested in.

Don't you TOUCH my SSDI. I worked from the day I turned 16 (was the first legal day) did not become disabled til in my 50s. Monthly checks are no where near what I made, and I was living almost paycheck to almost paycheck. No gucci, no iphone. PAY YOUR TAXES, I did

Those of use that were a part of the “Social Contract” of deposits to Social Security for 40 years MUST we return on that money invested in the fund. We DID invest in something - the government’s program.
The truth is that MOST people would not save on their own and the Social Security is a back stop that gives a base for last years.
Even wealthy persons who gave money to Social Security should get a return on their money - even though it is not their primary retirement funds.
The bigger problem is the birth rate drop, and the phasing out of employment due to technology innovation The dollars coming in will not cover the cost.

*Entitlements* WTAF! Working citizens were made to pay into social security funds! They were not asked or given a choice! Their checks were automatically deducted X% from their paychecks! How does that qualify as an entitlement? It is an insurance every working American has paid for. FICA! Is the *Federal Insurance Contributions Act*
Everyone I know has no problem working until they die. They will sacrifice relaxation and pleasure so that they can see their kids/grandkids not have to work. The older generations (older then 40) are selfless!!!

It is already bankrupt. There is zero in the FED savings account. It is pay as you go from the shrinking taxpaying base. Your pension is now in Ukraine.
Excuse me but Medicare is not an entitlement. We all paid into this and had no option to opt out. We are getting a pay back for our investment. If the government thinks they will get away with not paying to those who paid in they might want to think again.

The states should take over ssi ,why is it that in Europe we can retire at 55 and can actually enjoy our retirement,here we work till 67 or whatever and retire then spend the rest of our lives going to doctors appointments.when we have family reunions all we do is sit around and talk about our doctors appointments
