Totally agree. Jason. you and Lorraine work so hard growing your homestead. I love the way you haul lumber. Your ingenuity and work ethic are off the charts.
FYI. Your semi professional gutter installers ran bottom elbow on downspouts to low. They should be about 6” off the ground to allow for a run off or extension to add to elbow to run water away from building .. here in Wisconsin we add 4-5’ extension to avoid water backing up under building…especially since water is isolated to 3 individual spots.
I worked sheetmetal some...I was actually the driver taking material from shop to jobsite but over the 4 yrs I was there I got to knock some tin together. It was a great job, I had a lot of fun.
Here in Utah people often put a black flexible pipe thing on the end of the gutter to route water off to safe distance. This is changeable and temporary if desired.
Congratulations on the new gutters. 🎉 Much needed step forward on the barn. Keep up the awesome job. 👏 It will eventually all get done. Please, no more heavy lifting on the ladder!!! ❤️🤗
I made apple cinnamon scrap syrup & jelly with what you fed the pigs. You would still have stuff to feed the pigs, it would just be very cooked. That syrup is awesome, I just wished I had turned it down & let it thickened just a bit more. DON’T THROW AWAY THE SCRAPS! 🍎😉
I did try this at home. A couple of weeks ago I was getting 12 foot boards ( green lumber and very heavy) 8 feet up for rafters on the chicken run I'm building. I partially screwed in two deck screws to balance one end of the board on while I sunk the started screws on the other end of the board. I also used two ladders (one on each side ) so I could move faster between the two sides. I am a 74 year -old great grandma . I empathized as I watched you struggle .
Well we knew of Noah’s Ark but now we know Jason’s Ark. LOL 😆 I’m teasing of course. You ALWAYS do an amazing and beautiful job on everything. Blessings to all ~Lisa
Jason, your barn is huge! Installing gutters was a smart move. Sometimes you and Al scare the dumplings out of me when you are working on ladders. The arms of my recliner take a beating because I am holding on so hard so y’all won’t fall from your ladder.
Yes, Jason and family is great encouragement to persevere and achieve success. Thanks, Sow the Land. Appreciate you much. Blessings and prayers for you and family in Jesus's Mighty Name ☝ 🙏 🙌 💪 ❤
Awesome job , you had me shaking when you were up on the ladder and the 2x6 started falling , glad everything went well, no injuries and great progress on the barn ! Thanks for sharing !!!!! 🙏👍😊❤️
I'm surprised you didn't add a few more totes to collect water from those gutters. 🤩 What a wonderful improvement for your barn! I'm just amazed by all the progress you've made in stewarding your land!!
Add at least 5 feet of downspout to the end of the elbows to get the water away from the foundation. Rent a bucket lift to do higher elevations. It's cheaper than laying a hospital for a week.
Great job Jason !! But as a 65 yr old mother of three grown men ....... and many ER visits that was a very scary thing you did putting that fascia up without any help !! French drains will definitely help with runoff. Ask for help, your family will be much relieved. 😁💕
The gutters are fabulous- waiting to see how the water flows when it rains. It’s crazy how they make one long gutter. Great video. Love your channel. ❤️😁🌹
Great job Jason . . . only advice on working on a nail built structure I can give is every time you remove a board take the nails out . . . you'll be happy when you cleanup. Cheers.
So glad you had gutter dudes and gal to do the gutter! Proud of you…the new wood- that is my MO- bang on it and it might work. You need scaffolding. Please buy it or watch marketplace
If you have carpenter bees. All you have to do is take a paper bag and stick some cardboard in it to keep it inflated and hang it with a string. You might need more than one on that barn. I know it sounds crazy but it really works. Worth a try. What do you have to loose.
I am so happy for you. I am smiling like a child at Christmas time. You really deserve that and I was happy to see you did get the professional guys to do it. Congratulations. Congratulations.🎉😂❤
Definitely have at one or two other people to help you. Also, a french drain would be beneficial to transport the water away. It seems if you get a lot of rain trying to collect it in barrels would not work; you'd need really big barrels or a tank to run the water into. God bless and please be safe!
For your Carpenter ants, mix equal parts Baking soda & icing sugar, with little water , wet cotton balls in it and place all over around the nest, when they turn black with ants leave them be, as they take the mix back to the nest and it kills them, this way no poison to harm any other animal ,It s really hard trying to do some things alone, stay safe
I wish you would get a gilt like that red one you had and breed to the kune kune, i think that would be a fantastic cross, good meat, faster growing. Like to see that now you are so good at raising pigs
The roof joists are sitting on a beam. I see there is damage on that beam, just cut it back to the first seam, or maybe 6 ft. Just replace what you need and run the end joist down. Looks like you did it right
Looks great! Interesting how they made those gutters. You could just run some flex hose on the downspouts to get the water well away from the barn. I have to say, you ain't afraid of nuthin' ! 😂
After replacing the rotten wood, paint it or put some kind of sealer on the wood. Put cool seal on the tin. Have any nail holes fill in with silicone. Hope this helps.
So sketchy, the mom in me was freaking out Jason. Also I love it when your California comes out, not so many homesteaders are out there saying that was sketchy!
You need a mini scaffold. I see the same one as I have in many US RUclips articles. They are yellow and branded Hurricane here in Australia. My family made me get one after a major fall. Plane trip to our capitals major hospital with a bleed on the brain. I watch yours shows very week and I don't want to you fall. When the timber fell in this show I said loud " You need a scaffold " Take care.
Apple flavored pork, yummy!! Haven't been able to eat commercial pork for years, smells like pig. We raised a couple of pigs the same way and the meat was so delicious. Take care, get someone to help if you can, injuries take a long time.
There are no short cuts Jason. That’s what I have learned! Touching up will do for a season if you are lucky, but cut back , strip back and go to the problem is the only solution
Is it just the eave part thats "compromised" . We took care of some rotted eave ends/ rafter ends by cutting off the bad, measuring and lining up each (with the others down the line), and centering the two pieces in some type of U-shaped, metal bracket. Don't know the name of the bracket ... found it wandering Home Depot aisles in 2016 looking for something that would work. -ours were minimal, load bearing; just portion of the eave and not all boards.
Please try to get some help. Jason, especially hen you are doing something up high on a ladder. I would hate to see you fall from such a height. The gutters look great and good call on getting someone else to do the job. One piece gutters are definitely the way to go. Y'all have a Blessed day.
One of your greatest strengths Jason. You're not intimidated. You just tackle the task.
Totally agree. Jason. you and Lorraine work so hard growing your homestead. I love the way you haul lumber. Your ingenuity and work ethic are off the charts.
@@pampilgrim2274 Jason reminds me of Cole, nothing stops him, he figures it out!

Looks great!! Always jealous of that barn!
Held my breath a couple times fearing a piece of wood hitting the truck!!
I would totally help you do that barn roof. Been a sheet metal guy for 28 years.
I worked sheetmetal some...I was actually the driver taking material from shop to jobsite but over the 4 yrs I was there I got to knock some tin together. It was a great job, I had a lot of fun.
Zeke reminds me of an ewok from StarWars! Lol They are definitely cute pigs.
Scaffolding AND another person! Work smarter and safer, your family needs you in one piece!
yeah for sure, that was pretty risky. some scaffold dont take up much room
Love the way you have worked hard improving everything .. taking care of the homestead
😊I love how neat you keep your property. Good job. Bless you and family.

you gotta pick your battles sometimes. so scraps to the pigs it is 🤗

Splicing that beam with a new board was smart
Jason, your barn is huge! Installing gutters was a smart move. Sometimes you and Al scare the dumplings out of me when you are working on ladders. The arms of my recliner take a beating because I am holding on so hard so y’all won’t fall from your ladder.
Get more of those containers to attach gutters to be able to collect more water
❤ add A DRIP CAP EDGE coming over the top edge of your new board. Looks great!
Yes, Jason and family is great encouragement to persevere and achieve success. Thanks, Sow the Land. Appreciate you much. Blessings and prayers for you and family in Jesus's Mighty Name ☝ 🙏 🙌 💪 ❤

My late husband could have been a poster boy for OSHA. You are channeling his spirit on this episode!!! Be careful out there. Your family needs you.
Get more tanks for water catchment
I'm surprised you didn't add a few more totes to collect water from those gutters. 🤩 What a wonderful improvement for your barn! I'm just amazed by all the progress you've made in stewarding your land!!
Jason I am old enough to be your mom and I hold my breath at times when I see you doing things alone, and then I cheer when you get it done!🙂

Great video Jason. You are amazing❗️ good deal to get the gutters up on the old barn👌
Great job Jason !! But as a 65 yr old mother of three grown men ....... and many ER visits that was a very scary thing you did putting that fascia up without any help !! French drains will definitely help with runoff. Ask for help, your family will be much relieved. 😁💕
Lorraine, did you know that you can make apple scrap jelly out of the cores in the peels just a suggestion
For sure! Yum!!
💚Slow but ateady improvements on the barn! The pigs are so darn cute eating their yummy apple scraps🍏🍎💚
Homestead looks good
The gutters are fabulous- waiting to see how the water flows when it rains. It’s crazy how they make one long gutter. Great video. Love your channel. ❤️😁🌹
Cover em !
Well done! It looks as though the new wood needs good protection from water damage which will help preserve it especially when it is heavy rain
Great job Jason . . . only advice on working on a nail built structure I can give is every time you remove a board take the nails out . . . you'll be happy when you cleanup. Cheers.
You know, a band sawmill of some sort seems just right for you. That’d get that barn fixed up right!👌🏻
Patients and perseverance! Great effort, you got it done 👍🏻
I would definitely buy from you if I was closer. I don’t think driving from Alaska would work out. Lol maybe one day. 💚
that would be epic if you did
I wish I had your barn. God bless.
Enjoy watching you do menial tasks.

Awesome job by yourself. Yaa more water to save . You get it done always.👍🏽
Thanks 👍

that doesn't work for me
@@SowtheLand boy I was infested and I put up 2 bags and gone. Sorry it didn’t

Your place is looking fantastic. It all just takes time and thank goodness you can do a lot of the work.
Definitely have at one or two other people to help you. Also, a french drain would be beneficial to transport the water away. I think he would need a tetaining pond. That roof is huge huge huge.
Yes scaffolding
Hello Jason , tks for video. New gutters look great. Much love to you and family....
Gutters = water catchment.
Crumbling wood = best time to fix was yesterday. Next best time is NOW. 😊
That is the longest gutter I have ever seen!!! Excellent decision to use the experts😃
JASON, DID YOU KNOW THAT WITH THOSE APPLE SCAPS YOU CAN MAKE APPLE CIDER VINAGAR GOOD FOR MANY THINGS.
YES, WE HAVE A VIDEO ON IT ruclips.net/video/ERcGtkSdir0/видео.html
Where's Mr. Randy when you need him😆 but no worries, you got it 🙂
I was so excited until you said no shipping! 😂 Can’t wait though!!

@mariesheppard3750 do you have any remedies for carpenter bees?
You did it! Good for you.
Looks better already.
Stay safe, that did look hard.
I wish you would get a gilt like that red one you had and breed to the kune kune, i think that would be a fantastic cross, good meat, faster growing. Like to see that now you are so good at raising pigs
Mmmm roast pork and apple sauce yum. Great job on the barn Jason.

You and your buddies amaze me by the jobs you do alone.

How cool is that, one huge gutter. Wow this was awesome to watch ::way to go 🎉
After replacing the rotten wood, paint it or put some kind of sealer on the wood. Put cool seal on the tin. Have any nail holes fill in with silicone. Hope this helps.
You’d never know there are three people on the homestead! 😅 Not safe to do this alone Jason.
Love it. A fix and/or repair project. Fun and games. A chain saw and sawsall perfect tools.
I love ALL Sow the Land videos!
im so glad you got help less issues later on hugssssss
Jason
Smart thinking cost wise
Looming wonderful around there
Yes Jason that was sketchy! Be careful buddy! The gutters look awesome!
Awesome project! The barn gets an upgrade
OMG Jason that was scary and awesome at the same time ! You never give up 🇺🇸
So sketchy, the mom in me was freaking out Jason. Also I love it when your California comes out, not so many homesteaders are out there saying that was sketchy!
Jason, you’re the most creative and industrious guy. Please be safe❤

Great job or amazing job done by yourself!😊❤ your skills are MAD!
I was praying for you!
Looks great , i would get corrugated roll black plastic pipe to extend the gutter down spouts to the side of the barn.
Jack up the roof edges and replace the beam
Appreciate the hard work you do there. Your homestead is looking great.
Apple flavored pork, yummy!! Haven't been able to eat commercial pork for years, smells like pig. We raised a couple of pigs the same way and the meat was so delicious. Take care, get someone to help if you can, injuries take a long time.
Never had seen gutters 'made' quite interesting. Looks fantastic!
Cut off the bad part of the 4X4 and glue a new end on it. Works great on my rebuilt pergola.
Great job! Be safe Jason.
Jason, your persistence and determination, KUDOS to you! Well done, tackling that.
There are no short cuts Jason. That’s what I have learned!
Touching up will do for a season if you are lucky, but cut back , strip back and go to the problem is the only solution
Great job
good deal on the new gutters
You guys really inspire me. You’ve done so much with that property already
Gutters done great, maybe get some tubing put on bottom of pipes to get it to run further away from the barn
Good day to all.
Good call on seamless gutters
You need to replace some of the wood that is rotted out. You have to have something to attach the gutter to .
Prayers 🙏 and Love From Oklahoma
I was just waiting for that truck to need a new windshield ... yeah def get catchment containers for those downspouts
Good job .
Oh my word!! 😂you had me praying to God for you lol Psalm91 lol I was only watching you put a new board up
Apple scraps good for apple butter

Jason,
Keep that building as a shed and build a new barn.
ah, geez
