Hi John thank u for your video, was really interesting. I’m new to counselling and would like to ask u if it’s good to study in ncps accredited college? I’ve found heartwood college when they do foundation counselling online level3 equivalent and then probably i would do level 4 and level 5 in chrysalis hopefully. Do you know anything about those colleges and would u recommend them? I’m just worried that is not bacp accredited, could it be problem to get into employment later?

Hi there, thanks for what you say about the video, I really appreciate it.
I’ve only become aware of the NCPS relatively recently in the last few years, but as far as I know it’s a recognised accredited body and it has been growing recently. Am sure it’s therefore similar to the others for the purpose of private practice.
I don’t know much about NCPS and the employment market though, as I’m only in private practice and it’s the same with most of the people I know. I would imagine employers would recognise it like they would the others, but can’t say that for sure.
Things are also of course changing with SCOPed and we don’t know where that’s going at the moment. Currently though it does put UKCP registered therapists at level 3 and BACP registered therapists at level 1, I’m not sure where it puts NCPS therapists. Perhaps if you give NCPS a call they could give you more information and background. I hear they’re pretty responsive to enquiries etc
