- Continuing my new series, see why Orlando got Big Thundermountain, how the design was changed from Anaheim, and how it was built. Then see the major changes made over the years and then take a full tour of the interactive queue and a multi angle full ride through. Take in the mountain from various angles, the Riverboat and the railroad, take a ride at night and then see how Tokyo’s version was designed, the changes made for it and also take a ride on that version too. Phew!

I know they make the ride "safer" for guests, but those railings and walkways really take away from the aesthetic/immersion of the ride. Same goes for what happened to the ramps on Alice In Wonderland.
should you do a splash mountain tribute like this tribute series where you do a video on the disneyland splash mountain, then the tokyo disneyland mountain and lastly the walt disney world version? it may be closing in a few months at disneyland and walt disney world to undergo their transformation into the princess and the frog splash mountain

Is 197.5 ft tall correct? That makes it the tallest building in Magic Kingdom by a good bit, and even taller than Spaceship Earth.

@@dylanwic5163 BTM is measured from sea level. The castle (at least) is measured from its lowest foundation level.

I believe it is "only" about 100-110 ft high from where you stand entering the base of the queue entrance or from the river's edge behind it. For some odd reason, and this always confused me, Disney has always listed DW's BTM height from sea level though instead of ground levels like everything else is around it is measured.
You can clearly tell it isn't nearly as tall as the castle or Space Mtn when you look at it in the park from other areas like the Star Jets or the treehouse. I always stay at the Poly and you can tell from the rooms there on the 3rd floors looking across that Thunder Mtn is a good 30-50 feet shorter than Space Mtn or the Castle. Using Google Maps 3D, this also affords you the same basic view and shows that it is shorter than those two structures as well.
