Great video, That bonus tip was very reassuring! I studied CS in undergrad but received low grades and barely graduated due to undiagnosed ADHD. I took two graduate CS courses at Arizona State as well and also did that DSA Mooc on edx to make up for the bad grade I got. Still waiting for my admission decision from omscs
Great video! I wanted to add that MOOCs aren’t as useless as some would have you believe. MOOCs are good. I got in with MOOCs. It’s a large endeavor to take for credit courses to cover OOP, python, intro ML, and Data Structures all before getting in.
I really love the look of this course. Unfortunately, it’s been 11 years since I graduated with a bsc in physics (including a c++ course and a dissertation on cellular automata) but since then I’ve mainly been self employed, living in Japan working in a completely unrelated field. My supervisor from university has since left, as has the lecturer of the programming course. As I understand it, a minimum of two references is required before the application will even be viewed. Gotta figure out my options but it seems a bit unlikely. I wonder whether doing courses on OSSU and volunteering to TA on the discord might find me some relevant contacts who’d write a reference …
@ hey thanks for the reply and your videos are some of the most informative regarding omscs. The issue I have with work references is that I’m self employed lol. I think it’s a good idea anyway to take some preliminary dsa or computer architecture courses either way so it’s not a huge deal I guess.
Hey I really love this I had a degree in civil engineering in Africa and did the transcript. I started teaching myself coding in 2019 and I have been working as software engineer for the past 3 years and now want to get my master degree in computer science at George Tech I took some online course like operating system , algorithm and datastructure online. I also have two site projects one where I shared all my learning experience and second where people could choose major based on other people experience in the field. I reached out to colleagues and managers for recommendations. Do you think it is enough to be accepted into a program ? I would love your opinion Thanks

That is awesome, I do think that is enough, I hear the OMSCS admissions leans towards accepting
Good
