I agree, actually, up to August 1990, the economy was going great (due to Ante Markovic`s reforms), and everything seemed that transition from state-planned economy, toward capitalism would be less painful than in eastern-bloc states. However, tensions between republics were going high. I am not saying this because of Yugo-nostalgia (I don`t even remember Yugoslavia), but at that point, there were no rational reasons to crush that state from inside... If you know what I mean...
Extually , up to 1990 economy was OK . With average Yugoslavian salary 1989 of more than 1.000 DM ( German Mark), all of this stuff were available to the most of the people ! After 1990 comming era of superior TV commercial...but everything become unavailable to the ordinary people . Where are you from ?
