- So this is a review of my 2013 Ford F250 2 wheel drive with the 6.2 boss v8.. This truck has been extremely reliable and bulletproof all way up to almost 200000 miles. being that it's a worktruck it has had a hard life with always hauling heavy loads and towing everyday. Never heard a bad word about the 6.2 gasser.
They are solid.
The one in my 12 Raptor is solid at 180k miles.
Yeah them 6.2 are good motors I love mine
2012 f250 fx4 6.2 right at 135k. Nothing but maintenance. Replaced all brakes at 100k including calipers. Replaced plugs, wires and coil packs at 132k. Replaced batt at about 110k. Replaced ac compressor only 95k. That’s about it.
They are amazing reliable tracks...
I have a 2015 ccsb 4x4 6.2 f250. I have 160,000 on it. I tow my mini excavator regularly in the mountains and the trailer and excavator are 16k. Everyone says you need a diesel to tow but my gas 6.2 does everything I need and has never had an issue.
my 2011 F250 has been great 211,574 miles
2020 with 250k. It’s had a set of ball joints and tie rod ends, one set of brakes. Best truck I’ve ever had. I tow with it almost every day it’s not had an easy life.
We have some at work in a fleet of trucks. Some 250k plus miles, ran hard, and still run great. Tough to beat. They make great power too.
Yeah My f250 With the 6.2 has over 9000 idling hours 208 k miles And it is still Is an absolute work beast.
@@Adventureswithmike1that's why they replaced it with the 6.8/7.3. Can't make money off an engine that runs for 300k. Same reason Toyota got rid of the 5.7 for the crap 3.5turbo
I read a lot comments on YT about this engine and I just choose it over the 7.3, so far only 10k on it but it purrs like a kitten, I hope will not disappoint. The 4.6 2v I’ve had before ran 420k before a 19 years old kid totaled the truck. Glad to hear you are happy with it
There a very good motors. I currently have 209k miles and it run great.. just change you oil at 5000 and do transmission fluid every 40,000 miles
I have 2012, single cab. 6.2 XL that I gotta my 37' camper with. I now have 210k miles on it. It's been the most reliable truck ever. Last summer I had to replace 1 coil pack. I currently need to replace rear cab mounts. Those are the only problems I've ever had. And the thing still runs and tows like new. It's hard to get rid of because it's been so great.
Yeah those rubber bushings that go between the cab and the frame do go bad.. It's kind of a common problem i've only buy the ford original ones.. Some of the after market ones are way too stiff. And a transmit too much vibration into the cabin
How heavy is your camper
I am looking at a 2016 F250 single cab 4x4 with the 6.2 and it’s great to hear that yours has done so well! It’s just me and the mrs and we’d use it to pull a camper primarily, sounds like this engine is definitely up to the task!
I have a 2014 f 350 xlt model with the 6.2l it has 237k and honestly it's been really great! Rides kinda rough in bad roads but it's been great! A lot of power. I bought it with 234k but I've had it almost a year and I daily drive it but its been good!
Lower the tire psi.
@elgayetas could also be the body mounts. Changed mine out and now it rides sexy
I can't I used a truck for towing and hauling heavy weights, so I have to have the tire pressures set high
Just bought a 2020 with the 6.2 and 6 spd transmission with 80k miles , haven't had it long ,pulled our travel trailer once with no wieght distribution hitch ,pulled like a dream very stable. I went threw a small town and didn't realize i went threw a 2 way stop thinking it was a 4 way,a semi truck was coming so at 30mph I put the throttle down only about 3/4 of the way,that 6.2 wanted to smoke the back tires all the way across the intersection 😮
Yeah, they are very good stable towing platform. I also used my truck for towing. A camper without a weight distributing hitch. And the trucks have good power, but yours. Being at 2020, it has a different horsepower and torque rating. The horsepower is the same, but at a different R. P m And it makes 40 more foot-pounds of torque. For just a added bonus what
I have a 2012 Ford F250 XL with this Engine - It's a retired Home Depot Landscaping Truck - it has the aluminum bed with the fold down sides. Added a couple WeatherTech tool boxes underneath the bed for more storage, and ripped/replaced the receiver on the back as Home Depot welds their receivers so people won't tow with them. It's a driveway queen though - I've put like 5K miles on it in eight years - and it has like 64K miles total on it. I use it to go pick stuff up at menards and take stuff to the landfill occasionally. Only paid $15K for it eight years ago - Imagine trying to buy any F250 today for that.
I just bought a 2011 f250 with 27k miles for $21,000. And a 2012 f350 with 60k miles for 19k. Both with the 6.2. Using them for my fencing business

Seeing 6.7s dropping like flies I'm glad I went with 6.2l . Still have my 6.4l diesel but enjoy driving 6 2l over it.
You have never owned a diesel truck. The gas creates have enough power for what I need. And they've been super reliable. Did just all around cheaper to run.

Where have 6.7s been dropping? We had 16 at work and all had over 500k. All of our 6.2s died around 250k. 250K is great for a gasser. 6.7S are great. 6.4s are terrible. I personally drive a 7.3. Runs like a champ.

Look I got this truck @ 110k miles it’s @140k miles I love this truck so much I pull some crazy weight and she never gives me a problem always starts never fails I haven’t had no one single problem not once
Im in northeast pa also, we run 6.2 superdutys for work just like yours, I'm amazed how well they hold up
there really good trucks
We have 4 of them that are logging work trucks. They get beat right to death and the guys run them on the carpet doing 40-50 mph on logging roads 30-50 miles of dirt a day and they have 300+k miles. Our newer 6.0 2500 chevys are constantly broken but the fords just keep going

I miss mine as well our company traded up 2 years ago and i refused to give my 2013 up for a new chevy and a month ago finally gave in for a 2023 f350 because after 340k miles of hard work it was just plain worn out snd rust had taken its toll

They are very High quality They give the truck a better ride. Then the stock motocraft Shocks And I've had mine on my truck for years now.. And they're still fine.. Even with the heavy payloads and towing.
@@Adventureswithmike1Absolutely! And they’re so smooth on the highway and higher speeds, and they can definitely take a beating off road too! They are my go to choice of shock for pretty much any vehicle they’re made for!
Mine has 513,000 miles 2014 f250 6.2 gas same engine and transmission runs perfect I have to add a little oil once a month about 1/4 to 1/2 a quart in bed hotshot truck

Our firehouse has one as a utility truck. Never breaks, only complaint is it’s a thirsty engine.
That gas mileage is about right for that truck. Ive got an 11' CCSB 4x4 that gets about 10mpg in the city. Its on 3" of lift and 35s and weighs 8500 pounds though. 208k miles and still going strong with no oil consumption between 4k mile changes. People sleep on the 6.2s.
Yes for such a heavy truck you can't expect anything more than teens for fuel mileage.. When my truck was new before? I put any tools in it any side boards headache rack And the lyft gate the highest I was seeing was like eighteen on the highway.
@AdventureswithMike1 My only 2 complaints with the design is the vacuum hub lock system for the 4x4 always had leaking hoses before I finally just plugged it up and used the manual hubs and the lack of a cabin air filter. I always run my A/C with the cabin air recycle button on so hopefully it won't draw too much dust in and clog the A/C condensor.
@@danielrobinson4227 Yeah my truck is too will drive set off to worry about all the four wheel drive nonsense.. And either we thought it was weird that there was no cabin air filter...
Yes, change the oil and go with full synthetic in areas with winters. Maintenance goes a long way as well as some luck.
I like your videos. Regarding the truck. I'm thinking bout buying a 2013 F250 6.2L for towing. But its definitely a gasser
The 6.2 I feel is a sleeper engine, no one seems to say anything bad. Love mine. It really sings with flowmaster duals. Good low end grunt. Great motor, reliable. Fuel economy not so much
There they are a top notch engine. I think with a tune on it. It would just bring it more to life because it Suffers from throttle leg..
2015 F250 6.2 4x4 XL: It was a fleet vehicle and worked hard. It now has 285,000 miles on it. The transmission just went out and I am putting in a junk yard special! Everything else seems to still be working good. Hoping for at least another 150,000 out of it
Yeah, the transmissions on these trucks are really good, but it all goes on maintenance.. I changed my transmission fluid every 50000 miles, even if it looks good. And I only use motorcraft lv Transmission fluid.. I've never had an issue.
@@Adventureswithmike1 I run Burn Rubber Transmission Fluid in all my other ford Transmissions. I start that the day the warranty goes. Honestly, my transmissions run cooler on it. I doubt this one would have went if properly serviced though! I do a filter and pan drop every 50k on mine as well

Nope, the trailer doesn't even know it's there.. The only thing is towing the camper. Considering it's bigger wider taller, you feel it a little bit more sign
I have a 2014 with 145K and a little over 8000 hours
Only think I have done is replaced the plugs twice with coils and wires once. And the battery once
Now I usually change tires about every 20K
I keep mine on unpaved roads all the time
Hearing about the original serpentine belt and 500k mile air filter really upset me.

My 2015 f250 has a 6.2 v8, 194,000 miles… no problem
I am looking at 2012 with a 6.2 I am considering which will replace my 1975 Dodge D100 slant 6. My slant, no matter the tune and with a 2bbl carb could only get 10mpg; when you say you are getting 11mpg towing, I am assuming you get around 14mpg or so empty so that works for me! And to have 4 times the towing capability on top of that:-)
Yeah I average around fourteen miles per gallon not towing.. You won't be disappointed
Have an 11 top of the line F150 Platinum with the 6.2L. 3.73, maxtow equipped, I've towed 11K in the Catskill Mountains. 190K , getting ready to do plugs, hoping none break, I heard they could! Ford says to warm truck and some PB blaster. They were done already by the last owner at 120k. Also needed coils. Runs perfect, but gas mileage sucks in the mountains, 11mpg :lol:. Oil changed every 4K with pp high mileage synth.
The 6.2 Doesn't really have sparkplug issues. They're actually fairly easy to change off 16 of them. But do yourself a favor and do not buy cheap coil packs. Get the original Ford ones.
@@Adventureswithmike1 haha I bought that amazon pack for $99, 4 of them worked. Every so often one would fail, I would get some bucking.
I use the boots and resistors from the cheap ones on the old Ford coils when one goes. Those work. One old coil though was really bad so I got a Ford one from Rockauto;

Thinking about getting an F250 or F350 with the 6.2 V8. My girlfriend and I want to travel the country and we were wanting one of those small campers that fits to the back of the truck. Diesel is out of the question for some broke kid like me, so I was considering either the older V10 but they're bad on gas. The newer 7.3 Gas also had me interested but I think they're too much motor for what I need. But I'm thinking the 6.2 might be good, especially because they have a 6 speed. Is there any way to get more low end torque out of these engines? That's my only concern, as they seem to make they're torque towards the top end, which is why I've also considered the V10. Other than that, the 6.2 definitely seems like a rock solid engine
@@motormouth2472 You can look into getting a tuner.. That will unlock more power.. But I think and I'll have plenty for what you want, stock..

Thx for sharing! Brand new to Superdutys but came across what looks to be a very clean 2018 6.2L F350 XLT SRW LB Crew 4WD with 222k for $27k. New plugs/wires, both exhaust manifolds, 10 ply tires, rear brakes, outer tie rods, fluids and filters. Looking to tow a fifth wheel with a max weight of 12.5k pounds. The truck wouldn't be my daily. Think its worth pursuing? Appreciate any insight!
I think the truck will pull it fine. What's your really wanna look at is what gear ratio it has in the rear. There's a tag on the door that'll give you the axle code. And you can look it up to see what the gear ratio is. The higher the number that better, which is what you want for towing. Set big fifth wheel camper. You gotta remember that thing's gonna have a lot of drag on it. So it's gonna feel three times heavier. But I would say anything more wait than that I would go diesel Just because it'll do Like it wasn't even there. Campers are hardpull

I have the VIN so will see if I can pull the info from that (truck is about an hour away and I haven't seen it in person yet). Yeah, probably running close to max asking a gasser to pull a 5th but, fortunately, one of the lighter and shorter ones out there. Thx again for your input!

I been using 87 or 85, I have 120k it not really bad truck motor last 500k, I have crank up windows, all simple easy and I have about 8k hour idling
I’ve been really happy with my 2011 w/160k... aside from lifter tick that goes away once warm it’s been very reliable and strong.
Edit: I bought it with 120k and it had been used as a snow plow truck until then. Go figure haha.
it's probably an exhaust manifold.
I have a raptor 6.2, and it would have a slight rattle on initial cold start. I now run the OEM motorcraft oil filter and the rattle is gone.
You're the cheap oil filters. Don't hold oil pressure the oil drain back valves at junk.. That's why you only use a high quality filter... On the forms of lotta guys have complained about the same thing. And not just on fords. Most filters will eventually start to get clogged and they will just buy pass and not even start filtering the oil.. There's so many oil filter videos on youtube I've watched so many of them..

@@6.2Slomaro 219k And still going strong I did have to replace the passenger front wheel bearing. It was making a grinding noise.. But since I did that video I haven't changed anything. I have to get the transmission fluid changed here very soon.. with Regular maintenance they'll go for a long time
You better change that belt. When they break you are on the side of the road.
@feelnrite I ordered a belt and pulley kit because one of my serpentine belt pulleys, the bearing is gone and it's grinding.. So I'm finally gonna have to change it after 229000 miles... lol

No. It doesn't have Dual fuel filters.. I think it only has one in the tank That ford says it never needs to be changed 🙄

@Robzombie847 Just remember maintenance's key.. Most people don't do their oil changes. Like they should. I use only motocraft parts Oil change every five thousand miles Transmission service every 50k Using all motorcraft fluid and filters.

My 2012 F-250 6.2 gas engine locked up at 245K miles and starter got fried on same day 🤔 could be bad luck. Had an oil change 2 weeks prior to the lock up
While that really sucks I haven't heard anything bad about these motors... I wonder if they didn't put enough oil in.. That seems kind of fishy you though

The only main issue I know of with these is the ac issues these tend to have.
Yeah ford's a c pumps are not known for their longevity.. mine starting to get a little noisy

Ive found a 2017 f350 with 6.2l with 110k miles for $36k xlt with 8ft bed looks pretty clean what do you guys think? Im very new into the superdutys and trying to learn as much as I can!!

@@michiganconservative7442 Yeah the prices are crazy you really have to watch what you buy... I suggest if you like the truck take it to a different private mechanic and have them. Check it over and get a clean bill of health before you put Any money into something... If the dealer doesn't want you to take it somewhere to have. It looked at you should probably walk away

Just purchased a 2013 f350 with 55k ! How about some repair videos.
I've never had to repair anything other than just changing brake pads.. And spark plugs

Spark plugs in the coil packs are the most common Problems. They seem to be neglected a lot. Also I would change the transmission fluid right away. And then every 50000 after that.
You ever had to replace the flywheel?

@@SuperDuty250 While that really sucks. Cause I've never heard of that being an issue.. These structure pretty bulletproof. But I have heard of some random things like that though

Is it true that you could can swap trucks from a 2011 Ford f250 6.2 regular cab to up too 2016 f250 f350 f450 and f550?
I’m trying to do a swap and heard that you could use any of those cabs from those years.
2011-2016 super duty are all the same With only minor changes.. But the cabs are exactly the same
How big is the fuel tank
Not big enough.. I think it's only 26 gallons
Only thing about my 6.2….. it burns oil and I don’t know why or where. No burning oil from exhaust or leaks. Still can’t figure out why.
Sounds to me like an oil consumption issue.. Every engine will use some amount of oil.. Just check it often and do you oil changes at 5000

2015 had a recall for the valve cover for burning oil

Because not everyone wants all the drawbacks of a 4 wheel drive truck. For the one or two times a year you might use it. It's an option that not everyone needs
When are the timing chains due to be changed?
I don't think there's a set mileage.. I think if there's not a problem I wouldn't worry about it.. I have heard guys with over three hundred thousand miles that they've never changed anything.. But that doesn't mean a tensioner can't fail or slides get worn out..

Don't remember off hand I wanna say around the 180k They were still working, but there was lots of corrosion and one of them was misfiring. . So I changed the mall and did the spark plugs all sixteen of them . And I found out that the lower ones had never been changed. Most of them were missing electrodes

Unlike most people I used my truck for work.. I load heavy cast iron boilers in there.. Along with heavy appliances break rotors and things of that nature.. And a lot of the replacement parts were original Ford parts.. Except for the mirrors Headlights I believe..
My neighbor is currently replacing the whole engine in his well maintained 2015 F350 6.2. It dropped a valve (spring broke) at 155K Km (around 93K miles) It put a hole in the piston and damaged the head and cylinder to the point where it was not repairable. Not an engine I would want.
The 6.2 v8 Is one of the most reliable ford engines. There's only been a handful of them that have had the Valves spring break issue Out of a millions of motors they produced. There are examples with over 700000 miles with no issues. And they are hundreds of thousands of them with over 200k miles. That are all original. It is not a very common problem but it does exist..

Kinda just have bad luck with shitty drivers. You know how It is when you buy a new truck everyone has to Smashing to make it look like shit.. But I did go down and I see road and turned into a passenger and slid into a tree which was on a fortunate thing that happened... But I am actually a very good driver. Just a little unlucky
