It seems that the songs I like, other people say they're dated. Maybe it's because I've only been listening to pop music for about 8 years, so a song that sounds old to other people sounds new to me.

That was because of the jury voting. She was sick the week of Eurovision and she couldn't perform very well at jury's final, but managed to make it to the televoting Top 10. Even though she was sick, I think her live performance was one of the most emotional ones ever, her slightly broken and rough voice took the song to another level.

Tomás Alcorta el año pasado yo apostaba por Holanda, y me alegro ver que como quedó 2ª y sobre todo que fue la canción más de todas el año pasado.Respecto a Conchita cuando la vi en el ensayo supe que iba ganar. Era la mejor actuación de lejos. Es que siendo sincero hasta que no empiezan los ensayos no se puede predecir o incluso las semis...pero bueno Y esto año va a pasar lo mismo que con Conchita, como no hay ninguna canción que destaque va a ganar "la mejor actuación". Y la de Albania (que a parte de ser una de las mejores canciones) tiene un directo que flipas y no hay nadie que pueda eclipsarla.

Matt Spinto Smith I'm so glad someone realised that Albanian singers have the hardest time with their songs. It's because people who are in charge of Eurovision belong to the Russian school and they always aim for the perfect in a classical way. This stems from the times when we were allies with Russia and many Albanians graduated in Russia bringing all the classical school of art in Albania. No wonder we have a huge number of famous artists around the world like ballet dancers, instrumentists and opera singers, things that I could hardly find in some well developed countries ( like England) where people have no idea about Vienna' s traditional concert of the New Year.

I am from Serbia and my belief is that music knows no boundaries. I have always liked albanian language,for me it's sound like a mix of greek and italian . This song in english is great and I think I shall vote for this.
Thank you for your support McMatkovic. Albanian language anyway, despite how it might sound to you, is not a mixture of other languages. It might have an accent which makes you think of Italian or Greek, but it is a totally different language, not member of any family of languages in Europe. With Greek we share some similarities on grammar however, but that's just a sign of an ancient common origin of both languages, nothing more (we might have been brothers once, but we are just distant cousins now, arguing about hereditary property). Of course like any other language of Europe and Mediterranean basin, Albanian has borrowed words from Greek and Latin, but the total of all the borrowed words in Albanian from foreign languages is less then 15%. There are greek words borrowed, latin ones, turkish like in any other Balkan language, we even have few serbian and bulgarian (staroslavic) words in use, mostly on the agricultural field (like for example: brazda, vadit, ugar, korije, etc). The most important thing to bear in mind is that most of the greek words borrowed in Albanian language belong to the ancient greek, doric dialect especially. Some of them are not in use even by the modern greeks at all. This is a proof that the Albanians and their language have been around since ancient times. They have been here when this language from which they borrowed words was around too. The same with Latin borrowed words. But you can find Albanian words borrowed by Greek as well. GreekEpirus might confirm this. Like for example: besa, kuvend(iazo), lule (luludhia), livadhi, etc etc. And I guess there are Albanian words in Serbian too, even if I don't speak your language. Pero otros años que se decide todo en directo en las galas, y el año pasado fue así. Y hasta que no vi a Conchita en los ensayos y sobre todo en la semi no supe que iba a ganar.

Albania gets the prize for giving its singers the most difficult songs for Eurovision. Very hard to pull off live but a great song.
Matt Spinto Smith I'm so glad someone realised that Albanian singers have the hardest time with their songs. It's because people who are in charge of Eurovision belong to the Russian school and they always aim for the perfect in a classical way. This stems from the times when we were allies with Russia and many Albanians graduated in Russia bringing all the classical school of art in Albania. No wonder we have a huge number of famous artists around the world like ballet dancers, instrumentists and opera singers, things that I could hardly find in some well developed countries ( like England) where people have no idea about Vienna' s traditional concert of the New Year.

I am from Serbia and my belief is that music knows no boundaries. I have always liked albanian language,for me it's sound like a mix of greek and italian . This song in english is great and I think I shall vote for this.

Thank you for your support McMatkovic. Albanian language anyway, despite how it might sound to you, is not a mixture of other languages. It might have an accent which makes you think of Italian or Greek, but it is a totally different language, not member of any family of languages in Europe. With Greek we share some similarities on grammar however, but that's just a sign of an ancient common origin of both languages, nothing more (we might have been brothers once, but we are just distant cousins now, arguing about hereditary property). Of course like any other language of Europe and Mediterranean basin, Albanian has borrowed words from Greek and Latin, but the total of all the borrowed words in Albanian from foreign languages is less then 15%. There are greek words borrowed, latin ones, turkish like in any other Balkan language, we even have few serbian and bulgarian (staroslavic) words in use, mostly on the agricultural field (like for example: brazda, vadit, ugar, korije, etc). The most important thing to bear in mind is that most of the greek words borrowed in Albanian language belong to the ancient greek, doric dialect especially. Some of them are not in use even by the modern greeks at all. This is a proof that the Albanians and their language have been around since ancient times. They have been here when this language from which they borrowed words was around too. The same with Latin borrowed words. But you can find Albanian words borrowed by Greek as well. GreekEpirus might confirm this. Like for example: besa, kuvend(iazo), lule (luludhia), livadhi, etc etc. And I guess there are Albanian words in Serbian too, even if I don't speak your language.
