    How many miles from a new oil change does the 2016 Civic go before the oil needs to be changed on its default setting and can it be changed? The reason I ask is I put in synthetic oil, which lasts up to 7,500 miles before needing to be changed, whereas traditional oil only lasts 3,000 miles before it needs to be changed. I don't know what miles setting its default is, but I don't want the change oil warning to light up at 3,000 miles when it's got synthetic oil in it.

      Josue Caamal you should be good. Sounds like it’s telling you what the next service is going to be I’m guessing it says B1 at 100% or close to that?

    So mine says B 9 and it’s at 60% I think it’s the brake fluid. My question is if I change my oil and reset the oil life, would the 9 disappear too? Even tho I haven’t changed the brake fluid? So far I’ve been changing my oil once a year and I don’t like that I want to at least do it every 6 months but I don’t want to reset the oil life if it also resets other upcoming maintenance minders

    • @steveshondastuff9555
      @steveshondastuff9555  3 года назад

      I’ve actually learned a better way to reset it through the center screen display in settings then maintenance minder. I made another video on it, but in there you can reset only what you want. And no nothing will disappear the computer never knows the state of the fluids it’s all done by calculations.

  • @raczyk

    how often are you suppose to change oil on the 10th gen civics? Are you only suppose to use synthetic oil?

    • @steveshondastuff9555
      @steveshondastuff9555  5 лет назад +1

      razz P you only need to change the oil when the computer tells you to, time and distance will vary with driving habits. Yes only 0w20

    I got an oil change at my local Honda dealership and it was reset back to 100% when they returned the car. So this I something I will have to do manually if I were to get an oil change at a different shop? I thought the computer could tell when the oil was changed.

    • @kevinm5857
      @kevinm5857 7 лет назад

      or at least that's what my sales person told me, maybe he was lying.

    • @steveshondastuff9555
      @steveshondastuff9555  7 лет назад +5

      Kevin Marry the maintenance minder has to be reset by a person, whom ever does the oil change. The engine does not have any sensors to tell the computer if the oil is new or not.
      If it isn't reset after the oil change it will just keep counting down to o% then into negative miles/kilometers past due

      @@steveshondastuff9555 if you change the oil yourself, but forget to reset the reminder, would that void cars warranty? i.e. does the computer keep track of the negative miles, even though you changed the oil but forgot to reset the minder.

    • @steveshondastuff9555
      @steveshondastuff9555  5 лет назад

      razz P no the computer doesn’t track negative miles. If you do it yourself keep the receipt for the oil and filter that’s the only proof you’ll have of doing it.
