    Tennis match-ups are so interesting. Fed has no trouble with Wawrinka. Fed's variation just throws Stan's game in for a loop. At the same time, Stan is the vaccine against Novak's game. Novak loves his insane angles and endless rallies. Peak Wawrinka is one of the few players who can out-angle, out-rally and out-hit Peak Novak. Stan defeating Novak at the French Open Final is one of the most beautiful matches I've ever seen.

      @@mikehawk2194 But did you really believe it after round one? He was taken to 4 by Jürgen Melzer in the opening round and I clearly remember a journalist suggesting another layoff right then. His second round win over Noah Rubin was in straight sets but two of them were close, so it was unremarkable. Berdych in round three was being touted as a big hurdle. It was only after he stormed through that match that I started bel18ving. I love how he was under the radar for two rounds and then surprised almost everyone but the hardcore fans.

    If Federer wins the final and clinches his 18th it would seem to be the perfect time to retire.
    Even to his most hardcore fans it would be hard to deny it's been a rough 4 years with his peers Djokovic, Murray and others and really stepping up their game - That kind of younger, fiercer competition is probably too much even for the 'greatest of all time' to endure much longer...but part wants to see at how far he could ride this out - Reclaim number 1 and really go out at the top.
    I think it's a little unrealistic at this point but that would be a sight to see.

    • @defjamblade
      @defjamblade 7 лет назад

      oldenvye6432 stepping up their game? Stepping up would result them in the finals as we speak not being knocked out before quarterfinals

      I'm saying overall but they could be in a slump - Federer dominated the sport for so long before 2012 that others had to respond.

    • @adityacapte
      @adityacapte 7 лет назад +9

      Why are you so anxious to watch him retire ? Enjoy his game while it lasts. As for the 'Younger, fiercer competition', they aren't touching the big 4 level anytime soon. At least till 2019 season starts.

    Isn't it funny, Fed has no problem with Wawinka, but can't solve Djokovic- at Grand Slams? Maybe he should hire Stan, as his sports psychologist, that should get him over the line, next time he plays him in a final, or semi final, if they meet, in the draw, next year!
