Pro tip: after you fill your oil to manufacturer spec let your engine run for about 30 seconds before you check your oil level. This allows the oil to run through your engine and will give you a more accurate reading than checking without running the engine.
After you do that, shouldn't you let it sit while not running for a bit? To allow the oil to settle back down? Otherwise, you could accidentally add too much oil because some of it will be in the oil pan, while some will be all throughout the engine.
The only reason this is recommended (which mind you it isn't recommended for all vehicles) is because oil expands when hot; checking it without starting it not only means you don't have to wait for it to drain back down, it also means the reading will be 100% consistent - don't fill it too high whilst it's cold and you'll have no issues.
Actually impressed with you Nick on the oil change. You have done your homework. Only one thing... You should fill the Subaru with oil all the way to the top dot on the dip stick. First-because this is a gasoline engine and they like a little more oil and second- boosted Subarus like to burn a bit of oil. Not much, but enough to matter.
I recommend using 5w40 from motul for your next oil change. Also get the cylinder 4 cooling mod from getadomtune. Cylinder 4 tends to be the one that goes first because it gets less coolant fed to it.
It's great to see the Mustang back in action, even if for legal reasons that this was filmed last year. More car vlogs please! It's great to see you work on your own car.
Good shit bro. Lot of these comments giving you helpful info and such are things you only know after years of experience. For someone like you I’d give it a A+💪🏾
Nick getting a ticket for no license plate on the front: me realizeing his plate on the back is nickypoo: I'm surprised he didn't get pulled over for that
hey dude, not hating or anything just wanna help you out when you fill up the oil filter fill it up with the outer holes the center one is the drain not the entrance of the filter so your oil doesnt get filtered before getting into the engine
Nice! Would be slightly better to have the car off the ramps and flat to both better drain all the old oil out and properly measure the final new level. :)
The reason the oil filter is so tight is because the heat expands the metal making a tight fitment, that's why there's a special tool that's meant to take off oil filters
This is a real throwback to that time in 2021 when Nick got pulled over in 2021 and responsibly installed his front license plate immediately after in 2021.
The oil filter wasn’t put on to tight. When you turn on the the car pulls a vacuum which is was causes oil to flow so if the filter is hand tight when the car is run the next oil change it usually be tighter that it was when put on
When you take your oil filter off, how I’ve always done it and so has my dad/family, dip the tip of your finger in your old oil and run it in the circle on your rubber seal so it’s lubricated and doesn’t dry rot
Doing an oil change yourself is always worth it. We do it on our motorcycles as well and it takes like 15 minutes. Driving to a dealership for that you can expect about 1.5 to 2 hours of waiting. The cost will also be double.
When you check your oil level, do it on level ground, let the car warm up, and then check you level again once everything has been run through it's passages
Hey uh... You need to check the oil level again after running the engine. Some of that oil will get sucked into cavities, passages, etc. during the initial startup.
Wait but aren't front plates optional in Quebec? I live in Quebec myself and we don't need front plates dafuq? edit: just saw the back plate, I see you moved to Ontario now, that'll do it.
Young mechanic here. Just wanted to point out a few things, so here they are: 1. The oil fill cap does NOT need to be removed when draining oil, 2. Make sure you change your oil roughly every 5'000km if it is non-synthetic, 8'000km if it is synthetic (going over is fine, just don't listen to manufacturer claims, they're bullshit), 3. When refilling your oil make sure that your dipstick has oil on the top dot or mark as that is where the "max" is, 4. DO NOT PRE-FILL YOUR OIL FILTER, the only thing this is good for is coating your floor in oil, though do put some oil on the rubber gasket of the new oil filter, 5. When refilling make sure you check your oil level, turn the vehicle over, wait, shut the vehicle off, and check your oil level again as the filter will now be properly filled with oil. I am very sorry if I seem condecending or rude, I'm just a guy trying to help out. Also Canadian. The end.
Nick if the front license plate on your mustang is an issue ie dragging etc, maybe you could mount it on the inside of front windshield? Dunno if thats legal their but yeah.
lol I ripped the carbon fiber front lip on my S3 off the bolts last winter driving through some unplowed heavy wet snow.. big sadge. I also don’t have a front plate. Don’t care if I get a ticket, I refuse to ever put one on. It stays in glove box lol.
"it's gonna be a quick install, just 10 mins"
2 hours later: "ok we can finally get started"
LOOOOOOOL
Thats Funny, My dad told me it took 3 hrs
LoooooooooooooooooooooooooooL
This is proof that Nick's skill issues are not only in games, also in real life! 😂
Wait you never knew that!?
You must be new here, nick is the skill issue
Nick is skill issue's middle name
Lol true
Fax
Today's video is 11 minutes and 46 seconds of certified skill issues
What a surprise
Definitely massive skill issues for that for sure 😬👍
Nick having a whole second of non skill issues 👀
11 minutes 47 seconds**
As usual
1:13 the fact that nick needs to ask for permission to use a chain saw really tells you something about him💀
Fr💀💀

I grew up in the 80’s and car mechanic wasn’t a simulator, we worked on real cars. I’m now 47 and still get down and dirty on my cars. Skills bro!😊
This is honestly one of the most straightforward videos I’ve seen for changing the oil on an STI. Can’t wait to do it on mine.
I recommend using 5w40 from motul for your next oil change. Also get the cylinder 4 cooling mod from getadomtune. Cylinder 4 tends to be the one that goes first because it gets less coolant fed to it.

I think you should change your air filter for the coupe as well when doing an oil change Nick!
Love the vids I’ve Been watching them for a while now
Damn, Nick is suffering from skill issues outside of games as well.
Good shit bro. Lot of these comments giving you helpful info and such are things you only know after years of experience. For someone like you I’d give it a A+💪🏾
I love your cars irl and I love the irl vlogs, keep it up
Nick getting a ticket for no license plate on the front: me realizeing his plate on the back is nickypoo: I'm surprised he didn't get pulled over for that
I think it's a legal plate
Watching Nick do car stuff in real life is always my favorite.
^^^^^^
All of this is really making me want to get my first car even sooner lol. Props to you on the oil change!
hey dude, not hating or anything just wanna help you out

LOL you! And when is the Peel P50 vid coming? I can’t wait to hear you thoughts about it! I personally love the car.
He canceled it
The car with the highest mpg of all
Nick bud, lovely job you did there but check the oil after starting the car and when it’s off the ramps please.
When Nick removed the Front splitter and it’s been only half of the video time.
I KNEW THINGS ARE GOING TO GET REALLY DIRTY 😂😂😂
This is a real throwback to that time in 2021 when Nick got pulled over in 2021 and responsibly installed his front license plate immediately after in 2021.
Ah yes, a new life în Canada, where nick gets a ticket for not having a front license plate. Btw nice video
You don’t have to prefill the filters anymore! And you should check your oil level with the car flat on the ground
The oil filter wasn’t put on to tight. When you turn on the the car pulls a vacuum which is was causes oil to flow so if the filter is hand tight when the car is run the next oil change it usually be tighter that it was when put on
I'm not even gonna question that license plate 😅
"Can I use the chainsaw?" Me: that was the best quote ever
"For legal reasons I'm also recording this in 2021" lmaoooo
I didn't get that what was that referring to
@@jackvanepps7301 Im assuming that he was supposed to do it a year ago but only did now.
When you take your oil filter off, how I’ve always done it and so has my dad/family, dip the tip of your finger in your old oil and run it in the circle on your rubber seal so it’s lubricated and doesn’t dry rot
I saw the title and genuinely worried that our favorite forza youtuber had gotten hurt thanks to the title
Nice to see Nick working on his beasts 😜
Bro did you seriously do a mustang with a Subaru?😂
damn, it's contagious
When you start modified on your Mustang nick
A tip for you always use the same brand oil every time you change your oil it help cheap your motor from the bearings going out
You need to go to Vaughan cars and coffee and hit the crowds in the mustang 😀
Where i live in the US, a front license plate isnt needed if the bumper is modified, and that also means aftermarket
Nicks bad driving is not limited to virtual games
Love seeing more irl stuff from you nick!!
Doing an oil change yourself is always worth it. We do it on our motorcycles as well and it takes like 15 minutes. Driving to a dealership for that you can expect about 1.5 to 2 hours of waiting. The cost will also be double.
This makes me feel more comfortable about my oil changing struggles lol
pls make more real life car content like this! really enjoyed it!
Finally Nick makes a vlog & it's his Subaru this time!
As someone who changes oil as a job those oil filters are always way tighter than they should be, filter wrench is a need lol
When you check your oil level, do it on level ground, let the car warm up, and then check you level again once everything has been run through it's passages
Such a Canadian with all the hockey sticks in one corner too. 🥲😍
You should find a barn / field find, then colab with someone like vice grip garage
Hey uh... You need to check the oil level again after running the engine. Some of that oil will get sucked into cavities, passages, etc. during the initial startup.
God that paint on that 350 is my fav spec I’ve seen of it
Funny, Where i live, if the car comes from factory without a place for a front plate, you don’t need one. But most people put it on their dashboard.
Look at a custom front splitter from Infamous Aero in Calgary Alberta!! Their V2 splitters are indestructible!!!
I really love background music it trending now
I love the mustang and the golf you have nick, i have a 2018 gti, lowered on springs, tuned by IE and tons of other things
OEM filters my guy. Cant beat ‘em
Your car is so coool
1:34 "the *curr* is finally up on to the ramp"
I sure hope you made sure the old oil filter gasket came off, and wasnt still there when you put on the new one
Wait but aren't front plates optional in Quebec? I live in Quebec myself and we don't need front plates dafuq?
edit: just saw the back plate, I see you moved to Ontario now, that'll do it.
I think your Subaru might have been a mustang in past life
You need to drain and fill up the oil on a flat surface. Other then that, nice work!
Nick had a Skill Issue irl
That Canadian cop sold have asked if you were under the influence of maple syrup not flipping random ass licence plate
Can you make more videos of you do changes to you car I love it
The cop when he got pulled over was prolly like, "Wtf is this guys plate"
What you have to do is floor it every time you see a speed bump so the torque lifts the lip up and your license plate clears the bump.

My man checked the oil level while the front was lifted... * *facepalm* *
That's a skill issue
I knew I'd find somebody who knows cars, thanks bud!

Damn my man playing car mecanic 2100 it looks so good

Feels good to see the R32 again
Also 1:12 is funny out of context
Damn you're in ontario now? Been a while since i watched but you were in qc last time. Ontario cops are hungry for front plate tickets
Nick: let's repair the subaru
also nick: look! There's my camera!
I a big fan of you bro I watch all your videos you are the best 👌 ar12 the real gamer
could've easily used a skill saw like regular humans but nope he's got to put it on veteran difficulty with a chainsaw 😅
I dont have a skill saw :(
@@AR12Gaming awe I'm sorry 😊 you still got it all done tho man 😅👍
Nick if you where in any province except Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba or New Brunswick you won't need a front license plate
Please more garage videos
You know he is a Canadian when he has like 20 hokey sticks in the background
Nick if the front license plate on your mustang is an issue ie dragging etc, maybe you could mount it on the inside of front windshield? Dunno if thats legal their but yeah.
please do more video style like this in real life i like it
you should check your oil level when your car is level, shouldnt differ that much but it could...
Nick wants to make his Subaru into a bumper-car!😂😅 Rubber splitter
And back to nicks: how to do an oil change RUclips tutorial
you gotta get a classic car nick!!
Maybe next summer 🤔
Waig thats a good idea
You should Come to Calgary some time
Bouta be a banger
11 people first
Pro tip
The top ‘hole’ on the dipstick is the full mark which is where the oil should be, bottom is o shit and nothing at all is expensive 😂
I’m so glad my state doesn’t require front plates
They got me for that front license plate too 😒
would you think about making a video on the volvo polestar v60 or the apollo intenza
Rip Subaru ....
lol I ripped the carbon fiber front lip on my S3 off the bolts last winter driving through some unplowed heavy wet snow.. big sadge.
I also don’t have a front plate. Don’t care if I get a ticket, I refuse to ever put one on. It stays in glove box lol.
