    You can create more realistic look by adding cubemap in Emission channel to create an illusion of more realistic reflection of edge.

    nice! did you know, you can hold "1" pressed and klick with the left mouse button in material editor to get a constant. with "L" you get Lerp, and with "3" you get threeconstant vector etc. i think you will work faster like that :)

    I set my refraction front to 1 so it doesn't look weird on flat surfaces. If you're using it for a window you might start seeing double when looking through it at an angle.

      i'd use different values for regular glass and window glass

    Hello Alex, what about of architectural windows glass for exterior? When I set opacity then mirror effect is gone. Mirror effect works only when glass is not opacity.

    • @vrayguide
      @vrayguide  2 года назад

      Yeah with mirrors you have to make reflection capture.. but now with new UE5 we have rat tracing option, does glass automatically

  • @thanhthuanbe9751

    Great video, that looks a lot better. I wondering, are there anyway to add more reflection to the material. Can we blend it with a metal with fresnel alpha ?

    Hi,nice tutorial .But how to get right shadow for the glasses. The shadow looks like to weak.

  • @digicraft63
    @digicraft63 4 года назад

    Informative tutorial but I can´t get this fresnel effect to work in 4.24. It does not distort the glass in any way. Wonder if there is a setting somewere that I have missed?

    How would you apply a blur to the glass?

    • @stevenjones22
      @stevenjones22 6 лет назад

      It depends on the exact effect you want to achieve, and how much control you want to have. In the lighting mode, for glass and water UE4 right now recommends "Surface ForwardShading". The other option, "Surface TranslucencyVolume" is more blurry according to the description. I've only seen it add more highlight to the glass.

    • @brucemashbat240
      @brucemashbat240 6 лет назад

      The effect I wanted to achieve is Plexiglass. I was able to blur the material, but I wasn't able to add reflection. This is the video I used: ruclips.net/video/527ZcxYnf_s/видео.html
