Nice video… A couple comments I have not heard anyone mention…. Putting the screen on top actually keeps the machine much cleaner inside. Blooming is contained in the portafilter Also…. A screen cleaning tip. It can be clumsy to get the screen off the puck. What I do is tap the puck out on to a 5x7 plastic cutting board. Underneath the puck I am putting an old credit card or knife. Then use the credit card to flip over the puck so the screen is now on top. Let that cool for a couple minutes. Then the screen can easily be removed from the puck. Then use the cutting board to dump the puck
Grazie e complimenti
Barrett, what’s your opinion on the Mara X vs the other HX machines like the Bezzera Magica that you’ve tried? I use a Cafelat Robot but want to get a proper semiauto one day :)
All these machines are so similar yet so different. I’ve preferred the Mara over the Bezzera. Even though the Appartamento is not near as fancy I really did prefer the rocket. If it were me and you wanted to go HX the Giotto is amazing! All that said, if you sent me all of the above all worked great for me. I have already seen a lot of comments saying the Mara X is so much more superior. Not sure if I buy into that at all. It’s fantastic none the less
@@portakeeper that’s helpful. I’ve had a close affinity with Rocket personally because of the styling and because my parents have an old Cellini but I appreciate the response. Really helps. Thanks!
@@julianpark93 the rocket was an interesting machine for me. I really have no attachment to any of these as I have other machines and grinders. The Appartamento for whatever reason I loved using. Looked better than expected. I still like the Giotto more. I have an older Giotto that I won’t give up.
I’m not sure what I’d call it. I guess I’d have to look into it. I’ve been told PID several times but you might be correct. Does it have two pressure stat?
I'm concerned about the build quality. I wish it were a couple inches wider of a machine. The internals of the machine seem to be good upon watching videos on it. Honestly I don't really like the look of it at all though.
The external sheet metal is ridiculously thin. That has always been my biggest complaint. Internals seem less organized and not quite as nice as others. The machine performed flawlessly though!

Was the machine in steam priority during this video?
Brew priority
it is has brew mode n steam mode?
@@shafgha69 Yeah, they are priorities more than modes. One favors brew temp, the other favors steam temp.
How much yield you get from that 18gr?
Usually 32g give or take
Afaik, MaraX does not have PID but a clever and very effective two probe control system that achieves the best temp accuracy.
I’m not sure what I’d call it. I guess I’d have to look into it. I’ve been told PID several times but you might be correct. Does it have two pressure stat?
@@portakeeper I believe MaraX has one controller with two temp probes. Good enough for thermal stability.
@@eskerinola5845 that controller is known as a pid... The only difference with this pid is you don't have access to brew temp in the same way
@@NickMayers-rj9zn hi Nick. Im only quoting Lelit own words. It is not PID.
