Resident Evil Revelations: The Calm Before The Storm

- Resident Evil Revelations is both an achievement and a missed opportunity. Although its impressive that Capcom made such an accurate and competent Resident Evil game for a hand held device like the Nintendo 3DS, the game has many issues that make it feel like a decent game rather than a great game.
Keep it up Mungo, your videos are always very good 👍 I am a huge RE fan myself, so I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this game in particular.
Revelations is an underated gem. The story while confusing was genuinely interesting, the new characters like Parker were slso genuinely interesting and enjoyable, and i hope they return someday. The gameplay while being a little weird was pretty well made, it feels like a natural evolution of 4, uping the horror, improving the gameplay and action, and keeping meele moves after you stun an enemy. Hopefully one day we get a true sequel, and no my man, its not better than 6.
To everyone who says 5 is entertaining because it's dumb schlock, I hate that game's narrative genuinely but I can get schlocky entertainment value from Revelations 1.
13:20 it's not trying to set up the plot for Revelations 2, it's tying the ending into RE5 because Tricell are who made the ouroboros virus by taking multiple viruses from past games.
And this game is a prequel, so naturally part of it's story are gonna try being a connective tissue between 5 and previous titles.
Revelations 2 is a sequel in name only with very minor connections to the first for these midquel games, it's just a soft side game label really.

This game had so much cut from its development due to time and money constraints like go watch the first trailer and then compare with later ones , the devs said they wanted to do it very differently which is why i think the plot is so weird and theres an ai partner but no co op
I love all the games. But revelations 1, 2 and RE4 hold a special place for me.
Revelations was my favorite game in the series from recent years.
Being a big fan of Alan Wake at the time, I loved the more mystery focused and episodic format.
Jill is great here and Parker is surprisingly good. He may be my fav character from this game.
The enemy design is great and the SkagDead's first encounter still makes the hairs on neck stand up when i hear his "Maaydaay..". Rachel was also a great throwback to the stalker type enemy like Mr. X or Nemesis, but to a much lower degree.
While RE6 is a guilty pleasure and scratches the coop itch this game couldn't give, Revelations 1 was a breath of fresh air in a series where at the time was filled with mediocrity.
