Hello, I have a hair appointment nextweek, and this hairdresser doesnt know what colour remover is. So to reduce hair damage, Im thinking if I could remove it at home with colourfix or oops before walking in. I have dark brown/black hair naturally, i had my bottom bleached and didnt like it, so i covered it with blue black a few times and my bottom is quite brown now. My concern with colour remover is, i used blue black dye on my virgin hair too, and concerned it might turn reddish. Do you have any suggestions? Is it better to just go in to salon and have him do what he can or should i remove some colour before walking in? im trying to get a balayage

Please make a direct dye removal video! I dye my hair with semipermanent direct dyes such as ion and want to know what the best way to remove it is. I will love you so much more! (For anyone other than Guy I'm well aware of the at home removers and box removers, which are not for semiperm dye anyway, so please no rude comments)

So i have a question about the color remover and i apologize if you have answered this already I just couldnt read through all the comments to see if my question has been asked. so sorry!
Ok question. was your hair pre lightened when you used your last ash color? in other words, why does the color remover look like its taking your hair lighter (removing the amonia dyes) taking it to an orange or brass like a bleach would, rather than the color remover just removing the color completely and taking your hair back to your natural hair color? it looks at though if you were to keep using the color remover that it would keep going lighter and lighter similar to what a bleach would do, rather than stopping the color removing process right at your underlying natural color? i hope that make sense.
P.s i love love love you and love all the education you provide and would love to learn more during your balayage and ombre videos what color lines you are using, techniques, and time lines so i can plan for the future! xxoxo!!

I recently dyed my hair red with developer and after I got tired of it i decided I wanted to go brown when I went back to Sally’s the girls there told me black would be easier and LESS damaging then color stripper man I can’t tell you how mad at myself I am because I knew this is my soul that this had to be wrong but I chose to listen to them long story short I ended up having to chop chop chop it up ! Cause not only did I damage it by dying it back to black with developer! But after it was all said and done my hair was all sorts of crazy colors I decided enough was enough so here I am now remover in my hair educating myself love you so so much boo! You need to start a school I would love to learn by someone as artistic and inspiring as you much love Amanda btw I know this is an old ass video I just felt the need to share this in hopes you’ll see it ! Mainly because something I’ve also learned today is by giving up on my appearance of my hair I was giving up in myself because I genuinely make sure I always look nice I like to look nice and there’s zero wrong with that !

yaa! I dyed my hair this violet color and my hair dresser kept bleaching my hair. I'm not sure if the haircolor remover could've remover the violet bc I'm not sure if it was "oxidized" or ionized lol idk I'm not a professional hairstylist. anyway the bleach damaged my hair so much!

Thank you soooo much! This is the absolute best video I've seen on this topic, I learned so much! I tried "Color Oops" hair color remover and applied twice and was still left with an orange cast. I read if that happens you need to use bleach but I had no idea about what brand or how to use it and how important it is to not totally remove all the orange, that makes perfect sense now! Just one question, other people have mentioned using a purple or ash blue based "toner" as one way to get rid of unwanted "yellow or orange" tones after dying. Then "IF" that doesn't work, then bleach and color to your desired color. In what circumstances would you use toner after the hair color remover (if at all) vs. going straight from hair color remover to bleach then new hair color? Thanks so much in advance if you get the chance to reply!

    Hi Guy,
    Great Video
I have a question, recently I went red/purple at the salon. They used pure pigments... I loved it but then wasn't happy with it because it faded too quickly and took a lot of maintenance. A few months later I thought platinum blond... crazy right? So I bleached twice, now I have a level 9, 10 very light orange. I was just going to tone but my roots are platinum... how do I blend go a bit lighter without totally damaging it? Bleach again ? Color Remover, or just tone the hair?
    Thanks
    Britt

As a beginning stylist, how would you use the color removers when the clients has Hi-lights and low lights. Will the color remover have any affect on the bleached out hair? Can it be applied over all the hair as you did in this video, or would it only be applied to the color treated hair, and not the bleached hi lights? Knowledge is everything when it comes to hair.

What's your advice/opinion with using "Oops Color Hair Remover" on black hair? Note I dyed my hair black 5 months ago but re-dyed it again 2 months ago and have been planning on wanting to do "granny hair" but I'm no so with the bleaching process of my hair :( Please Help! hi I don't know if it's too late but j just saw a RUclips video on two girls using the oops color and it worked well for them! one left it longer than recommended time and her hair was still super healthy! from experience cause my hairdresser bleached my hair her hair looked WAY healthier. so I recommend doing the oops color corrector a few times then bleach to get to blonde and tone it afterwards

Guy Tang You know the the old tale about if you get sprayed with by a skunk tomato juice will get rid of the smell? It's kind of the same concept. Use a fresh fruit blend and use it like you would shampoo then rinse. It worked for my hair! (:

Your videos have been so helpful for me and my hair experiments! How do you know if a dye is an oxidized or direct?
I have been using permanent (one n only argan oil hair color in 4RV) for many years. I plan to try to get back to my natural hair color/tone which is a about a level 5/6 Ash brown).
My biggest issue I have been having is the toning process...it doesn't seem to work after I do my color strip (used color oops and colorfix remover and the Wella toner), yet I see people toning their "orangey" hair with ash dye...any thoughts as to why it works for some people but not others? Perhaps just different hair history, texture etc?

Hello Guy, I have gotten addicted to your videos. Thanks so much. I have one question, how safe is this to use on Relaxed African American Hair? I want to use it but I'm afraid that with the double processing (ie relaxing and coloring) it will remove too many oils from the hair and possibly revert the relaxer some and cause breakage. How well does this work on Relaxed Hair?

You are the cutest thing ever, and not to mention so talented. Anyway, I want to ask...I know that you said color remover only removes oxidative dyes but I've seen you use it to remove a bright pink, (in which it removed most of it but not all) do you find that it DOES in fact remove fashion colors a little bit or was that particular pink an oxidative dye? Thank you, love you

Thanks for a great video! My salon doesn't have any heat source, just blow dryers but no hooded dryers or heat lamps. Which color remover do you recommend that doesn't need heat?
Also, would a shampoo/bleach, water combination work if our color line doesn't make a color remover?

Hi Guy. I've been purple/lilac/lavender semi permanent my hair for about 4 months now. Its supposed to wash out the color slowly. BUT IT DOESN'T. Can I still use the Pravana Color Extractor to get it back to the almost grey hair ( bleached to grey before purple color was put on.) Thanks for these tutorials, it helps out big time. May that light stays within you. You are very talented *;)
