And that's why you'll never be able to carve such a masterpiece. Cuz from the start you already saying that you can't do it, therefore not even trying it.....
I've been wondering the same thing. I presume he used crazy glue since that is what he used to keep the potato eyes in. I never wouldve of thought glue would work on a pumpkin tho. Think he used lemon juice when he sprayed the pumpkin as he sculpted?
One of my neighbours used to carve his pumpkins just like this! It was so cool as a kid to go to his house on halloween and see what he had done that year (i think he was an actual sculptor but im not too sure)
Amazing tutorial! You answered all the questions I have had forever about how people do that - like: how they get the white parts; how they get it smooth, the lemon juice!...you awesome!!
So I got your new tutorial, And my question was answered in the first few minutes of the video. :) Keep posting tutorials, they are super informative and helpful.
Tutorial?!? .. lol... I'd mess up the glue part! Dude, you are so talented. It's fun to watch and see the pumpkin developing into this fantastic oeuvre d'art! Thank you for sharing your great works with the rest of us. Really happy to see you are not wasting your talent but using it creatively and for the enjoyment of others. Way to go!!
Thank you! This is actually just a preview though. The full tutorial is narrated (like the eye section). Really it’s broken down so anyone can get into it. It’s not all that hard but it does take a bit of practice. Lots of fun though. Thank you again for watching and if you want to give it a go, I’m here to help! Happy Halloween :)
Funny to think that this pumpkin has rotted away a long time a go. But this video immortalizes it. Lovely sculp, great video and I also like the choice in music.
No, THANK you for showing me such amazing skills of arts and crafts. I subscribed because you absolutely deserve it. I wish you the best of luck my dude!

Hello Mr. Sculpture_Geek and bravo to you! This is the most beautiful pumpkin carving I have ever seen! I have tried doing something like this in the past in fact this video inspired me to do so. Though I never new how you attached the other piece of pumpkin to the main pumpkin's face to create the nose. Did you use super glue or something I just don't know.
Instead of lemon juice on the potatoes to stop them from browning- ever try Cream of Tartar in water ? We use it to keep the potatoes nice and white when making latkes(potato pancakes) no rubbery feel to the vegetables, maybe you can even sculpt after you spray it. It's one tablespoon of Cream of tartar dissolved in 8 ounces of water. BTW-fabulous work!!
74 people are pissed you made this video when they are selling the same tip for 19.95 as a dvd. Thanks brother. Your art is amazing and it was a dope video!
Actually, just water works fine if you keep on top of it. You can spray them with vinegar and that will also preserve pretty well. You can also use a bit of bleach and water, although that will start to turn the flesh of the pumpkin white, it will help them to last the longest. If you want to keep a carving intact for much, much longer then, you can get a tank, like a fish tank that will fit the pumpkin, and submerge it in vinegar, I have a sweet potato carving that is going on 6 years and it's still pretty well preserved. It's just in a sealed jar on my shelf. If you want to spend the time to carve something really nice for Halloween or for a party/event, you can carve it days before and just wrap it in soaking wet paper towels, then plastic wrap around that and keep it in the fridge, it will keep perfectly until you are ready to use it. When you unwrap, just keep spraying it with water to keep it fresh and keep it out of the sun.
ques..do you use a glue to add on the extra nose piece..also is the pumpkin half frozen..wondering whats the best temperature?..SUPER AWESOME..learning alot, Thanks:)
Outstanding as usual... also, I have NO IDEA how you attached the nose. I mean, you can't glue it on to a wet pumpkin, sooo... how is that thing staying there like that?!

@@SculptureGeek how did you stick the nose and the chin
@@thegodlypotato4610 following
Wow. It would never have occurred to me to use a different piece of pumpkin for the nose. That is very cool.
How did he stick it on the face so securely? I wonder
Emily Nguyen probably super glue since that's what he used for the eyes

yeah, me too, i wonder how he stuck the nose on and then blend it so seamlessly to the face.
He uses superglue to attach the nose and the chin to the rest of the pumpkin. ^-^
Imagine walking up to this person's doorstep on halloween as a child

Is it spraying them with the lemon juice mixer? Thanks :)

Where do you get your tools? I can never find ones sharp or sturdy enough
Anon the-third I think these are meant for working on clay.
Clay or ceramic tools I believe look like this! They would be sturdier than the cheap carving tools placed have at Halloween!
They're called loop tools and they're used for pottery

Definitely worth trying. It’s a lot of fun and a nice break from normal sculpting :) Tag me of you do!

Bravo!!!!!!!!
Are you using regular sculpting tools or something more specific because I've never seen a pumpkin carving kit with any of those.
Mostly knives and pottery/clay loop tools. There’s a complete tool list with resources in the tutorial.
